    I would of used solid deutche terminals and any time you have connection points I would of staggered them so there is never any contact if the heat shrink were to ever fail. I had this happen to me 25 years ago on my race bike... but great video

    Just a question? That hole in front of the wiring harness, why did you run your harness wires through this and out the hole in front of the terminal block? I would have kept all the harness wire together with heat and techflex until in front of the terminal block. I would have secured the whole harness bundle of wires with a nylon wire clip from underneath the power tray because of the necessity to cut as little wire off the harness. Also, I would use color matching heat shrink to match the wire color or labeled heat shrink. Just some food for thought in the future.

      Why tho. Its just like any other roof top tank.

    • @HorizonBound
      @HorizonBound 26 днів тому

      I'm curious as to your reasoning behind it being the worst tank. From the other overland tanks I've seen out there, they all have similar designs. This one just happens to be made of aluminum so possibly a slight weight difference but when you factor in the rest of the weight of the water, it's going to be pretty minor. I like that it's made of aluminum actually. I'm notorious for clipping branches so the extra strength is definitely nice to have.

    • @HorizonBound
      @HorizonBound 26 днів тому

      Nope, no water leaks around the windows for me. I get a little leak in the back but I think it's mostly coming from the gap in the tailgate and the fender. I need to add fender braces and see if that fixes it.

    Where did you move the arb add a fuse’s to after you installed your switch pro? It looks like you used a couple or at least one of the 10amp fuses you used for the switch pro… I’m asking because I just installed a switch pro and used your video for help. (Thank you btw! Was very helpful!) but now I’m wanting to install the arb compressor and wondering where I’ll be tapping those fuses at??? Thank you for any info! Did you just run the compressor to the switch pro maybe and get rid of the original wiring set up?

    This question may show my own ignorance to the topic, but I don't understand why you would need to use the bus bar with a fuse block?

    • @HorizonBound
      @HorizonBound 2 місяці тому

      Hey there! Thanks for the comment! So this set up has a lot of optional additional equipment added to it. Technically, you are right that I don't need a bus bar. Technically, I dont need the fuse block either. I could/should just wire all of the positive wires from my accessories straight to the switchpro harness itself, and then ground all the negatives to the negative terminal of the battery or ground it somewhere to the truck. The reason I have the bus bar is because I want to keep the fuse block separate. The switch pro harness wires are all connected to the terminal block so in order for that to power and function my accessories, I need to wire the positive of my accessories to the other side of the terminal block (essentially think of it like butt splicing them together). Now that my positives are connected, I need to ground my accessories which is where the bus bar comes in. The bus bar is all grounded so I could attach the negative of my accessories to ANY spot on the bus bar to ground it. As long as the negative of my accessory is connected somewhere on my bus bar, I've completed the circuit circle and will now have power. The reason I have the Fuse block is for the additional accessories that I DONT want connected to my switchpro but I DO want constant power to. My fuse block is constantly "hot" because there is no switch telling it to turn on or off. So this is where I wired things like my GMRS Radio or my Fridge. I want those devices to always have power and the actual switch that I use to turn them on and off would be on the radio itself or on the fridge itself. But those accessories always are powered. Hope that helps! Let me know if I can clarify anything else!

    Looks great. Two potential issues I am hoping you can share some thoughts about now that you've used it for a year: Does it leak water, and if so where, including does it ever leak water thru the vent up top? How hot does it get inside in the heat of the summer? I ask this because I could go weeks at a time without ever needing to open it.

    Way over priced plastic

    • @HorizonBound
      @HorizonBound 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the comment! The actual tank itself is Aluminum so definitely not like the cheap plastic tanks from other overland water tanks. Yes, there are plastic components like the shower head and the valve at the back but even shower heads for homes are mostly plastic. Im really impressed with the quality of the tank and not really worried about the little plastic that is on the tank. Worse case, I go to Lowes and buy new fittings. Have a great day!

    This may be "America" but that doesn't mean you're free to do whatever you want. Here in Texas you can install it but you can't use it. ------ Texas Transportation Code - TRANSP § 547.302. Duty to Display Lights (d) Not more than four of the following may be lighted at one time on the front of a motor vehicle: (d1) a headlamp required by this chapter;  or, (d2) a lamp, including an auxiliary lamp or spotlamp, that projects a beam with an intensity brighter than 300 candlepower. ------ This means that if your headlights are on in Texas you can only use two additional lamp fixtures. Each fixture can only output 300 candlepower (Candelas) which is 3771 lumens (luminous flux). So your entire light rig in Texas tops out at 7542 before you start getting tickets. Even if you turn off your headlights and switch on 4x total pods, they can't be more than 15084 lumens total. And if you're thinking, I'll just use them away from roads, keep in mind that Texas Game Wardens are extraordinarily powerful in terms of agency. They're basically like Texas Rangers. You turn these on and you'll get a severe warning at best. If you have any kind of a firearm in the vehicle when you're caught using them, you're getting arrested for suspicion of poaching. No joke. tl,dr; Research and learn the laws and restrictions on vehicle lighting where you plan to operate before you start installing all kinds of insane lighting rigs. I'd kill to put this thing on my old Tacoma just for fun but it's not worth the tussle with law enforcement.

    Are the side ones special lp6s? The 2 side lights offer great light. FYI shouldn’t amber lights be mounted low?

    • @HorizonBound
      @HorizonBound 2 місяці тому

      Hey Robert! Thanks for the comment! The difference between the two outside LP6s vs the four in the middle is that the four in the middle are spot and the two outside pods are the driving combo. I wanted to have a nice even spread on the sides so used the driving combo lenses for that while the four spots in the middle really throw the light out into the distance. As for the ambers being mounted low vs high. I've seen a few different opinions on that and even though I know Baja says they put amber low and clear high, I actually like the opposite. Since my headlights are clear, it made sense to make the bumper lightbar (not currently installed for this video) clear and keep the ambers on the roof. There is little to no spill on the hood where I have heard that clear does reflect a lot more off hoods. Obviously, a hood wrap or vinyl wrap will help deflect the reflection but for my liking, Ive enjoyed having the amber up high. I may make a video where I swap amber for clear and clear for amber just for experiment purposes but for now, I'll be keeping it as it is. Thanks for the comment! Have a great day!

    • @HorizonBound
      @HorizonBound 3 місяці тому

      Hey Hugo! Thanks for the reply! So I'm not sure how you can add hot water to the tank BUT I do know that with this system, since it's made of metal and painted black, it actually gets heated by the sun. If you have a nice sunny day, you'll be able to enjoy a warm shower after it's sat in the sun for a bit. Obviously, if its cold outside or cloudy, the water might not be as warm.
