Hey there, welcome to my little corner of the internet! I'm Keylin and on this channel we explore growth, business, and wellness as a lifestyle. A wee about me, since you're here, I'm an indie author, book cover designer, and I currently run my own business based out of Toronto! So if you want to join me on this crazy journey, hit that subscribe button!
this is why you have no friends in 2024 🤳 | the social media loneliness epidemic
The world is sliding deeper and deeper into a social media-induced loneliness epidemic and it is impacting our ability to make friends. In this video essay, I break down the societal reasons why it seems people have no friends, and how this loneliness epidemic-fuelled by social media-is impacting women and the younger generations like Gen Z (that is not to say the loneliness epidemic is not also impacting men, we're just focusing on women today). The unfortunate truth of the matter is though, the world is becoming a lonelier and lonelier place, which has people wondering why they don't have any friends. This lack of genuine friendship makes it even more important for us to come together and build bonds within our communities in real life, not on social media.

I hate doing chores by myself, especially when it comes to folding laundry, but sometimes chores really just need to get done! Having a body double, e.g. someone around while I am working or doing chores, has always helped me complete tasks (like laundry or dishes) that I typically find unpleasant. So join me for a laundry day fold with me video, where I'll be folding my laundry with you in rea...

the hard truth about following your dreams 💫
Please share with us your design process so that we can learn this type of cover design. You should make basic to advanced book cover tutorials!
Always be proud of yourself. Never regret anything you’ve done or said. The hard times, the good times, the smart times, and the dumb times all shaped who you are. Even the parts of your past you don’t like about yourself were important, because it gave you reason to change. Life is about change, growth, and experience. When looking at the past through the right lens, you can see the positive aspects of your current life it gave you. I often say the 6 months of hell, where my military coworkers attacked me via psychological warfare tactics was so horrible it caused me to attempt suicide 6 time, was also the best thing to happen. As that horrible experience is what got me on to this course in life that is so much better. I’m probably the happiest I’ve ever been (except in one department of my life, but that’s a different story). I learned about mental health, I learned how society is designed to make us negative thinking and not happy (depressed people spend more) and how we have to backstab for success. I learned how to deal with that, learned I was autistic, so learned how to deal with that, and learned to cope with depression and PTSD. So thanks to those anonymous coworkers sending me to a better place in life. (Also monetary increases in benefits from our government and increased healthcare benefits also helped). So just look for all the positive that came from those moments in your past.
You boxing now?
Yeah! I’ve been boxing for the past two and a half years-it’s an amazing sport!
@@KeylinVLOGS that’s awesome.
Welcome to the party, Sasha Grey .
This year I decided to start going out to take photos of various sports teams in my city (Guelph). This is because I find my camera helps me feel less anxious from my PTSD I developed in our military. Now the people I interact with aren’t exactly “friends”, it is a sort of social interaction that I wasn’t getting after becoming medically retired 8 years ago. And I found the majority of the athletes enjoy my photos, and same with the occasional music bands that play at a local pub on weekends.
That's amazing to hear about the photography! And super cool that you're sharing it with local community members, I am sure they really appreciate it! I can definitely related to interacting with people who aren't exactly "friends," however it is a crucial social interaction. Really glad to hear you're getting out there like that (and I am so glad your camera helps with the anxiety and PTSD)!
@@KeylinVLOGS thank you Keylin!
I thought it was because I’m autistic. lol 😂
What's the point, we're old and ugly and mortal.
It's fine stare at you pphone itll go away for sure. How could you be lonely? There are billions of dollars spent to target your mind with ads all day long. How could anyone lack attention now a days? lmfaooooo were fkd I stand in my driveway, 90% of peopple staring at their lap while driving permanently. Get a grip But yeah, our schools, churches, systems of commerce and business, were set up for your ass to be married and have a car and home payment and be totally dependent on your owners. So if you arent married, and stucck in financial situation, you don't naturally fit into commerce now a days.
If you want to know me, let me know.
14:30 does everyone deserve sex and relationships like everyone deserves friends?
See 14:50 for the pre-qualifications for friendships.
Oh gosh… folding… the worst thing about being an adult. I rarely ever fold my laundry as my autism just can’t handle that part. Especially after developing ptsd in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
It is 100% my least favourite chore! When I found people on youtube who do "fold with me" type videos I was THRILLED because now I just pop them on and it feels like I am doing a chore with a friend haha
@@KeylinVLOGS aww, that’s amazing how UA-cam has managed a way for you to cope through a chore you dislike.
I missed your vlogs!
Aww that makes me happy to hear, I'll try to be more consistent with posting them <3
Looking Amazing!
Thank you so much!!
@@KeylinVLOGS you’re welcome!
I’m next 37 never either 2025 will be my year
It is an odd transition but such a fun adventure!! Wishing you luck and a great time on yours :)
great idea as working as a freelancer sometimes I am not able to discuss problems and issues and get an opinion .
Your principal complaint might actually be a godsend, though. So what if readers buy surplus tokens? Time to spinoff a new series, and get some of those, right?
love this video! I studied Journalism and now I'm studying ProCom and I have my first summer job as a communications specialist. This calms my nerves and I now have a better understanding of what it might be like!
This is coming from a good place and as someone who's old enough to be your father, I hope you settle down and get married and have babies. Continue pushing your career but don't forget what makes you whole - and that is children!
Hey lady, you're only making like $50/month on your "All the King's Traitors" book and it was released over five years ago? Curious, why aren't you on book review sites? Jeez Louise, you've literally left thousands and thousands of dollars on the table! You should be making at least $1K/month. At least!
Gorgeous!
You know what would be interesting? You comment from behind with your voice. Explain the process behind it, what you were thinking when making the cover. I believe this way I can attract more people. And also show what the client wants (if that was a commission, of course) and talk from a more professional side for people who want to enter this field, I believe that your channel would gain more prominence for this.Speaking of which, I'm watching your video from Brazil and I know there is a lack of videos like this one teaching how to make beautiful covers. Thanks for the video❤
I know you should comment on lives, but unfortunately some like me don't watch lives because they don't have time, so it's good that you have an audience here too
Hi Keylin! You are simply wonderful. I love you and your time you spent educating us Canucks ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good tips on investing! First time coming across your channel.
I don't normally post comments on videos, but wanted to say how well this video is made. It's quick and I learned the basics to get started, and glad you kept the part where you mispronounced a word- felt very relatable! The TDEE talk through was great, and I would never think to scale caloric intake like you described. I was 120lbs for 20 years and gained 30lbs in one year :( This video was the perfect way to baseline and begin the journey! Thank you and wish me luck!
Thank you for not showing a $37 salad and chai latte from The Bistro around the corner. Doing yoga pretending you're happy not needing family and kids. Thank you for not showing a cope
What a beautiful cover. Your work is perfect, I hope one day I reach your level ❤
genuine question, can having a ba comm degree or any communication experiences make me a professional and well known someday? like those famous advertisers ive researched on the internet?
do u still study graphic design?
I'm not in school presently, but I do plan on completing the graphic design program (I have 5 years to complete it)! I had to take time off to work! Unfortunately the city is very expensive and I could no longer afford prioritizing school. Hoping to be back in a semester soon :)
Beautiful cover ❤
Thank you so much! Glad you like it :)

Hellow there, I’m new to the channel is there anyway I can get your email for assistance regarding being a communication officer please ?
Can you share some tutorials for making covers, it will be helpfull
Hi! Thank you so much for your comment :) I haven't done tutorials yet (it'd on my list!) but I do have some livestreams where I design the entire book cover live and talk through the whole process! Maybe that will be useful? Here is the link: ua-cam.com/users/livemipnnupD9V8 Have a great day!
I love this idea! It reminds me of productivity sprint live streams and how people will work together but also individually. Good luck with your endeavor, I hope this goes well for you!
Thanks so much <3! That is exactly where I got the inspiration from! We're hopefully starting a beta soon so we'll see if the idea actually is something people are interested in!
How did you create this book cover?
I use photoshop to create my book cover designs!
@@KeylinVLOGS tysm! The book cover looks gorgeous
I am very interested in this idea.
Thank you! I'm excited about it. I took a lot of inspiration from the writing community and how collaborative it is!
Thanks for watching everyone! I just figured I would drop the business description here too! COTEAM is an online and in-person coworking space for independent workers (entrepreneurs, freelancers, consultants, designers, etc.) looking to engage with their coworking peers in a team-like manner. COTEAM goes beyond traditional coworking-which is typically just renting a space-by mimicking the team-like atmosphere one would find in a large business. COTEAM members will be encouraged to participate in COTEAM-hosted team accountability meetings, business workshops, and community-focused networking events to grow their knowledge base and their independent businesses. Drop a comment if you'd like to join the FREE virtual beta!
This was so satisfying to watch (also makes it look way easier than it is). Great job!
Aww thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it :)
Hi what app did u used to make book cover? Yours is so amazing! ❤
Thank you so much! I use photoshop :D
your voiceover is very comforting. like a friend catching up on a call but with videosss.
Aww that's so sweet! Definitely makes me want to try more voiceovers in the future! Thank you so much for watching :D
Are you still on this program or have you dropped out?
I withdrew to work temporarily but we have 5 years to complete it I believe! I plan to be back in an upcoming semester :)
What app do u use?
Photoshop mostly! But I use a lot of the adobe creative suite :)
I really love your cover design timelapse videos. Your covers are stunning!
I watched this video before my first day of being a Comms Officer and had NO idea what you meant by so much of this 🤣 just watched it again and it’s all clear now, we have a very similar role!
hahah yeah I look back on this video and am like "damn, there is a lot in there"! Congrats on your comms role! Hope you're enjoying it, I loved mine :)
Thanking you 😊
185g, that is a massive amount of protein even to me as a guy lol, keep going on the daily protein diet!
Haha yeah it is a massive amount! I normally only get around 130-140, so this is definitely a little unusual for me… but not complaining!
Great advices. Keep posting! 😊
Thank you, and thanks for watching! Will do!
love the yellow and turquoise back drop / living room
Aww thank you so much!! They’re definitely my current favourite colours
Very important video, not least since I have made many, many foolish mistakes in my own journey (which is nowa hybrid between employment and self-employment for the interim period). Great job!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting <3 mistakes are inevitable, and it sucks when they happen, but its all part of the process! Very cool you're hybrid, how is that going?
@@KeylinVLOGS Very well, as it means that I can buy time for pursuing my self-employment niches, without worrying about making good money at the outset.
That's awesome! Congratulations!
Really great advice, Keylin! Cheers! Greetings from the EU!
Thank you so much Harry! Appreciate you for watching and commenting :D
@@KeylinVLOGS Have a wonderful day!
Thanks so much, you too!
@@KeylinVLOGS Thank you so much! Cheers!
Yay, thanks for this video. I initially found your channel by your day in the comms specialist vlog, and after that, it was "boom- I'm self- employed". I always was curious as to how. I'm a comms worker and also want to transition to self-employment. I guess I'm curious the most about how did you initially pick the niche? And what was it (aside from book covers)? You mentioned consulting too. What area was your consulting in? Was it Corp comms or you pick another niche ? Super curious about all of it. Pls share if you can. And looking forward to new videos ❤ way to go, Keylin!🎉
Thank you so much for your support!! I actually fell into my self-employment niches by accident! I’ll definitely make a video on it. But the big thing was saying yes to opportunities! I consult in an area outside of corporate comms (I was working in a totally different field prior, and that’s where I still consult). But there is soooo much opportunity to consult in comms! Thanks so much for your support ❤
