G'day, Trev here. People have been badgering me to digitize the Warrabongardie Film and Sound Archives for yonks. "Trev," they'd say, "Why don't you flamin' take that stuff out of your shed and put it on the Internet." Well, I've just found out what that is. So, with the help of Beryl's grandson Jayden, I'm doing it. After milking and before debarking the back fence. Alright, alright. Calm down. At least I'm getting on with it okay.
Now, let me just say something about the stuff I'm chucking on this Inter-thing. I don't want any bloody legal bother from some jumped-up lawyer over copyright. I'm just trying to find a home for bits and pieces that aren't available anywhere. Call it a public service if you will. If people have a problem with that then let me know. I'll take the clip down. I'm not trying to chisel anyone out of their dough. As for me, I don't make a red cent out of any of it.
Anyway, best be getting back to it.

Clive spruiks the world-beating marvels of Australian Telecom. In New York, he argues that too much choice is a bad thing and that it is "simpler" to be lumbered with a monopoly telco. In Germany, he boasts how Telecom is beating the Germans in the high speed race to install optical fibre (Ed: shurley shome mishtake?). On the ground, the reality seemed different. The Government sold Telecom fiv...

I write this at a little after 11.00pm on 21st July, 2024, some five years after the passing of Clive James. He is *sorely missed* but watching this again I still got a hearty chuckle from Clive's opening lines. *RIP Clive James,* we will never see your like again and therein lies the pity.
The F22 was featured at 13:41.... Was its design known at this point in 1992 ?
ALL P00FTERS
Forgot John Mangos was even at Channel Ten.
Get this. My wife and I got lunch at Marks and Spencer in Hastings. We shared a table with a couple around our age and found they had organised the burial of the Spike. Town’s nearby, has a grave of an Irish Catholic in the local Anglican graveyard. It’s engraved with his phase in Gaelic “I told you I was sick.” Beautiful. RIP Terrance.
Watching on my cell phone in 2024.
Arena was a great documentary series, and this is a wonderful example of what it could achieve. 36:27 says everything about his real view of fairness, still even Scarfe can't get it right all the time.
Be great 👍 for all...
Sad that these sort of programmes no longer exist on tv. Just full of banal "reality" shows and tallentless tat.
So, yeah, I’ve just heard Paul McDermott sing “I’m wet and I’m moist!” So……I’m done.
Geoffrey is the best husband to have, his lucky wife ! ❤❤❤ and Clive for the comedy ❤❤❤
Sir Geoffrey can help poor Julian Assange ❤❤❤❤
Such handsome intellectual men ❤❤❤
Unfortunately this goes for business owners. Like the ones who cant ever keep anyone but i woild imagine there is a Peter in most of them too.
0:25 Man it must take a lot of patience to speak in a crowd people who will not stop chanting at you, I probablt wouldn't be able to hold back from telling everyone to shut up so I can speak.
Hard to tell if you're joking around in description or if you actually hate the Beatles'
It's irony, heaped on sarcasm, baked in satire and served on mockery.
It's interesting to see that misconceptions and revisionist history was strong and healthy even back then before social media... Henry Ford did not invent the car nor was he the first to mass produce them, yet that's what is implied in this episode!
33:20 accurate prediction on streaming services
20:38 This prediction was so wrong, I'm watching this video on a PC.
Absolutely brilliant. I love all his last words and that he called the war the Adolf Hitler show.
The one thing they didn't predict, is how the internet would quicken global interactions, awakening the masses to the deep corruption of our so called " Leaders".
Beyond 2000: "Upwards of 3 Trillion dollars could be spent online yearly" . I just checked.. "The amount of money spent on online consumer goods purchases in 2023 reached US$3.15 trillion"
Virtual Reality had a false dawn in the early 90s with primitive VR games and the film Lawnmower Man. The technology simply wasn't there at the time.
It's safe to say the Nintendo VirtualBoy in 1995 killed the VR craze of the 1990s.
I love the part where Gough Whitlam says, if I had the job I would do it every bit as well as anybody else who's had it.... nudge, nudge, wink, wink. He was a very funny man.
He was absolutely fascinating and equally talented!
They should create a new series, "Beyond 3000".
A historical documentary about computers... now AI is promising the future. It sounds like deja vous.
In London where I worked, a workmate was once boyfriend of the daughter for a while and he went to the house a few times, one time Spike had trashed the house in depression, a lovely but troubled man once get to know him according to my pal at work (welder fabricator)
Norman Gunston is depressed about rating '11' on the ABC on a Sunday night, how quaint. (Ok, that's really bad for 3 channels, but it's amazing for 50+ countless streaming services.)
Where is Frank Now?!
Gough the most intelligent Man of the last of the last 70 years
2.37..what the hell!
Spikes all surveying eye
Much, much love for Barry from Florida USA! And Edna and Les, too! Barry, you will live on and on and on, on UA-cam! 😊
lol I had an intel 486
That flight sim has a F-22 in it. This was before the year 2000. It's 2023 and still the best jet in the world.
Legendary TV
What the fark has Ita Bumtrose done to the ABC there’s nothing like this anymore
Visit Canberra now and it is no longer a beautiful city. Labor has been in power here for over 20 years. Left-wing governments are aesthetic barbarians. Look at any city after 50 years of Communism or any other western cities with left-wing local government.
Was this a series? How many episodes were broadcast? I cannot find anything about it online. Thanks for sharing though - very amusing!
Aussie Gold !!!
Awesome memories revived Tah for sharing this !!!
Apart from the fantastic content of this show....it demonstrated the beauty of the three minute ad break.....before it was about squeezing in a toilet break.....now it's about being able to scroll down and read the comments.
This was a staple of my childhood, and gave me so much hope for the future. Now, here I am, living in the future, which is now the present, and I'm presently very depressed at how it all turned out. At least the intro song still gives me a small amount of warm fuzzies.
Why are you depressed about how it all turned out?
It's 2023, and AI is being rolled out fast.
A user focused design ethos is important... but if you've ever held focus group sessions, you will know that users haven't a clue what they want or what might become of the future. This video seems as most like this to only present vague top down popular notions of what matters in computing. No actual understanding of or asking the questions required to develop a reasonable method of predicting the future of computation. Seems as though the producers are as ignorant as their audience. Sad. I call this shovel-ware, filling the channel with shit. They never seemed to ask anyone with anything like the sort of intelligence or insight of say Jef Raskin, Douglas Engelbart, or Alan Kay. There are people out there with more knowledge about the future of computing than XYZ executive of XYZ corporation.
1 in a million
The video editor has definitely risen to their level of incompetence becase the music and graphics are simply awful.
[Loved this show. But a hot chick can still get a nice house for a tuppence. ;)
Car transport analogies are kind of cringy :)
Using the word cringy for everything is kind of cringy.
@@chalkandcheese1868 No, just for this video. For example, your mother is not cringy.
