The thing about this song is it kind of reminds me of the dragnet theme, and I'm sure that's intentional. I kind of think that it's supposed to be a riff on that making fun of the fact that sheriff Justice is no Joe Friday.

I was planning a trip to the US with him next year, but God had a different idea. Now, my dear uncle cruises the highways in heaven, with Smokey and the Bandit with no sunset to finish the story.
