MAKE THE 1 BALL! - How The Pros Are Breaking 9 On The Spot
Переглядів 1,6 тис.5 місяців тому
This is likely the most relevant break video I've made. All about the matchroom 9 on the spot break. My previous 9 on the spot break video uses a method that's very difficult to control and adapt to various table conditions. THIS is why I think the pros have leaned more towards this method of making the 1 ball on the break. Enjoy.

Also, I use a break in this set that I've been working on. I have a video in the making explaining it and why it's a better solution for template racking 1 on the spot 9ball. BREAKING on a BARBOX - Head On!

For all the amateur players out there who play on barboxes, here's how I break head on for 10 and 8 ball. For a deeper dive into the HOW and WHY breaking this way is beneficial, here's a podcast I did with Demetrius Jelatis. About half way through we talk on the subject of pop breaking. Lot's of juicy details in this that is hard for me to break down in a short video. ua-cam.com/video/9stfmirHO...

    These templates are terrible albeit they are better than the Accurack which is tops for worst template ever. Of everything I have tried from Taom the only good thing they make is chalk, which is amazing. Their racks are bad and chalk holders are the worst.

      @@Drewdownkali so the reality is this: these template are amazing ON GOOD CONDITIONS. The racking area can’t have a lot of divots and should have at least relatively clean cloth and balls. As soon has there’s a divot in the cloth around the racking area, I’ll immediately switch to a magic rack or turtle rack. Their extra thickness counteracts the divots.

    So thin is... quite vague... do you khow the thickness of the Taom rack ? Thank you very much, I am waiting for your answer. I agree with you: too much pressure toward the center is changing (very little though) the direction of balls compared to a normal and tight racking. + The Magic Rack combo set is 0,14mm thick, by the way. + And I am surprised that international competitions are using those rack templates!! ? Where did you buy (or order) your Taom rack?

      Firstly, I don’t use an aiming system. I know several, and try not to use them unless I feel like I really need to. Mostly it’s all by feel. If I use them it all at once as sort of a double check system. Secondly. You probably shouldn’t be shooting on an empty table while you’re in a match. It can be considered very rude. When it happens to me, I try not to make a comment about it- but generally, you shouldn’t be practicing when you SHOULD be in your chair sitting down. It’s part of the game. Embrace sitting down and feeling all the emotions that come with not being at the table, then overcome them. Thirdly, this is a mental block you’re describing. When there’s no stakes (practicing), you play well cause there are no expectations or repercussions for missing. Then when you play a match, where every ball matters, you suddenly choke- not cause you can’t do it, but because you’ve made it a big deal and aren’t focusing on being truly present. Release your expectations and past performance and just focus on what you’re doing with no outcome in your mind. The act of striking the ball should be enough to engage your mind and body. Let go of the rest. Even if you lose at that point, you’ve still spent your time wisely and will learn much more from it.

    Quick question about this break. So I've gotten to where on both an 8 ball and 10 ball rack I'm getting a really good, consistent pop. For every 10 breaks, probably 8 of them pop well with good CB control. Here's the question: Is the technique different for 9 ball? I know it's not as common to break that way but I've certainly seen it. SVB used to do it before all of the break rules for 9 ball came into play for the pros. I'm doing the exact same thing on the 9 ball break as the 8 and 10, yet nothing. Is something different about it, or am I probably just not hitting the rack as well as I think I am?

    • @SenseiNatePlaysPool
      @SenseiNatePlaysPool 2 місяці тому

      @@procrastinator6902 that’s awesome! Nice progress. It really depends on the break you’re going for. With 9 ball, for this break to work (from the side rail) you’re only going to consistently pocket a ball if you have a good rack or template rack. There are a couple other 9 ball breaks that work too- but generally with a triangle rack, use this same break from the side rail. If it doesn’t work, then. Move inwards more and more with your hand on the table. With 9 on the spot, it’s a very different break. I have a couple videos on breaks that work with that format, including the one that the pros are using.

    Your technique makes it looks so effortless. Just got back into pool. In any sport, it seems like we tend to think that there is one way for all, and then someone comes along and is phenomenal but doing things “wrong”. I notice this with helpful tips from others regarding shooting pool. “You have to…” or “you should never…” but then again you see exceptions with exceptional payers all the time. Which was interesting in that I see your reply further down where I believe you mention you don’t do this, but instead a variation? I’ve seen folks that have the weirdest, unconventional stroke..where the cue as the pre stroke goes down and up, but when they actually strike its straight as can be. Etc. Maybe that’s what is so fun about billiards, or other sports, that there is something else happening than the pure physiological or mechanics, some other human thing going on so someone can break many “conventional wisdom” and still be amazing, or not. But that isn’t to denigrate this video, it’s great, it is information and good explanation about ONE way one might try out and see if it works for them. To give it a try ( I definitely am going to) and see if it might work for them, an honest try…give it time and dedication, and if it works, cool! If not, try something else!

    • @SenseiNatePlaysPool
      @SenseiNatePlaysPool 3 місяці тому

      @@shader26 try all kinds of variables. Everyone’s stroke and equipment are different. But yeah start with bridge length and elevation. Pausing is hard to get rid of for some of us, but there are many other factors. Grip position, wrist snap and other mechanics, ball placement… Generally this is just for 10 ball breaking but it’s more about the mechanics and stroke than anything else. Could work for 8 ball. 9 ball is its own break- usually off the rail unless you’re playing 9 on the spot.

Also good cloth with good balls will definitely help same with a good rack. Because a bad rack, and not so good balls and cloth will make it harder to accomplish this. I'm a really good 10 ball breaker, learned a lot from this video, I noticed i can never break with back pause because it makes the shot much slower, and increases the risk of the cue going off since I'm using a lot kf power. I actually used to break using my body and standing before the break and stuff but just like svb who changed to very steady body position when breaking, I now stay still and do most of the job fone with my arm stroke. Quick tip for you after seeing you break, you're head is so close to the cue, add 3-4 inches distance and you are a little bit close to the table and your left arm angle with the for arm is narrower than it should be, make your left hand straighter slightly this'll help you with your balance other wise your body is to forward balanced and leads you to moving your body forward when try to break fast unintentionally, open your left hand elbow just slightly which leads you to taking a little more distance form the table. You'll get it eventually
