I had to lasso a shark to get my lure back. This was the best case scenario for the shark and me - the shark swam away strong and I got to get my expensive Nomad DTX minnow lure back! I am sailing my Hobie Tandem Island kayak from Woody Head in Northern New South Wales.

Derek and I head over to North Stradbroke Island to try find the Wahoo that has been eluding me all year! Some very close calls while sailing with humpback whales and hook up with some big fish! The search for a Wahoo continues. Despite having my steering handle snap off, losing a fish and lure tangles, time on the water is always worth it! Fishing from a Hobie Tandem Adventure Island is a fun challenge!

With the help from a couple of friends, I managed to launch my Hobie Tandem Island sailing kayak through the surf and out to one of my favorite fishing spots! There isn't parking for my trailer at Fingal, so I had to transport the kayak on the roof of my truck. At the end of the video, you'll see how I load it on by myself.

Two days of sailing and fishing on the Hobie Tandem Adventure Island. The bay that we are fishing out of is actually called Shark Bay.. and for good reason. There are lots of sharks! I was super happy to catch a nice Long Tail Tuna and get it past the sharks! So much fun sailing these kayaks out at sea!!!

Highlights of my 3 day trip to 1770. We had some great sailing conditions and found some Spotted Mackerel and School Mackerel. Mackerel were caught trolling dead baits and hard body lures. The other guys stayed for a whole week and the fishing really turned on after I left. Derek even caught a Sailfish! Fishing from a sailing kayak is so much fun!
