Yeah they do! Fiverr does too (and they also take 20% of your tips). It sucks but I'm currently using UpWork to build my Graphic Design portfolio outside of book covers, so it is really helping me establish those elements and expand. It sucks in some ways, but helps in others! I'll eventually transition off the platform too :)
Hahaha right? Like, I started doing it a few weeks ago to build my Graphic Design portfolio and DAMN the 20% is roughhhhh and then they take the GST/HST because I'm Canadian. It reminds me why I left Fiverr (which I am now actually back on too lol).
This was an amazing video, wow 😮 thank you so much for all the work you put into it! $200 is in-cre-di-ble, I wish I made that much on a daily basis! Do you mind if I make some questions? 👁👄👁 I'm also a freelancer (freelance translator since 2019) and a wannabe writer, and this year (about last month or so) I decided to dedicate myself entirely to books, that being my own books and other's books. Literary translation was always one of my biggest dreams and I'm super excited to make it my full-time job. but I haven't been having too much luck 😣 I do have an Upwork and a Fiverr account, but on Upwork I'm mostly hired for virtual assistance work (which I've also been doing since 2019 and love it, it's super fun, I just want to try out new things right now), and on Fiverr my account is new so I don't have any clients 😂😂 So my question is (gosh, sorry it took me so long to get to this): how did you set up yourself with so many writers? Did you just wait for them to reach out to you on Upwork and Fiverr, or is there any group you joined and advertised your work to get started, etc. If this is something you don't mind sharing, of course (I promise I'm not a book cover designer trying to steal work from you, I'm really just a translator 😂). Anyways, thank you so much for the amazing video, your doggo is the cutest, and have a good day!
$200 a day is super ambitious, best of luck Keylin! Your cover looks great 👌🏻
Thank you 😊! And yeah, it's definitely a stretch but keeps me motivated for sure!
Gosh that cover is pretty. I wish I had a story it would be suitable for.
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!
Unwork takes 20%? That's a looooooot!

Lol watching this reminds me why I hate doing the math after working with clients on Upwork
