2020 Subaru Ascent Spark Plug Replacement
This video shows how I replaced the spark plugs in my 2020 Subaru Ascent. I was due for a 60K mile maintenance and spark plug replacement was part of that service. Dealer wanted $500... local shop wanted $700...
Parts for this job was $112 ($26/plug+tx). Level of difficulty 4 out of 10 for the passenger side... 6 out of 10 for the driver's side. The driver's side plugs had very tight quarters to work in. I had to buy a few tools like the low profile, swivel socket wrench, $26 and a 10mm deep well socket $9... still a considerable savings. Time to complete job, probably 2hrs (mine took longer because of filming)

Replacing and Staining Chair Back Caning
Переглядів 15 тис.Рік тому
In this video I will show you how I replaced the caning in the chair back of my favorite bamboo chairs. To have them recaned and stained by a professional was $250 per chair, so I decided to try it myself. Here's what I did and what I learned. Now I'm passing that knowledge on to you! I did 4 chairs myself in total. The first one took a few hours and the last one took a little over an hour. Tot...

Anyone out there with advice on things I could have done, or things I missed please leave comments in the feed. I'm not a mechanic and don't claim to be, I'm just going by advice I had been given. Hope this helps for anyone out there who wants...
Building a 2/3 Scale DC-3 Airplane
Переглядів 59 тис.6 років тому
We scaled down and constructed a DC-3 in the Full Sail University soundstages in December of 2013. The DC-3 is part of the Full Sail logo, so we built a prop version for their Christmas event called Santaland and again utilized it for their Hall of Fame celebration. The plane is mainly constructed out of wood and foam. It took approximately 2 weeks to build with about 8 people. The plane needed...

How to Repaint Brick Paneling for a Realistic effect
Переглядів 66 тис.7 років тому
I teach set construction at a college and we use a lot of brick paneling. I like the paneling but students often times want the bricks to be a different color or look more realistic. We used to paint each brick by hand and that took forever... then I came up with an easier method. It allows you to choose the mortar color and the brick colors. The key to a great look is using saturated colors an...

Removing an old Sta Rite Max-E-Glas 2 Pool pump motor and installing a new pump motor

When the old pump motor started making a high pitched sound it was time to replace it. The motor ran for several hours everyday for 11 years and the bearings had finally given out. Instead of buying it from a pool supply store I looked up a local electric motor supply store on the internet and saved about $100 on the cost of the motor- All you need are the old motor specs in order to get a suit...

can you stain first?
Great video brother I’m doing mine this week.
Excellent video!
This is retarded - why would they design it like this, knowing that a serviceable part on the maintenance schedule?
At 10:31 you placed a clamp around the housing. What's the exact name for that housing? I am replacing my Century 3/4 hp pump and need the housing as well. I can't find anything on the internet that resembles that housing. There's no markings on my existing housing. Thanks.
I'm currently working on a project just like this. When I took the tiles up, none of the old thin-set was attached to the tile. Definitely, a pressure issue?
damn! That thing is a bear to get out...I finally just removed the front seat and it was much easier to squeeze in there and get to the resistor.
Wish this worked for a 2020 Forester...that driver side rear doesn't have enough slack in the harness to pull the boot out, and trying to disconnect that coil from the harness has me defeated, at the moment. 3 out of 4 done but I can feel that the engine isn't enjoying the lopsided ignition.
I have a cane-backed rocker that needs replacing but trying to figure out how to put the new webbing on. It's not stapled or anything to the back; just wrapped around top and bottom of back of chair. My question is does anyone have an idea how to get the webbing to be secure enough that when I lean back in chair it won't come undone? I've never tried this before but my current webbing is really falling apart with no back support and I need to replace soon. Thanks!
After putting in your Spark plugs did your motor shake.
Did it get better? That sounds like a misfire. Maybe a boot wasn't on all the way?
loved the stain matching element. what was the cost of materials? what was the cost of the repair?
That information is in the tutorial and in the description above
Never use staples
What about the oil valve you never mentioned if its suppose to be in or off??
really???? dude this is like the worst work ever!!!!! you should do it line by line not to staple it and glue it! REMEMBER WHOEVER STAPLE AND GLUE THIS KIND OF WORK IS COMPLETE BEGINER AND BAD WORKER!!!!!
in their defense, there were already staples and pin nails in the original work
Wait. Can you refer with a better link? Lol
Hi from Kissimmee, Florida. I have a beautiful dining room table and 6 chairs with wicker backing that my dad bought in 1971, when I was 6, in Daytona Beach, Florida and the table and three of the chairs will look wonderful. The set was made by American Furniture Company in Martinsville, Virginia. I found a place that will replace the wicker backing of my chairs for $150 per chair. I thought that was a lot, but now I see why! So, after I watched this video, I bought the kit that Todd suggested from Amazon and I hope I can do it myself. I just started this earlier today because my wicker backing kit just came in the mail. MY chairs do not have that thick piece around the edge that Todd's chairs do and I am having a lot of trouble getting this edging off. I have tried several tools, but it is going to take some effort. I think the easy part is going to be putting the wicker backing ON once I get the spline OFF! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, if you know where I can find antique American Furniture chairs , I would love to check it out because I can't find the exact chair. Thanks so much.
Thank you for this full tutorial video! It will come in handy for my husband and I this summer when we redo the retan in our dining room chairs
Not checking gap or did I miss that step I confirm all gaps
Spark plug replacement should never be this hard. Sorry...no Subarus for me.
Most cars are this hard, try v6 front wheel drives
what do I need to do to de winterize? just flush it out with water?
Yes, just run the motor with a hose attached so the coolant doesn’t end up in the lake or river
Thanks for the really helpful video.
I've always been told to disconnect the battery before doing these types of jobs. Is this correct?
What the name if your cutter tool?
Oscillating saw...
Is the procedure the same with the forester?
I don't know... I'm not a mechanic... if your engine compartment looks similar than maybe... if you are a bit mechanically inclined you should be able to figure your way through it.
@@sunshinetv2419 okay thanks!
Getting my spark plugs in at orielys tomorrow. Cant wait to do this on my 2021 60k outback xt
Excellent and smooth explanation of how to replace a pool pump
So you leave the treated gas in over Winter and instead of drain gas
Yes... the more empty the tank is the more condensation can build up inside the fuel tank and put water into the fuel
Just a heads up here... Tighten the spark plug finger-tight until the gasket reaches the cylinder head, then tighten about ½ - ⅔ turn more with a spark plug wrench. (Taper seat you go about 1/16 turn more... These are way to tight.
Just a critical warning for newcomers, DO NOT REMOVE THE RED TERMINAL FIRST (like in this video)
Thanks, I was like "what?!!' Luckily the positive did not touch the chasis and give his ECU a stroke.
Looks great!..but a lot of work...is it worth it?..bc i have 4..3 are damaged..I am ready to throw them.out n buy new😮
I looked all over to try to find comparable bamboo style chairs, I got these from Badcock furniture years ago but could not find anything anywhere like them without spending less than $1000 per chair. To get them professionally redone was $250/chair. So before throwing in the towel I thought I would give this a try. The first one took a few hours but the rest took about an hour and a half. For me the time was well worth end result.
@@toddsadowski5074 thank you..I will try👍👍and thank you for this tutorial..😊
Excellent video. Very clear and concise… and very helpful. Thank you!
From where did you find replacement of broken tiles from fifteen years ago?
The builder left me about 8 tiles that I’ve kept safely stashed in my garage… I reused as many as I could so I could always have some spare
Good Job and well Detailed removing this difficult task.
The concrete floor was too dry . The thinset dry before bound
NGK confirmed do not use anti-seize on the threads. They are specially coated.
What he said. Don't lube the NGK plugs and take negative cable (not red) first off the battery. 👍🏻
I have fat electrician hands and have been dreading changing the plugs on my ascent. Thanks for showing the steps involved!
Hallo sir can i ge your contact noumbet? I want to ask something about pool pump machine.
good video just what I needed to see to do mine, thanks🤠
Alternatively, how could this be done without powertools?, such as the vibrating saw.
Take off your watch bro
At least he is not playing those brain eating god awful background music 👍🏻
Sometimes when carpet was removed and tile installed, the residual glue from the carpet and lift the tiles. Also, the biggest tile lifter is water getting under the slab and loosening them.
The tiles were put down when the floor was built. My best guess as to what happened was that my guests left the blinds open all day on an unusually hot day in the winter and the sunlight beamed onto the tile and heated it up to the point it expanded and popped up from the floor. As you can see there wasn't any moisture under the tile and there is no glue from carpet so I'm going with my theory of open blinds because when I open them completely the sun shines right on that spot.
Interesting. Thats why premium stone mortar is bought because it last longer. Simple basic thin set is only rated to last 5-10 years. @@sunshinetv2419
These Subaru Boxer engines are terrible for changing out spark plugs. I'm not buying a Subaru again. Own a Forester.
Your problem resulted from expansion and contraction of cement subfloor differential from the tile. Most likely you will find the tile installed either very tight to the walls (under the baseboard) or very tight to the baseboard with cement grout installed instead of siliconized grout caulking. When the subfloor and walls expand, it puts extreme pressure on the tile mortar. If you pull up a tile and it comes clean on one of the surfaces this is a tell-tale symptom of pressure. Your fix most like will be a somewhat temporary one unless you dress the perimeter.
He didn't back-butter the tiles, do you think that's an issue? I have a similar problem.
I’ve heard you don’t want to stain the back of Rattan? It makes it brittle.
You are a champ!
stains are mostly oil. should make it supple
Nice and useful video…
THE ONLY THING WHICH YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE WAS BUTTER THE BACK OF TILE BEFORE INSTALLING THE TILE IT WOULD HAVE MADE SURE THE TILE HAD ADHESIVE
Very interesting! Chair looks beautiful. I’ve been seeing conflicting information about the downside of finishing both sides of the rattan. Stating, that by sealing both sides, the life of the cane will be shortened. Finish and cane become brittle. Do you have any experience with this happening through time? Thank you.
Mine lasted for years until my wife’s buttons on her jean pockets tore the rattan
😊
Same on the '19, I'm assuming? Also I've heard that there needs to be constant battery connection for reasons which I don't recall. You didn't seem to have any issues tho, huh?
It’s probably very similar… enough that if you’re mechanically inclined you can figure out the rest… I didn’t have any trouble with disconnecting the battery
Very helpful thank you!
Great procedure documentation. Finally replaced the lower foam on my 2008 B7 A4. Thanks!
