This author in particular likes to take extremely serious moments and totally and completely remove tension with a joke/fanservice gag It's unnecessary and tropey, but there's a certain charm to watching dudes getting merced, hearing all the hype for assault, then what effectively happens is the cat girl trips, assault is embarrassed and then the nun and the cat girl bash his skull in with a pipe, utterly annihilating tension in the middle of a tension riddled arc (tension that's immediately restored in the next set of events) I was in stitches when that happened

The thing about Given is, it is not avg BL, which will include lots of porm, or whatever Idk much, but the story and drama part is less. But in here the characters develop. Each character has a setting and meaning to the manga. It's shows us different spectras of love and stages it endures to refin into its form that we live with. I have rarely came by such mangas and Given is one of em.

I was curious about your take on this manga. It seems to be quite popular, was great to see older MC and the start was super strong. But man... all this manga is fighting, fighting and fighting, without no real substance. Yes, there is some cool moments and now days, I just glaze trough new chapters on these better cooling parts and that's it.

Kafka being an adult changed nothing for the narrative or his relationships he's still got the personal of a teenage shonen protagonist. Author sold hard. Rairairai is kaiju 8 done right same basic concept but the mc has siblings the world building for the impact of the monsters is fully shown always in the background and probably my most favorite part is art, big explosions smooth actions , different transforms , unique monsters from the jump and the side cast is a lil silly but had endering moments with and without the mc.

I was one of the original readers for this manga, but dropped it around chapter 30. I realized that despite how cool the monsters and setting were, the manga itself was just about as cookie cutter as it could get. Nice video and I look forward to more.

For me, I read it because it's similar to the Korean manhwa, The broken ring: This marriage will fail. Both characters are strong. Neither are pushovers. I'm getting sick of the strong, crazy, problematic mcs ending up with the shy type characters who get confident in the end in shounen. Having two mcs who already have their shit together is interesting.

I am enjoying this story a lot. Wondering how are they going to animate chapter 38 as still not available in printed English. I hope it does not get cancelled because of that as I really want to know more about the characters background. I think there is still a lot that can be told. If anything I think the. Best so far is that I could have never predicted the way things have developed at all and the constant shift between serous dialog vs comedy relief definitely delivers in making the heaviness of a yakuza drama a lot more light and appealing to those who are looking for a different twist to a classic romantic story

A strong female character like Kwon from the Halo tv shows

I faithfully read this story for Yoshino. Her character is SUCH a breath of fresh air compared to other female leads. She either totally goes against cliches or puts her own twist on them- I LOVE it! Manga/anime usually drop the ball on female characters. They’re usually so much less interesting then the men. Here, we finally have a girl who won’t make herself small for the men around her, and isn’t boxed into acting cute, or feminine. She also won’t dwell on how she feels or is treated, if she’s upset or disrespected she’ll make herself heard. For the romance- she can fall in love or not idc. It’s fun how awful they make kirishima because the worse he is, the more entertaining it is watching Yoshino deal with him. He’s a great character too! You’re so right to say another selling point is that they’re both themselves. Unapologetically.

I think its because both of the leads are insane. Like yoshino is really crazy to be able to take in all this shit and be like yeah imma take one year of this.

I'd say that it's because the male lead's character is complex and very interesting; while the female lead is not one to back down, keeps it real but doesn't take any shit. Basically and mentally wise, he's weird, she's strong.
