Canon 30D with a Tokina 11-16 and Canon 55-250 Zoom Lens
It's tough to get interesting shots in early spring. I went out with a Canon 30D , a Canon 55-250mm zoom and a Tokina 11-16mm zoom to see what I could come up with. By using a couple of cropping techniques, average exposures were transformed into more interesting compositions. This video shows you how.

A Morning with a Canon 10D
Переглядів 1,3 тис.2 роки тому
I shot this during the morning golden hour with a Canon 10D. The Canon 10D is a vintage 6.3 megapixel DSLR that takes soft, painterly images. The images were lightly processed in Lightroom using light painting. Music: Drug for a Hitman by Linear Dawn Orchestra, used with permission. Checkout my website at www.jstefanphoto.com
Canon M50 4K Video With a Viltrox Adaptor

This video compares Canon M50 4K video shot with with a 22mm EF-M lens and a 35mm EF lens using a Viltrox adaptor. The results are not the same! The Viltrox adaptor allows you to use Canon EF mount lenses on the M50 and reduces the crop factor, but at a cost. i sold my 5d that served me well over 15 years and got a pristine 7d secondhand for 150bucks and 2k shuttercounts. i couldnt believe it til i hold it in my hand. its a great update except losing the full frame, but for that i got a used d700 hence i planned to switch to nikon anyways plus prime only lenses. im sure my 7d will be the goto guy for outside on bad weather, sports, streets or else. great image quality, well faster than my old 5d fitting my last canon lens i have 24-105

    Honestly unless you need an APS-C Camera, (And then you should be looking at the 10x range (i.e. 50/60/70/77/80, or 90D range.), for the 200€ or so Dollars burning a hole in your pocket, you couldn't do worse than a 5D MkII, and that should make any Dinosaur brained wannabe Photographer happy. As it looks like a 35mm Body hur-dur... And more importantly still, actually operates like one! Nothing is quite as infuriating as trying to faff 'round with Crop factors, and how that plays into your Apature settings, which leads you down the dark side of taking a mortgage out to buy some f2.8 glass, when f4 on FF just works!

  • @Ichijoe2112
    @Ichijoe2112 9 місяців тому

    Ok perhaps in 2009, with the closest Body being the 50D 15Mpx 1500$ (in 2008), so the 7D, with it's presumably better sealing 1x vs 10x vs 100x vs the entry level 1000x series. Make it an obviously better choice. The additional 10 AF points over the 9 thats on the 5/6D 40/50D is also a plus. But, when the 70/80, and more importantly the 90D came out, what was the point of the 7D? About the only thing I can think of might be the bust speed, reportedly on par with the 1D series. Which was only possible (at that price), because it WAS APS-C.

    Does the canon7D crop factor affects the lens focal length?

    • @jeffstefan3027
      @jeffstefan3027 11 місяців тому

      Yes it does. The crop factor is used to determine a lens true focal length when using a crop sensor camera, such as a canon 7D. The crop factor for Canon crop sensor cameras is 1.6. So a 50mm lens is really 1.6 x50 = 80mm, which is a mild telephoto focal length. You need to be aware of this when buying lenses. I hop this helps.

If I need a little extra reach I slap on my EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM and I've got the equivalent of 480mm at the long end. I'll never let go of my 7D, 18mp is right in the sweet spot. @@jeffstefan3027 Thanks for the answer Jeff. I was trying to connect to the computer via USB cable, but I got "busy" warning on the camera screen, then it totally stopped working. Battery is full, it turned on but no anything. It's pretty new camera despite being an old model. Do you know how to recover it? I appreciate if you can help.

    I just bought an R7 and I'm suppose to sell my 7D. I'm finding so many 7D MKI praise videos! How could I possibly sell it now?

    Now one year later, I can proudly declare the 7D is a wonder camera. So, I bought two used bodies with low shutter counts. What a lovely gem they are. By default I'm an old DSLR lover. So, last year I bought one 5D Classic and one 1D Mark IV, both used but in excellent conditions. Bottomline is; I love my old DSLRs and don't see any need for MILCs. I don't do videos so, least concerned about it. Thank you for the video. BTW, lovely images.

      Quazi, thanks for the comments. I've always wanted a 1D which is an indestructible camera. I love my old DSLRs also.

      @@jeffstefan3027, I suggest you look up MPB used camera store. It shows products available in the EU and UK. Very recently I found excellent quality used Canon 1DIV DSLRs available with them at attractive prices featuring low shutter counts. I bought mine from B&H used department last November for 1k dollars with a shutter count of 42k.

      Avindra, I use the 24-70 most of the time, but I also use a 50 and 35mm fixed lens. I also use an 85mm f1.8 fixed lens a lot, but I really like the quality and flexibility of the 24-70. Very perceptive of you!

    I’ve been trying to get my 10D camera to take pictures but I don’t know how to get to that feature since i don’t know how to get to that point where I can see what the lens sees

    • @jeffstefan3027
      @jeffstefan3027 2 роки тому

      Wolfjuul, if you're starting out use Auto mode and focus on composing shots. You are seeing what the lens sees already, since DSLRs have "through the lens" viewfinders. Take small steps to get where you want to be then change to Av or Tv and play with that. Being a good photographer takes a lot of time and practice, but that's what makes it fun. Good luck!

      @@jeffstefan3027 thanks so much! I do have one thing that I’m having a small problem with is that why the exposure is so dark when I take a picture inside for practice. How do I fix that?

    I fully agree. I got one used from a local camera store (with warranty) as well as a handful of lenses over time and I keep finding more and more things to like about this thing. As you said, I'll be holding onto it hahaha

      @@jeffstefan3027 is it still decent these days for shooting passing motorcycles? - around 3 years ago i sold a few bits of fujifilm gear i had and replaced it with a bridge camera panasonic fz1000 but iv sold that now and i want an interchangeable lens camera so i have a larger sensor and more options with lenses so was looking at the 7d, 7d mk2 or the nikon d7200 but im quite keen on the 7d because i can get a pristine example with warranty for £170 - the 7d mk2 is going to set me back £380 so its more than twice the price of a mint 7d mk1 - i can put the money saved towards a USM 70-200 2.8 lens. Is the 7d MK2 THAT much of a jump over the mk1?

      Jay, that should be an awesome lens. That should put you at ~48mm focal length (1.6 x 30 for the crop factor M50 sensor). This is virtually a 50mm lens and is probably the most versatile focal length of all. Good luck with it!
