Hear Pal Here
Hungary
Приєднався 3 вер 2015
Greetings and welcome to "Hear Pal Here"! I've created this channel in order to share my music with you.
I'm primarily a guitar player but also play drums and bass a little bit. I'm mostly self taught but learned some key things from close friends and band mates. My playing is informed by rock, blues, jazz, and my native Hungarian folk music. I've been in several bands to date (Some Band, Red Hot Mammas, and Sentient End being the longest lived of them) but this channel will be focused on my individual musical efforts.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'll do my best to reply to comments and messages.
If you would like to use any of the media found on this site for commercial purposes, please contact me via the email listed below. Please do the same if you'd like to collaborate on music together. Otherwise, please feel free to share with friends and subscribe to the channel.

Danelectro Dan-Echo versus Mooer Reecho - Quick Demo, No Talking
I recently acquired a Danelectro Dan-Echo after lusting after one for quite a long time. How does it fare compared to the Mooer Reecho pedal that I've been using for a couple of years? You be the judge.
Let me know in the comments if you have a preference between the vintage pedal and the inexpensive modern one.
Equipment used:
- mid 1960's Silvertone Bobkat 1476 electric guitar
- 2010's? Laney Cub 10 tube amp
- 1990's Danelectro Dan-Echo delay
- 2010's? Mooer Reecho delay

I Played This Guitar For Over 15 Years & Never Changed The Strings!
Good review . spoke of unheard of (bad) features
Wouldn't be an honest review if I didn't 🙂 It's a personal pet peeve when people mask a glorified commercial as a review. Glad you liked it, thanks for the comment!
Nice video, Nice uplode, My friend. 👍🎸🎶
Thanks for checking it out Hiro!
Nice tone bro!!
Thanks man! I really dig this Danelectro and the amp is cool too. Laney had a good thing going with these little Cub 10's.
Sounds amazing 🤩 Bravissimo 🎸🎼
Thank you very much!
Exceptionnal brighting inspired and talented demo! Splendid and luminous! Big big like!
Much appreciated, thank you for listening!
The Danelectro seems to have a bit more depth and resonance to my ear. But I'm not very smart about effect🤣🤣. Cool demo! 👍👍
Thanks a lot for checking it out, I really appreciate it. I did prefer the Danelectro and have since sold the Mooer. But that is a really great budget friendly pedal none the less. It can also do a nice warble on the delay with the other setting of the little toggle switch.
Nice, those Danelectro pedals are really underrated. My personal favourite delay is the Boss DD-5. Got a DD-6 when mine got stolen and it didn't sound the same so bought a 2nd hand DD-5. I've got a Truetone One Spot power supply too.
Nice, I'm really happy with the Truetone (I got it used but it works perfectly). I've heard from several people that they have a favorite among the DD series - there are definite differences between the various versions. I love these old Danelectro pedals - their new line has several really cool looking options too. Have you seen the Nichols 1966? That's got a really cool backstory too.
Well done! keep it up
Thank you so much my friend! I hope you are doing well.
I’m thinking of buying this guitar for my son, curious to see how it’s holding up after a year!
Thanks for the question, it's actually playing really well and holding tune too. I'll be posting new videos again after a lengthy absence from youtube. I'll definitely do a video update on this guitar. In the meantime, I would say, go ahead and feel free to buy one for your son. My son is still playing this and we've had no issues with it (after fixing the things shown here).
Great video, just discovered your channel. 3 weeks into learning guitar. Will you be uploading more videos about this book? Or any other videos about mindset, philosophy, etc?
That is great to hear, I wish you much success and fun on your journey! Thank you for your kind words regarding this video, I'm glad you found it useful. Yes, I do plan on uploading more videos but have been incredibly busy unfortunately. I've also moved a few months ago and haven't been able to setup for recording videos again. I plan to remedy this situation in the next month or so. Thank you for watching Hiro, I really appreciate it!
Nice video, Thank you for sharing. My friend.👍
Thank you Hiro, I appreciate it!
I don't use vacuum tube amplifiers now, but I used to. They broke down a lot and I failed to repair them many times. It's great to be able to fix them.👍😃
A bit of electrical know how and willingness to experiment can help save a lot of money when using musical gear. I did a video a while back about repairing guitar cables and talk about basic soldering skills too. I hope you still have your tube amps, they may still be worth quite a bit of money now! Have them checked out by someone Hiro 🙂
Wow! Amazing ! It was fantastic, Nice uplode, My friend. 👍👏🎸
Thanks Hiro! I hope you are doing well.
With a push/pull tone control for split-coil and a three-way toggle PUP selector mod, these guitars KILL.
I can absolutely imagine that being great! If I had kept it, I would definitely have performed some mods for sure. These are really great guitars.
Thank you, I appreciate you. Keep it up! 20
Thank you very much!
I just picked up a harmony H-802 and I love it. I play it with a Phil jones bass amp and it sounds amazing. Like a jazz master sound. ❤
That is great to hear! These old instruments have a mojo of their own. Not familiar with that Harmony model but it looks really cool, love the look of the pickups!
Thank you for the video. Just got the book. I'm very new to guitar. Sounds like this is going to help me start my guitar journey on the right foot. I'd love to hear your idea about your journey with the book as well. Please continue making the clips. Thank you.
I'm so glad that you are learning guitar and that you found this book! Apologies for not replying sooner, I'm returning to youtube after an extended absence. I hope to be making new videos again soon and will definitely make new ones for this series too. How are you finding the instrument? I hope you are able to make good use of the lessons from the book.
My first bass. 38 years later, still my #1. Lindy Fralin’s are the pickups live in it now. Soon am adding a badass ii bridge to be installed. Mine is factory black.
Cool, nice to hear someone else being happy with one! Sorry for the slow reply, I'm returning to youtube soon after a lengthy absence.
Also, thanks for letting me know that yours is factory black. Others have commented that they have black ones (original color) too. So, this is probably factory too - the red may be some kind of primer or grain filler?
Yeah mine was all loose on the turning keys... just like yours. My bridge was a little loose.. not as bad as yours. Fun guitar to play. I like it. Mine is from 2020.. second owner. Its cool
Really glad you sorted out the issues. They are fun little guitars actually! I'm returning to youtube after an extended break and will hopefully be posting new videos again soon. I'll do an update on this guitar (my son still plays it now).
Seems like this guy just loosed this stuff intentionally to make a bad video. I’ve been playing for 40yrs and I own 6 of these because I am very particular and typically modify my instruments and for years have been looking for an instrument like this and love the Power Players from Epiphone
Right… clearly it’s a conspiracy 🤡
@KodyBaker00 I'm not sure why you think I would do that. I specifically even say that I bought this used and can't say for sure how it would have gotten into this state. Regardless, I've fixed up the guitar and it now plays pretty well and stays in tune OK too. I'm returning to youtube after an extended absence and will post an update video about this guitar soon.
I'm just starting out playing guitar and very well seasoned guitarist in my area suggested that I read this book. I like the phrase "no words can teach us how to ride a bicycle". I can agree with that statement. I have to experience it for myself by practicing. I'm a little intrigued about the book now. 😀
I apologize for not replying sooner (I'm returning from an extended absence from youtube). Have you picked up a copy of the book? I hope you are enjoying it!
Love this. Fantastic
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome back! Great Idea sounds very good! Merry Christmas to you and yours ☃️🎄⭐️
Thanks a lot Hepti! Apologies for replying so late - I'll hopefully be posting again soon. It's almost time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas again 🙂 I hope you are doing well!

Merry Christmas to you and your family Pál! ⛄ 🎄 🎀 Happy New Year! 🎉 🎉 Sounds great! 🎶 🎶
Thank you so much! Sorry for being so absent, I'm going to try and get back into making videos again (on both channels). I hope you are doing well!
@@hearpalhere You're welcome! I have been absent myself due to my health, but I have recovered. 😊
@@Falafelzebub Glad to hear that!
That's a new bridge Tremolo feature, You just grab it with two fingers and move it back and forth when you're playing😅
Haha, that is a perfect way to turn lemons into lemonade! Sorry for replying so late, I'm returning to youtube after an extended absence. I'll be posting videos again soon and will provide an update on this guitar too. It's actually quite fine now, holds tune pretty well.
@@hearpalhere - I bought a new one, and I put some fender locking tuners on it and through on some 10s, I love it :) My bridge is stoute though. I also got the mini strat for my son, and its nice also.
@@HiltsyAdventure Upgrading the tuners is a great idea on this... the bones are there for a good guitar.
Pretty cool job
Thanks a lot! Sorry for the delayed reply, trying to get back into youtube after an extended absence. I'll hopefully be making new videos again soon.
Szia Paul! I was surprised you had this guitar! Yes, that pup selector was a dead end idea.
Szia Attila! Definitely the only real weak point on the guitar in my opinion. Sorry for the crazy delayed reply, I'm hopefully coming back into youtube soon 🙂 Remélem, hogy jól vagy!
This is my favorite book too.
Thanks for commenting, sorry for replying so late. I'm returning to youtube after an extended absence. I'll hopefully be posting new videos soon and continuing this series as well.
Very interesting 🎸😎 I Subscribe to your channel 😎🎸
Thank you very much and apologies for only replying now. I'm returning to youtube after an extended absence. I hope to be posting new videos soon and will be continuing this series as well.
I had cut my finger and was unable to practice so looked for a book that would help me get better at guitar . Before reading I was trying to teach myself the busking classics that were boring me and were hard to learn like Wonder wall . After reading the book I started playing the open d stuff I’d learned and was improvising with it. I suddenly noticed that other guitarists were stopping and chatting and complementing my playing whilst playing on the street because I can’t make too much noise at home and I was enjoying my playing. Learning to play like others started to feel like a job, playing after reading the book kept my playing enjoyable like playing for fun. Thanks for sharing your thoughts it’s the first time I’ve typed it into UA-cam and I’m glad I did.
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed the video! Apologies for only replying now - I'm returning to youtube after an extended absence. I will hopefully be posting more videos again soon (and continuing this series as well). I'm so glad that you were able to find joy while playing - I really think that's the most important part of playing this wonderful instrument. Are you still playing on the street? If so, please consider posting some of your performances on youtube. I'll gladly take a look.
Changing strings is overrated
Still haven't changed them and I'm playing this guitar a ton. Sorry for the late reply, trying to catch up and get back into the swing of things.
Very nice!!!
Thanks a lot Paulo! I hope you are well... I'm just catching up on my youtube comments and whatnot... a bit ashamed at how long it's taken me 😛
@hearpalhere Hey!! You don't need to feel that way... I've been a bit busy too. Let's see if we can upload some new stuff by the end of the year... 😂
@@Paulo_Matos_ Cheers man, that's a great goal to strive for!
I received a massive shock when biasing a Peavey 5150 for a friend. Luckily the power tripped in the building 🤣 Always scares me when I bias my Marshall 6100.
Yikes, that is scary indeed, glad you were OK! Do you have an electrical background? What sources/information did you use to learn how to bias amps? I wasn't familiar with the 6100 but just looked up some videos/info. It seems like a really cool amp and I enjoyed watching Johan Segeborn's demo of it.
@@hearpalhere I bought a Weber Bias Rite many years ago so I could replace the stock 5881 for 6L6GC in the 6100. Don't really have much electrical knowledge even though I did electronics at school, built a keyboard for my exam that didn't work. All I know is that the amp has to be switched on with a load and I need access to the trim pot which is annoyingly located on the circuit board. Modern amps seem to be much better with bias sockets on the rear.
@@adiohead Absolutely, even for experienced technicians, I'm sure they'd prefer having access to bias controls without having to open up the chassis.
As I say multiple times in the video, please don't poke around in your electronic devices without the proper knowledge of how to do so safely! Learn about how to read schematics, use a multi-meter, discharge capacitors safely, etc. There are potentially lethal voltages that can be stored in the amplifier, if you are at all unsure of yourself - leave any repairs/maintenance to a professional.
Nice video, brother! I´ve been far from UA-cam, but I´m back. Thanks for sharing with us your work on the amp!
@@Paulo_Matos_ Thanks a lot and welcome back!

I am really happy this resonated with you Chris! Happy reading and training! Dōitashimashite
I bought this book years ago read the first feww chapters and put it down; was distructed by other books etc. I will be reading it again! I cannot believe I did noy finish the book when all my life I've been doing up to 4 different martial arts, with 2 of those predominantl;y Japanese arts wherein every aspect of training is Zen! Thanks Pal wor re-kindling my curiosity to read it agaim and this time finish it! Cheers! :)
Wow, that is fantastic - I'm really happy to hear it Chris! Happy reading 🙂 Which martial arts? Back in college, I trained Aikido for several years and then most recently (a few years ago), I trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I miss the BJJ, definitely want to get back to it sometime when schedule allows for it.
I've read Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance......I gotta get me a copy of this book !! I especially liked the section about noodling. I have spent countless hours in front of the tube noodling away on my guitar. Thanks for the great video Pal, cheers brother
Haha, that's awesome Warren - glad to hear that there are others who also like working those muscle memory trainings! Thanks for the Motorcycle Maintenance book mention - Fatt Philosopher also recommended that one in the previous video. I don't ride, so it may not be the exact book for me but I may have to check that out as well. Thanks for watching, I hope you are having a great week!
The Zen master your story refers to is named Ryokan. He is one of the most brilliant Zen minds from Edo period Japan. He is from Niigata, but he trained in a temple near my house called Entsuji I have gone on Zen retreats there in the past. The Zen stories about him are legendary, and his calligraphy artwork is astonishing beautiful. I highly recommend you read up about him.
That is so great, thank you very much for the information and details about him! Loving hearing your insight about this, thank you very much for sharing. I will definitely be reading up on him!
Very cool vibes and jazz licks enjoyed the view G
Thank you very much and welcome to the channel!

Fantastic, please do let me know what you think of it once you start reading it Dave!
Sounds like a great book Pal !! I look forward to hearing more about it. I haven't read a book in a while......this would be a good one to start again. Thanks and best wishes amigo :)
I will do my best to make it entertaining and enjoyable Warren! Thanks!
Interesting idea for a video series. Looking forward to it. I have read Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance and Zen and the art of Archery but not this one yet.
Thank you! I haven't read those books yet but if they are anything like this book, I'm sure they are great.
