I would like to see a video of the people who commented on sewing through multiple layers of heavy fabrics with any Singer Heavy duty machine.

I really wish I had watched this video a few years back. The "Heavy Duty" Singer was a struggle to make oven mitts, or hem blue jeans. Two layers of cotton was about it's limit. And forcing fabric under the pressor foot was a major pain and stitches came out very uneven. I got a Baby Lock Jubilant for Christmas. I was so happy when I watched your video and saw that you recommended Baby Lock. Thank you so much for this video to warn people of the frustration they'll have if the buy into the Singer lie of "Heavy Duty". Yes I was tempted to throw the "Heavy Duty" against the wall.

Absolutly right, Jack H2 it is heavy duty, Typical GC 0303 it is heavy duty, and they are cheaper than singer an more cheaper than Juki. Look at the Chinese sewing machines, they are great

My family has 3 HD models (3 different ones, 5523, 4452, and 4432, in white, grey, and black), so it's not the grey that sells it. They work well, are easy to repair (I repaired several timing issues myself), and are easy to maintain. Heavy Duty is not industrial or semi-industrial. It's relative to other home machines, and from disassembly and reviews, it seems to match what is advertised. Considering you have no idea about electricity, please consult someone who does or learn more before you compare voltages as an indication of power (it's not. It's the same in the entire continent). In addition, considering your focus on the ZigZag stiches as a factor for the other machines, the Baby Lock Joy has a maximum width of 5 vs. the 6 of the Singer HDs (at least the ones I used).

My local sewing machine store wanted me to buy something lighter for more money. I’ve had this model for a few years and it’s way more heavy duty than my basic sewing machine. Not sure what you’re on about. No one thinks they’re getting an industrial sewing machine for $200-250.

Well apart from your annoying Voice and stupid finger gestures your totally wrong I have both a heavy duty and a standard sewing machine the heavy duty one is far more robust and takes thicker materials with ease where as the lighter weight one certainly doesn't I use the heavy duty one for thicker sewing and the standard one for thinner fabrics and I do all of sewing both clothing and upholstery etc I have even just purchased the heavy duty server overlocker and I also have a lighter weight one the heavier one is more robust

A lot of misinformation in this post. Household and heavy duty are similar not same. 4400 series are HD household machines. It's heavy duty by all metal frame, heavier motor with an 1100 stitch max, multiple layers of fabrics. I am a bag maker, this was my first and smartest machine purchase. The only thing I don't recommend is leather sewing on this series machine. She is entitled to her opinion, but I buy sell and rebuild machines. These are an incredible machines. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with yours. I will absolutely recommend the 4400 series machines. (4411 does not have auto thread) I have an industrial machine that handles my workload now, but my 4423 will always have a place in the shop next to the overlock. I agree with the Sailrite if you need a walking foot and massive capacity.

I have a singer 4411 heavy duty sewing machine and I say Leather with it every other day and have no issues whatsoever, you are full of it

I’d highly recommend after researching the disassembly process to remove the plastic covers on the back and front. Behind the covers you’ll find a cast metal frame that helps keep the bushings and drive gears in consistent alignment. It’s cast magnesium rather than heavier steel which makes for a rigid but still lightweight frame. This isn’t the case with many plastic machines. On many machines removing the plastic covers merely reveals more plastic. The gears inside are some nylon and some metal depending on the amount of stress that a gear is expected to withstand. I definitely wouldn’t say that the current Singer heavy duty is as robust as a vintage Singer from the 50’s & 60’s but it’s a lot better than the machines where the interior is a honeycomb of plastic and all of the gears are nylon. While I like my modern Singer Heavy Duty I still find myself using my vintage Singer 201 or 99k for the better piercing power. I someone wants decorative stitches and an all metal interior and exterior there’s machines like the Singer 328 which uses cams for the decorative stitches but unlike the current Singer Heavy Duty it weighs about 35 lbs.

Your tech doesn't know what he is talking about lol the singer pushes through 7 layers of denim and 8 amps the full capacity of the machine and sews straight thru. The singer heavy duty is as exactly as it says it's definitely heavy duty and keep up accessible. You realize you need to keep up your machine right? Oil replace felt brushes? Lol I'm sorry people don't listen to her she is clueless

Im new sewer. I will need to sunbrella materials for my sail projects. HD velcro, snaps with backing for the patch are on occasion nylon webbing similar to belts. From what i see a straight and zig zag stitching. Could you recomend a machine? Thank you

I'm just a casual user and don't sew on a regular basis, just when I need to repair a tear or take up a seam, ie: simple stuff. I inherited my mother's 1950 Singer Featherweight 221-1. She used it extensively to make many of our clothes, since we lived in Mexico at the time. It works beautifully and it's really in pristine condition. The only thing missing is her button hole adapter which got lost somewhere along the way. It's 75 years old now! Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Heavy duty machine is the ones thatvwe see in garment factories like where my mom worked since she came to Canada. The motor on the machine was almost as large as the machine you showing the lights in the house flickered everytime she used it .

Here is what you actually need HEAVY DUTY for: Sewing on boats! Its the cusions made of heavy fabric like Sunbrella UV-stable fabric. You need to sew three- or for-fold through it. My trusted houshold-machine just didn't get through it. Good video, nonetheless.

You are SOOOO correct!! I repair sewing machines and they jump time. Strong motor with a cheap timing belt equals crap.

All these portable "tabletop" sewing machines are more like toys.

The array 6 needle (13K), no camera, the Venture 10 needle (25K) has a camera. Depending on what you're doing-being able to rehoop and align to continue the work or align at an angle, etc. a camera is a big help. Also the venture can do the 14x14 hoop, not the array. And you can rehoop with the venture and camera, so it's a double gotcha with the Array. smaller work.

Very good tutorial on sewing a T-Shirt quilt. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am getting ready to make one for my granddaugher. She wants a wall hanging, she surprised me when she asked me to make her one, and handed me 6 T-Shirts. They are her most favorite from her high school years, when I told her 6 T-shirts will make a small quilt she was happy with that. You provided me with a couple of ideas to add to the creative thoughts spinning in my head - going to check with her if she has any badges or patches for the border. I would take your suggestion and sew them on after I have quilted it.
