@priceandpride. Thanks for watching and commenting. In the 70’s we never had any money to do overseas travel. 😀 With family and such it took us a while to begin traveling outside the USA. A few years ago we had some assistance getting to London but planned a week in Paris on our own. We planned the majority of our trip to Ireland on our own but had some assistance with car rental and first days in Dublin. We were on our own for 95% of the time. This next trip it was advantageous to book our first nights stay in Dublin and the car rental. Our goal is to not have a mistake video after this trip 😂👍 Hope you keep watching!

@IaneHowe thanks so much for watching! Yes, sadly, we knew little about Derry Girls before our trip over, but rest assured, our viewers set us straight in short order! Likewise, we knew nothing about US Preclearance in Dublin, and I nearly had a heart attack before the day was through! Thank heavens for the kind people at Aer Lingus, and Chris's calm demeanor - after nearly 30 years, he's still a keeper!❤🙂 We're headed back over in 2 weeks, this time driving south down the coast from Dublin, and hope to meet up with some of our viewers for a pint or a cuppa. Not so much a suggestion of where to go but more something to do that'll really give you an insight to being Irish. We're a very passionate people and we're at our most passionate when we're ...... at a hurling match (national sport of Ireland, for an eg youtube Limerick versus Clare hurling Munster final 2022. Try get to a game. You can buy tickets on line €10 each. Wait til you're here. Good hurling counties, Galway, Clare, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny. Delibertly left out Tipp (that'll drive them mad). Interounty championship will be over (Apr-July) so it'll have to be a senior club championship match (Sept). Just google GAA senior club hurling fixtures for the county your in or ASK for help wherever you're staying. A local might help you pick a game where there is a lot of local rivalry. Pick a side each and shout for them. You won't regret it

@AthDara62. We’ve had a couple of comments from Irish viewers that mentioned seeing a hurling match. We were hoping to see one but everything we read said the season would be complete. Nothing better than a sporting event with passionate fans (especially rivals) 😀👍 We hoping to try our hand at hurling in Freshford at a Hurling experience (Cavanagh’s Bar) . It should be pretty funny watching Chris flail around at the sliotar 😂 Sounds like Tipp might be a rival 😂 Love it! Great comment, thanks for watching and sharing this with us.

Sorry to hear about all the mishaps with you bookings. You seem a lot more tranquill about it than I would be (I'm Irish). Re. looking for you accommodation in Bushmills, don't be afraid to ask. Anytime I'm going somewhere in Ireland I don't know I don't use satnav or Google maps, I just head in the general direction and ask. Be prepared for a possible long conversation, especially if you stop and ask an old man walking his dog in Mallow Co. Cork. I speak from personal experience! Though I was in a mad rush I had to enjoy him and laugh about it later. I've been asked directions by tourists many times. Once late at night when I knew they had no time to get it wrong I had them follow me in their car until I got out of town (Ennis, a difficult place to navigate) and got them on the right road (to Kilkee)

We look forward to chatting with people along the way! Very kind of you to lead the tourists out of Ennis. Also, loved your story about the old man and his dog in Mallow. Generally Catholics call it "Derry" while Protestants call it "Londonderry". I made the mistake of calling it "Derry" at a Protestant pub in Belfast and was told by one of the patrons "Ya mean Londonderry". I was told later that I was lucky to make it out alive. The "Derry / Londonderry" is pronounced "Derry Stroke Londonderry" and some locals call it "Stroke city".

@rocketsjudoka. You are correct. My favorite version is ‘Stroke City’. Without rambling on as I have a tendency to do, we had some great conversations with really good people in the Republic and Northern Ireland. We found the younger generation wanting to move forward while the older generation will never forget. It’s something Americans don’t think about that much but it’s still a point of contention between the Republic and Northern Ireland citizens. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for watching.

There’s also Ditzler’s Orchard near Rockville; Montezuma has tractor-pulled wagon tours of Wabash & Erie Canal, and a place that serves 32 flavors of soft serve ice cream! Hobson’s Farm outside of Rockville on Strawberry Road has a petting zoo with both farm and exotic animals, and if you don’t mind driving 35 mins or so to Terre Haute, (pronounced Terra-Hote) we hear there’s a nice children’s museum there. My girlfriend lives in Brazil, Indiana and during Covid, we decided to go out and find as many covered bridges in Parke County as we could. Of course, you can't hit all 31 bridges in the samw day, so each trip to Brazil, we would take a day drive and hit 3-5 bridges each time during weekdays when no one else was around. Four years later we have been to every bridge, at least twice and extended our journeys to the connecting counties for about 50 bridges overall. Combined with trips to Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois, we are at 87 bridges so far. I used a lot of my thousands of photos to make calenders, etc. Not only the bridges, but you can find history around every bridge to photograph as well. Absolutely loved doing those drives.

@rickh8993. That was a great idea you had to find something to do during Covid ! I’ve read that Putnam and Vermilion counties have several bridges as well. I grew up in Shelby County and I don’t think there are any bridges left. But, Rush County has several. Lawrence, Jackson and Jennings counties have some historic bridges as well. You might have seen many of those on a drive to Ohio. You’re right, so many backstories behind many of the bridges. Too bad many of them have disappeared over the years. Is there anyplace or site to see your calendars? We both grew up driving small country roads and it’s the best 😀 All the best on adding to your current total. Thanks for watching and commenting!

The most famous tourist spot in the south is the Cliffs of Moher. Tourists often drive to the visitor centre, park in the car park and wander around the area near the car park which is usually crowded (probably not in September though). It will cost you €16 to park there. The alternative is to drive to Liscannor. A farmer has turned his land into a car park. You pay €2 for the day (that was the rate 2 years ago, it may have increased) and you walk along the cliffs from the car park to the visitor centre. It's a beautiful walk along the cliff path and rarely crowded. It takes about an hour. Go on a clear day. It's miserable in the rain. And don't walk too near the edge. The cliff sometimes crumbles away without warning and people have died there. But they marked off a path for walkers and if you stick to that there's absolutely no danger. They've kind of overdone the safety aspect so you can walk outside the marked path (everyone does) but it's safest to stay away from the edge. To find the Liscannor car park, stop in the village of Liscannor and anyone local will give you directions. There's also a pub in the centre of the village that does great seafood but I can't remember its name. You can also walk from the visitor centre to Doolin but I've never done that and a local told me the path is quite rough.

@valcollinsbooks1712 thanks so much for watching and commenting! We had the great pleasure of visiting the Cliffs on our last trip over, and though we didn't park down by Hag's Head, we had lovely weather that day and walked down to there and back to the visitor's center and O'Brien's tower. What stunning scenery! We stayed well away from the edge! We took a look at your author website and ordered your newest book from Amazon! Looking forward to reading it! Thanks again for watching and best of luck with your book series!

And I've certainly never did any editing.. so if this 66 year old could do this in a month of learning, so could you and the Mrs. And this is NOT a expensive Drone ($299), still a lot, but not as much as many of them sell for and it pretty much flies itself! My sister married a Japanese man twenty years ago and they have four children. So we (my grown daughters came, too) stayed with my sister when in Japan. My sister is fluent in Japanese and English but I still learned some basic Japanese like thank you (aragato gozaimasu) and other short polite responses. I only knew thank you in Korean and that was it! But we were in Seoul and we still managed to get around there. The worse thing I did was try to stick Korean won into a metro ticket machine in Japan instead of Japanese yen. Someone nicely commented that I was using the wrong money, lol. The good thing about Colombia is it's cheap once you get there. But be careful of the area. Most Americans stay in the area of Poblado in Medellin but we also liked staying in other parts such as Bello where we only saw the locals. I've been to Medellin five times. Americans often pronounce Medellin incorrectly so look up the proper way to say it before traveling there. Someone corrected the way I said Edinbough (Scotland) so I've since corrected it before we go there this autumn! My husband and I plan to see Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland for the first time ever.

Food in Ireland is now very good and international. Independent coffee shops and bakeries in all towns usually also catering for food allergies. Our supermarkets are very good and multipacks are a much cheaper option for chocolate bars etc.

It was suggested that we name the counties we were visiting to save any confusion. I understand what you’re saying about traditional meals. That type of meal was always best around a table with the family. We’ve eaten many types of world cuisine and I’ve seen many of them represented in Ireland. We even saw American barbecue. I’d like to check out a supermarket in Ireland. Thanks for the tip 😀👍✌ Glad you watched and commented.

Would have to disagree about the food. I grew up on a diet of stews, bacon and cabbage, soda bread, fry ups, colcannon, you name it - and im only 22. Differs everywhere, we're a crowd of farmers from the countryside, could be a different story in towns qnd cities. of course we ate pasta, rice, curries and all the rest too, but the "traditional" stuff isnt as dead as people may think!

@@elll2184 Very glad you commented! Chris’s grandparents could stretch a half pound of beef or pork by making soups or stews by adding cabbage, turnips or potatoes etc from their garden.
