Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Lacks an Identity - Much Monday

Does this count as a review? I saw the Sonic movie and thought it was a mixed bag so I'm gonna open that bag and talk about what's inside! In a weird way, the movie perfectly captures the main problem with Sonic the Hedgehog: his lack of an identity. I had to add a cut into this episode because someone had the audacity to CALL ME during recording. I went three episodes without having to edit, o...

Frozen 2 Is Surprisingly Anti-Imperialism - Much Mondays

How Breath of the Wild Guides You

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was heralded as the epitome of open world gameplay. Breath of the Wild manages to give the player a sense of freedom, while also guiding the player enough so they never feel lost or like they don't know what to do. Another way that they keep the player on track I realized very early, is that if you don't go to Kakariko Village First, and head towards a different tower, you will encounter a harder challenge, with enemies you probably aren't familiar yet, if you follow the path to kakariko tough, the challenge is kept within the same level of the great plateau.

    Imo, Mario Golf Advance Tour and Mario Tennis Powet Tour are my best game for Mario Sport Series in GBA. The best part of both game is, you are allowed to allocate the EXP and this EXP system gives you a chance to play even more interesting challenge such as beating the game as Lv. 1 Single Category. I managed to play it with such a restriction and both games are beatable. For Mario Tennis Power Tour, playing it with that restrictions in Technical Difficulty is a nightmare but fun.

    GREAT video. I agree. Breath of the Wild is linear. I never left the great plateau because it would not let me. I refused to do the "linear path" that the "old man" asked. I went looking around. I learned some mechanics. Then I found the edge of the cliff. I tried jumping. Nope. How about climbing down? Nope. I was quite confused. Then I learned you are forced to talk to the old man IF you want to get off the plateau. I went along with the first shrine. But then I was quickly put off by the lie. In fact, I thought it was stupid for the old man to promise the glider after one shrine, then to lie to Link and force him to do a bunch of other shrines. That is as linear as it gets. You are forced to do the path, and it does not matter if you do A, B, C, D or A, D, C, B etc, the bottom line is that Nintendo is still stuck in linear gameplay. Too bad. This game had a lot of potential. A real letdown. I suppose I was spoiled... I played Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim, and after you leave the Helgen Keep, you can literally go anywhere on the whole map. You are not stuck on a plateau. Skyrim did it correctly. You KNEW the Helgen area was a linear tutorial. But in BOTW, it sadly falls short. It fakes you out. You leave the cave and are supposedly introduced to the "open world".. But that is a lie. You must do linear stuff in order to "unlock" the open world. I just couldn't be bothered. It was not very enjoyable. I may not have a popular opinion on this game. Nevertheless, I agree with your take on the secretly linear nature to this "open world" Link title. Keep up the great analysis.

    The thing is... my inner child still wants to visit the Factory, the Union, and wherever places the rivals came from. I wanna explore the city outside the tennis academy. I wanna make more friends, and maybe once in a while play doubles with someone else. When I get to the top of the varsity team, I want other students to challenge me. I wanna explore the Mushroom Kingdom, and interact more with those characters. I don't want another sequel. I want a remastered EXTENDED version of the original GBC game. A game they'll most likely never make.

    Love Star Wars. Know it inside and out. Could probably beat anyone at Star Wars trivia besides Alex from Star Wars explained or Sam Witwer lol. What I hate is the fandom menace. They have indoctrinated their viewers and turned them into hate mobs. There are a lot of viewers of those channels that don’t even realize that there’s things in Star Wars that have come out that they wouldn’t hate but since they watch those channels everyday they do hate it. It’s just human nature. If you take in constant negativity daily and told how bad something is and how you should hate this or that, you ain’t gonna go into anything unbiased lol.

    I miss the rpg story mode style too, the crossover between Golden Sun (with "real world" characters) and Mario Bros [which gave me the same sensation when I played Kingdom Hearts]; there's also the way of acquiring Power Shots by completing minigames until tou reach the requirements, and then you can select the ones you like, along with your stats that you build during the game, to improve your tennis playing style. For Mushroom Heavens' sake, Nintendo! How long will It take for the penny to freaking drop?? What made Mario Tennis really special?

    • @daviemerim25
      @daviemerim25 4 роки тому

      Yeah, AND the same goes to Paper Mario series. You notice Nintendo Is pretty much experimentalistic with its games; either they come with new mechanics (sometimes even ending up creating a whole new franchise, which was Paper Mario's case), or just insist on changing things that are so perfect no one would want to change anything except for the graphics (which also was Paper Mario's case!).

    • @muchthink535
      @muchthink535 4 роки тому

      @@daviemerim25 That's true, it seems like a lot of the time they only want to make a game if they're able to re-invent the wheel, when a lot of fans just want a really well made iteration of something they did well before. Paper Mario is a good example of how they expanded what was good about the original with Thousand Year Door, and then every game after has attempted to rethink the series.

    Good point. If that's the case it would also tie into why he wanted Luke to strike him down, though I think that's supposed to be more him turning Luke evil because it's a generally evil thing to do, and he was never in any real danger of Luke given all the dark side stuff he can do. I feel like Palpatine did work a lot better as a generally nefarious fantasy evil wizard who generally just likes doing bad stuff and controlling people. Now that hes set up as some grand planner and organizer of 50 or so years worth of events, it does feel like he should have had a clear end goal in mind

    • @muchthink535
      @muchthink535 4 роки тому

      Yea I think that's a good point. What kind of ends up happening here is making us wonder about some bigger scheme that was never really intended. From the previous movies it seemed like he just wanted power, but now we're forced to find reasons for why he wanted it. I do like the idea that even Luke could have factored into the "strike me down" concept though. Either way I just wish that something clearer had been presented.

  • @Eresea
    @Eresea 6 років тому

    I just played the game and I'm gonna be honest, I was expecting a strange story with maybe a couple good characters. Oh boy was I wrong, this game, to me, is absolutely fantastic. The music and the graphics alone are a reason to play the game, it's a game you enjoy, it's made in a way that doesn't stress you out and has characters that are actually perfectly believable, you play this game like you are a part of the life of the characters, roaming through the land in your car helping people along the road. The story is great, could have been more developed but then again it's Final Fantasy, stories of Gods and Demons. They made taking photos a part of the gameplay and it was an awesome idea, at first you can find the concept odd, not used to being so close to the game but as you progress and hit the end of the game you are rewarded with a real account of the good moments you had playing and I think this is the reason why FF XV feels like an experience, a real journey and not just a quest for power/fame. I'm not saying the game is perfect, it's not, the biggest fault being the quests. It feels like an MMO in the sense that the quests can be repetitive, talk for a brief dialogue go to the place kill the monster come back to end quest. But the main story doesn't feel the same, which is great because the story really drives you forward. All in all, one of the best experience I've had and one of the rare games where I find that everyone will have a different game in front of them, that's how the game is lived.

    • @muchthink535
      @muchthink535 6 років тому

      It is definitely different for each person who plays it, that's a good way to put it. The current version of the game is quite good and really tweaks the bits that made it weaker a year ago. I'm pretty satisfied with where it's at, because despite my gripes it's still a blast to play.

    Fantastic video! Very good analysis on why the Adventure Mode in Aces is the way it is. I personally wasn't sure what to expect from it as I wasn't familiar with the more story focused games, but having now played the them recently, I think I can see why people want a story mode like theirs to return. Thank you! It is nice to hear that someone else absolutely loved the side quests. Sure, there were one or two that I didn't care for ( gathering 55 Rushrooms) but overall it is one of my favorite parts of the game and I felt they were beautifully designed to teach you different things. The only issue I have with people complaining who don't like the side quests is that you don't have to do them if you don't like them. Really what more can you ask for? If you are not a side quest lover....don't do them. To me that was part of the brilliance of this game. If you love the game like I do and are a completionist you can do that. If you don't like an aspect of the game or have no interest, then don't. It is all up to you on how you play it.

    • @muchthink535
      @muchthink535 6 років тому

      Thanks, I'm right there with ya. I also loved how much variety there is in the quests, so if one of them sounds boring to you (the Rushrooms for example) you have plenty of other options available. I know some people don't like how some of the quests are narratively thin, but I think they're more designed to keep you exploring than to feed you a story. I like how most of them *have* a little bit of narrative context, but I don't need them to be denser.

      Victor Vasconcellos the Royal Edition is a pretty significant upgrade and definitely worth it at the sale price. It’s easily the best version of the game and feels more true to what the devs clearly wanted the game to be. There’s still a bit of story stuff that is just fundamentally broken and can probably never be fixed, but it’s forgivable in the grand scheme of things.

      Ah yep that would've helped for sure. With all the effort they put into making the world feel real, that extra step would've gone a long way.

    Just got a new GPU and I am thinking about buying this game and getting the HD package. Running a i7-4770k @3.5 ghz, 16 GB ram, and a zotac 1080 ti.

    This game does look good but the main characters look like a Japanese version of Take That or Backstreet boys

    I agree with pretty much everything you've said in this Its important to build confidence and reveal heavy hitters when the time is right

      Thanks for the response! Yea "build confidence" is a good way to put it. The Switch is selling stupidly fast and I think Nintendo's plan to keep that going is by playing the long game and making the available content varied.

      Wow I'm sorry to hear that! So you saved over the same file? How much progress had you made, like was that a cleared game completely erased?

      muchthink it was actually chapter select and i was on my way to the last 3 lvl 99 dungeons. Dont even know why but you have to pick a file or something to start on instead of just playing that chapter

    Great video. I feel very much the same. I'm having a hard time deciding if or when I want to come back to play this game. I almost certainly want to play it again, but I'm having hopes that they may include the dlc episodes (which I haven't bought or played) into the main story. I'm also unsure of what they are going to continue to improve, seeing as they just announced they will continue to work on the game through 2018. I may wait for the PC release. Overall I agree, the story was a mess.. but the ideas behind it were incredible. I seriously hope they go in and try to continue to revise and retune. I would love to be able to come back and play what is essentially a directors cut of the game.

      Personally I was saving my New Game + run for when everything was released...but now that they've announced an entirely new season pass I feel like I'm back to square one. The DLC is great though and I would hope that with the addition of character swapping they would at least give you the option to play those episodes at their normal place in the story..but they haven't announced that yet. AFAIK the PC release will include all of the 2017 season content so that may be a good compromise for you?
