We are a tiny recycling company in small town northern BC, Canada.
We hope to share our knowledge with you as we learn to look after our growing waste problem and try to keep as much as possible from entering our landfills. We will show you how to scrap items so that you can help put a little bit of cash back in your pocket while you steer the "garbage" into its proper place, where it can be reused, repurposed, or recycled.
We'll also try to have a bit of fun while we're doing it.

Scrapping out some ECMs from what I believe were older Ford Crown Victorias. Not much more to it than that. Some scrap aluminum, gold, little bit of copper, somewhere in there. I have a lot of wire harnesses, or wire looms, to scrap, and got to thinking that it might not be worth cleaning them up to get the insulated copper wire price. In this video, I weigh one harness clipped and unclipped to see if it's worth the time needed to get the better price per pound. Thanks, Steve. I used to work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day for sometimes 2 months at a time. It pretty much burned me out so now I try to limit it. I don't think I ever got ahead from it. I just spent more money on stupid stuff to reward myself. Young and dumb.
It's taken decades for our top engineers to ensure that the stuff we build is completely unfixable. Capitalism has really fucked us on this one. I'm still hopeful that we can put an end to nonsense before it's too late.
Yep. I have so many things given to me with hopeful eyes and an explanation of what's wrong with it. They seem to think that spending a few hours to maybe fix a $99 microwave that I can maybe sell for $30 is something I should do. As if I would even know where to start. The man wants us to buy his Chinese trinkets every year or two.

Have you thought about building a tin bailer? I knew a guy that built one out of, or on to, a semi flatbed trailer. The local scrap yard bought it from him and used it for many years. They bought it from him in the mid 1990s, and they were still using it in 2017, the last I had seen it. They might be using it still. It was great for anything tin/thin, like car body panels, fenders, hoods, refrigerators. etc.😎☕

I really thought it would have some good stuff in there.
Dont get me wrong, HH, but if you made $1.17, was it, for this little bit. Multiple that by 1000 ocer the course of the year. Now, was it worth it? I look at scrapping as found money. Pick the penny up, you see on the ground. Cash it in at the end of the year. Invest half of it and use the other half for your wants/needs. In other words, invest in your future now to make life a little easier later. Just my thought though.
For me, it's not worth it. Sure I'll have $1200, but it would take me over 200 hours to get it. Everyone is different though.

Oh very timely I just got a vacuum pump and some other pieces. All I need is to order a recovery tank and I can start sucking even more than I already do. Two questions. How many tanks do you have and where do you dispose of your refrigerant? Thanks!
@@Nas_Atlas I have 2 tanks but that was unnecessary. I use Sinclair Supply in Grande Prairie but they have a branch in Kelowna. You just pay a deposit and then a handling fee when you take your full tank in. You don't have to buy the tank.
250-783-8282 is my number. I can help you get set up. Then you can start getting paid for this.

@@Nas_Atlas I don't think Sinclair accepts other people's tanks but you may find another place that does. The whole tank has to be shipped to New Brunswick, so they just trade you a fresh one when you take in a full one. I wouldn't get a piercing valve unless you mean the vise grips or other locking pliers. I would also get a hold of refrigerant hunters because they will buy r12 and r22 from you and pay the shipping.
Also, you need the course to get your certification for draining them. You can't dispose of anything without it.
