Super excited about my hunk of railroad rail anvil!!
Переглядів 3022 місяці тому
My uncle picked up this hunk of a railroad tie at an auction. This little sucker probably weighs about 30 pounds!!! Could you imagine how much a whole railroad tie would weigh? anybody know? I have a whole new appreciation for people who built railroads back in the day!!!

How To Tie An Adjustable Sliding Knot Tutorial
Can you show how to do the plate pour? Mine just bunches up on top and doesn’t flow down ty!
Gorgeous and so touching!
Has anyone tried to fill in the gap when a shard has come off the stone, while keeping the stone in the setting?
Thanks for the great tutorial!
Hermosos trabajo, único, alargada de ser la primera en llegar
Definitely helpful. This is a much easier system than everything in one e-file that I can't open & see. I'm terrible at data entry, so the binder is 100% the way to go.
@@auroraasleep awesome! So glad you found it helpful!
You ever use a tubing cutter for plumbing?
Love the chain and plan on making one. Have to watch your tutorial from the beginning and take notes. What gauge wire is it? Thank you!
A great video, may I ask what is the board you have all your equipment on. Have you ever poured an ingot doing it the sandcast way?
Purple heart.
❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
real time because I want to see how long it takes!
I’m still confused as to how strong the bond is. Does the leaf gold and epoxy make for a strong bond? I’m trying to fix a cracked crystal bangle.
@@johnyang6551 the foil is so fine that it breaks up really easily and the epoxy sort of mixes up through out. Since this video, I’ve even just put a dab of epoxy on a plastic plate and mixed up the foil and epoxy together, then added it to the crack.
@@TracyGrossDesign does it look better or the same? I like the way yours looked compared to other videos. But how is the strength of the bond?
@@johnyang6551 it’s been 4 years and holding strong!
@@TracyGrossDesign hi Tracy, my crystal bangle has cracked, but hasn’t broken apart. Will the kintsugi solution seep through the crack?
@@johnyang6551 I’d have to see it. My initial thought is no, especially if the crack is fine and thin
Thank you for all your tips 🤩
I won't be investing in one of these.
Great explanation Tracy!
@@Susanarylander thank you Susan!
Add a little leather pad in the doming block to maintain the texture. Thanks for this video. Such great work!
I have a question. Due to my country policies I legally can not use big gas tanks nor oxygen, only thing I can use are those handheld torches (I cant use MAPP gas as well) only propane or butane cardrigdes. Is it possible to sand cast silver using butrane as a fuel (the flame temp. is 1800C or 3200F). I want to cast neclace pendants (1 piese at a time), that will weigh about 5-10grams (0,18-0.35Oz)
@@SzymonOracz-i3r I was never able to melt silver with a butane torch. You might be able to use a bigger propane torch, but I’ve never tried.
Beauty of art work,great job,love it🧡
These are so beautiful!. Do you teach courses?...Have a beautiful day.
@@Thecakecrusader15 thank you! And yes, I teach in my home studio, privates and up to groups of 3. I’m in Pennsylvania.

Question....As a man wanting to craft for women, how do i know how to size things? Example the bangles. I work in several mediums, mainly leather, but I want to do more jewelry. Thanks for your time.
@@ashleyanderson2859 I googled “standard bracelet lengths and got a chart for small med and large. It gave the circumference and the actual length of the metal to cut. It was a pretty easy find… look for images! Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@TracyGrossDesign Google, who knew!!!LoL. Thanks for your efforts and patience.
@@ashleyanderson2859 thank you! No problem!
Love that sound
This is not a tie. It’s a piece of rail.
@@JorgeCalderon-kf2ly thanks

I have a piece my dad actually shaped into an anvil. The are great to work with. Love the ringing sound they make.
@@ashleyanderson2859 that’s awesome! The ringing sound got to me after about 15 minutes of the lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I love that you show all the mishaps! It make beginners like me feel a whole lot better and we learn from them 🤗 I just have one question, once it is made, how do you attach it to the leather? Do you crimp? Thank you 🙏
@@SILUSANDLYN thank you! Sometimes I wonder about putting them in, but I do like to keep it real! Thanks for watching!
Very pretty and good job with soldering. My biggest weakness.
@@valeriejewell5136 you’ll get better!
I didn’t hear your oxygen concentrator running. It’s pretty quiet. 😊
Oh that’s good! I worry about annoying noise in my videos sometime, but glad to hear it wasn’t bad! Thank you for watching!
How nice!!
Thanks for showing us your technique, Tracey. I have the very same (and other) anvil attachments, and I found that if you file the edges off the end of the anvil to make a smooth nub, and then polish the tip, you will mitigate the damage on the bezel almost entirely. Love the pendants, and your happy delivery!
@@mattmcg3760 oh! Thanks for that! I actually haven’t even used my hammer hand piece in a long while, but maybe I’ll go back and do this! Thank you!
Lovely. Not an easy project but great result ❤❤❤
@@heddaacevedo Thanks for watching! You’d be surprised… you can do it!
It's beautiful!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Love the video and I can't wait to give it a try. Can you let me know what gauge silver you are using?
Thanks for watching! It’s 20 gauge sheet, but 22 will also work

@@ashleyanderson2859 no problem! Thank for watching!
I love love love this chain.
@@kristibbradshaw thank you!
I'm trying to figure out what's actually holding it together between the folded gold layers. Theres no epoxy there
The foil is so so very thin it breaks up when you press it together and the epoxy seeps through.
I love flowers, so this video made my day!
What would you recommend for the nest when using a little smith torch?
The same, I use a little smith too, it just doesn’t last as long and get burned up. But a spool of wire is pretty cheep.
great video! thanks for posting.🥰
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Beeeautiful!!
Thank you!
Loved this but I have a question. What do you do when you get a receipt that has materials and tools on it? Where do you put it in your book? Thank you for this extremely helpful video, I appreciate it so very much.
I love these flowers, thank you❤
Where do you buy those lovely stones?
But cheaper than medication and mental health care! Dogs and playing with jewelry. Copper wire 18g at lowes is cheap!!!
Thank you SO much for this tutorial! Turns out I have everything I need to make my own! ❤
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
What guage silver sheet do you use?
Hi! Usually 20 or 22 gauge, what ever I have on hand. 20 I feel works best and holds the hammered texture better
