Looked decent until you got close up.. bros hair looks like its dying and has cobwebs caught up in it.. plus you definitely did the fade too high up for his side profile and there should be some thinning to blend the fade into the long hair better coz the contrast is too much.. looks like an unfinished haircut as opposed to a fresh fade mullet. Then again I'm no barber, I'm just going off my own experiences with cutting my own hair.

I just purchased my 1917 Victor VV-ix this past December 2023. It worked but the spring's slipped and made a loud thump. I took it all apart both springs the hole deal ( rubuilt the motor.) I cleaned the cabinet,i used Howard's restore a finish multiple coats of Tung oil to give it a nice shine. Plays great and looks nice. Also rebuilt the sound box.

Personally, I would have tried to clean the original finish before sanding it off. On a Model B (which I believe this is: I have a well-preserved ITC version from early 1906), the finish would have been 'dark oak' rather than the lighter 'golden'. And why have you not replaced the decal on the front? There are excellent reproductions available. I shall have to see how you handle the restoration of the mechanism.

Junior exhibition sound box aren't too often to see.! Absolutly all outside horn models from HMV, Victor, Deutche Gramophone has vertical mounted springs - well, allmost. Except for the "trade mark" models. They was at the marked between 1898-1903...

Sonora phonographs and records were quality. I play my records on more recent phonographs because the head of the Victrolas were too heavy and they wore the records. You also need to change the steel needle with every record you played. The average Victrola record played with a fresh needle were only meant to last 1000 plays.

You shouldn't play a record that is not made of shellac on these phonographs. The head will tear up the plastic that was integrated in most 78 recordings made by 1949. Records made by the 1940's were not made to be played on Victrolas.

Was any work done on the reproducer (soundbox)? It sounds remarkably good, especially in view of the fact that the horn is only a small one. - One small criticism: the brush used for painting the gold corner ornaments was much too thick. There would normally be five strokes at each corner, not three, and they should be as sharp and even as the straight lines. It would be worth while to do these again with a finer brush, so as to match the high standard of everything else in this restoration.
