Hello! I'm Ryan and welcome to my channel!
The main focus on this channel is the rebuilding of my 1983 14x66 Single Wide Mobile Home that I purchased on a half acre lot in a semi rural HOA neighborhood.
I have a few other projects that I will be sharing too.
One is the rebuilding of a vintage Balboa Camper Van on a Chevy G30 van chassis.
Another project is a refurbishing of a Vintage 1962 Scott McCullough fiberglass runabout boat.
When the bulk of these projects are done I will also be working on the landscaping of my tiny homestead which will include construction of a few outbuildings, to include a wood shop, auto shop, guest house, and storage shed.
Welcome and hope you stick around as I share my journey with y'all!

Bedroom Drywall Rough In on the Old Single Wide Mobile Home Build
With those big doors with the seventies style grooves, I know you talked about filling them and putting wood around the edges to make shaker style doors. Why don’t you just flip the doors inside out so the grooves are on the inside? Then you’d have a smooth face to put wood on the edges, and maybe only have a screw hole or two to fill.
Looking good! If you want to paint cabinets or doors with a brush and roller, throw some Flood Floetrol in it. It will level out and almost look sprayed.
Utility trailers are so much better than having a truck! You have the bed when you need it, and you have enclosed storage all the time!
Marty...from Marty's dam channel...sent me over and subscribe 😊
@@smileygirl1840 nice! Sad he doesn’t post so much these days. Welcome!
I had a pavilion with the exact same metal-frame, very flimsy.I put it up and the next wind blew it up into a tree. If there wasn't a rope dangling down that i could grab I would have had a hard time to get it back. So I used all the straps and ropes to fix it better. The next day the wind blew slightly harder and ruined it completely. So i took a look to the instructions again and found the following words: "Only for inside use". Were they kidding me?
Inside use only!?!?! OUch! So crazy! But yeah these things are not well built for sure.
Congrats on the new Land Rover! I thought you purchased two white trucks, at one point. Did you get rid of both? Man, I can’t believe your mom had that flat bed in the backyard. Seems like that would have come in handy sooner. 😉
I had a grey one that was my driver but it was in rough cosmetic shape and did have almost 300K on it. Did run great though. The white one had a shot engine but was in great cosmetic shape. I bought it cheap to put the fancy things on the grey truck but I ended up just parting it out instead of swapping the parts. Still have a few parts left. Sold the grey one before it broke down and I was looking to go back to an 8' bed truck but then I couldn't find one for a good price. Was able to pick this Rover up for just $2200 cause it had a few issues. Fixed the coolant leak and the brake issue so I can drive it but I'm sure there is going to always been some little thing wrong with it. Yeah I've had that trailer sitting at my moms place for about 5 years now. Didn't need it having a truck and all but now it's def going to come in handy again. Bought it about 20 years ago. Been one of the best investments I've ever made.
@ oh yes, one truck was for parts. I remember you said that. Well you’re moving up now. That was a great deal on the Land Rover!
Are the legs/metal sturdy on it? I need a metal frame to put chicken wire on and use as a chicken run
Good idea! Yeah it would def be good for that use. You can probably find one like this that doesn't have the cover anymore for free on marketplace.
Spray some flex seal over roof top seams to seal it ?
Thanks! Yeah, I have a wax type seam sealer made for tents and I was thinking about using that.
Opps 😮
For real.
Hello there 🤠
Howdy partner! ;)
lookin good! Cant wait to see the deck build
Thank ya much! Hopefully I'll get some monies before spring to buy the lumber so I can this built before summer. Def want to enjoy time sitting out on it in the sun! Hope all is well!
Glad to see you protecting your lungs! Always remeber Concrete is wht you're using, Cement is just the fine powder that makes the concrete.
Thanks! Yeah I used to get bad bronchitis as a kid (from trying to be cool with the smoking and always breathing two stroke exhaust riding motorcycles) and that def was no fun. Then I worked in a snowboard factory just out of high school, constantly breathing resins, fiberglass, and sandblasting silica. I tried to protect myself there too but it took a toll on my health big time so yeah, I try to keep all the bad dusts and especially VOC's out of my body if I can help it.
working hard again, it will be awesome for you, hope you and pups are all well hugsx
Thank! Always appreciate the hugs!!!
next one.....🤨 lol
Got one or two in the que! ;)
Great work Ryan, that’s looking good, hard to believe it is the same place you bought in disrepair with all that stuff. Not all of Canada worries about frost 😂
didn't know his name until now...
Thanks! Yup, come a long way over the years that's for sure! Yeah pretty temperate near the southern coast and Vancouver island I'm sure. Was just talking about going to Expo 86 in Vancouver with some friends today and all the times out at Butchart gardens on the island, riding the double decker buss's and tea at noon at the Empress. Good times!
You are going to enjoy this come spring.
Yup yup! Hope to get it done by then so I can finally have a summer to do non house building stuff.
I have that same Augar from Harbor Freight and used it for my deck and saved me so much time ⏲️ 😊
Other than the cord getting away, I really like it. Used it a bunch on some fence posts I just set this week. Sooo much better than breathing two stroke fumes from the gas powered ones.
we are having a pre-thanksgiving snow storm here in the Pocono's. Did not rise above 32 the entire day. I think I like your type of weather better, cool but not cold. Is that a door covered up above the rear deck ?
I feel you there! There is a door frame opening but I just haven't cut open the area since I put the new siding on last year. Hope to get the door jam set in there this coming spring too.
7 days ago. How did I miss it.
No notifications maybe? Just glad you finally caught it! Thanks!
Looks great 👍
Appreciate it!
@ yw
Oh fun… I am about to do this as well. Yay. Good job
Enjoy! Ha! Thank you!
A great video. Loved it. IYou always work with such precision and you always do it the right way. Interior, exterior. Such a well-built home. Thanks for an excellent video!
Thank you very much! Much appreciated!
Ok, What's next ! lol
More mudding of drywall! Always soooooo fun..... Ha!
Ok, What's next ! lol
✨🏆✨😊
Thanks!
I live in Ohio so we contend with frost heave, without digging 2 feet deep do you think footers like this would be sufficient for my climate zone if I did a couple inches of gravel under the footer? Looking at doing slab on grade style footers like this for a shed without digging to china
I would suggest you do the 2 feet deep. That is probably what code is and there is a reason that code would say 2 feet deep. I think this home is in either Oregon or Washington, and he probably should do it deeper also. Oops, I did not read far enough to see that you are talking about a shed. Code may be different for a shed. Call you county permit office. They can tell you.
Yeah, as Jenny said, in heavy frost heave areas you def want to go 2' down. We rarely get freezing temps so surface level footers work where I'm at. That said, if you're doing a small shed that is small enough to not need a permit, you'd probably be good at surface set footers since the shed would be fine flexing around a bit I imagine.
good job, another item off the list, hope your well take it easy hugsx
Yup yup! Was able to start working on the drywall finishing on the bumpout interior since I got this done. Thank you!
Good e, blessings
Thank ya much! :)
Loving these quick updates! I’m so glad you got all the footers shored up before the winter. It takes a great deal of patience to manage all of projects. But somehow, you make it look so easy!
Aint nothing to it but to do it! Ha! Thanks, and yeah I wanted to get that one knocked out so I could feel better about mudding up the drywall inside the bumpout. Didn't want to finish inside only to have it crack if I had to move it around adjusting footers afterwards.
@ man! That is my family motto, “ain’t nothing to it but to do it.” ❤️ And before the drywall makes perfect sense!
Great job, have you thought of filing the cinder blocks with cement to add more strength?
Thanks! I think I thought about that way back when I first started the build many years ago but it just seemed like a lot of extra work and cost. I think these are fairly strong so long as the forces are coming from straight up top and no lateral pressures.
I think you did a great job!
Thank ya much!
Wheelbarrow good for mixing cement.Wheelbarrow and hoe.Good for abs too! CHEERS from HERE!
Ah yes, I need to bring mine home as it's been sitting at my moms for years. Thanks for the reminder!
That was too short. I was really enjoying it all and then BAM! it was over. ;)
Sorry, just finished that aspect and didn't want to drag into the next project or it would have felt disjointed I think. But yeah, abrupt ending for sure. I'm def no professional youtuber.
THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME DUDE you deserve more recognition for this ^^
Thanks for that great compliment! Much appreciated!
I wish I had copper sink. It will look great shined up ! Are you going to paint the ceiling white ?
Thanks! Yeah I drove 3 hours to pick that sink up! (I was heading out that way anyway). Not going to paint the ceiling white as I love the natural wood tones. Cheers!
The kitchen's coming along great. How are your cooking skills? What's the best thing you can make?
Thanks! I'm really good at just heating things up! Ha! I can cook but I prefer not to do much of it. I was good at making wood fired pizza/s from scratch when I lived with friends who had a wood fired overn.
looking good my friend
Appreciate that, thanks Paul!
Thanks for sharing and the update. Its looking good. 😊
Thanks so much! Happy to share!
How the 2x5 floor joists are connect to the metal frame?
Not sure if I showed it in the video but I connect the outer edge by drilling through the joists and putting in a carriage bolt though that bolts into the outer metal wings. Hope that helps.
It's good when you have nice neighbours 🙂
So very true!
not a snake lover...by
Everything is coming together nicely....all the best !
Thank you sooo much! Sorry about the snake! ;)
It’s looks go good with your level 4.5 drywall😊
Ha! It sure does! Been working on a lot more of that this week too! Soooooo dusty!
The end is in sight. I can’t wait until it’s done.
You and me both! Ha! ;)
You're correct.. It's not a mansion.. But it will be soon matey. It's looking finger lickin good.. Isn't that what you Americans say.?? 🤔😉😉😁
Finger licking good? Ha! Good for sure but not sure I want to know what it tastes like! ;)
@thesomewhathandyman9400 .. Only one way to find out.. 🤭🤭🤪👍👍
Moving right along. I love the colors your going with. As always love the pooches! What your doing is no easy job I'm sure you know it! Keep on rocking looks awesome!!!
Yeah, it's def a slow process but I think it will be worth it in the end!. Thanks!
Looks really nice!
Thank you very much!!!
Love the look!!!
