Yeeeees! Finally! An amazing demo from the man himself!!
I’ve never heard tone like this before. This is magic!!
Really impressed with that, especially with the Tele! 👍🏻
Did you get one ,Andy? Looking forward to your demo on this !!!
@@jerryyeaaah15 They’re all spoken for as far as I know!
@@AndyDemos ah yeah they sold out like instantly ...buuut do get one at least for the demo man!😄The world is waiting!😈😈😈
Waiting for the MKI version
One of the best pedal review that I´ve ever seen!! Congratulations Ant and Macari´s team!!! Cheear..🤟🏼🔥🎸
Congratulations! Sounds fantastic! Looking forward to get mine... 😎
Can't wait to get mine from you guys, hope to get the mail soon!
I have one on the way. Very grateful to have got in line with the folks from Sweetwater.
Thank you to Sola Sound and Boss for working together on this marvelous new Tone Bender release and for choosing such an amazing original MKII to base the new pedals on. It sounds incredible.
LONG LIVE SOLA SOUND AND BOSS!
Sounds great Antony, wish i could actually buy one mate
Great to see you so genuinely excited Ant, super nice to watch! Can't wait to receive mine... Oh and I really enjoy my Yellow Hybrid! Greetings from the Netherlands :)
Proud moment. Congratulations!
Had the oportunity to chat with Anthony at his shop once, nicest guy on earth, and really generous and eager of sharing his fuzz and guitar wisdom
Great demo of this pedal. There isn't many other demos of this pedal out there beside yours that I've seen.
In my next life, i’m coming back as a clipping diode.
Go Ant, sounds outstanding! And yes, Pretty Things...RIP Phil May 🎗
He truly is behind this collaboration. It sounds so friggin GOOD.
Why I didn’t know about this in pre launch? Just now finding out about it. Dig it. Thanks for the video
I can’t wait to get mine!
Enjoyed this!
The beards great. Anthony this is the best demo of the MKii I have heard. I hope i can get one of the Boss versions.
thank you sir - the pedal took longer to develop than the beard to be honest
"Should we stack 'em?" 🤘 So when is the TB-2W-2X coming? Very nice, gotta have one
Cant wait for mine!!!!
Mine arrives today. This is probably my all-time favourite guitar sound, period. This collaboration is truly incredible.
how is it ? do you like it ? thanks
@@Mujcanal it's great! My only regret is only getting one. I should've gotten two. As for naysayers. Good luck making one of these yourselves. It's not as easy as you might think.
Used to love going into Macaris on a lunch hour and having a natter with Ant... What you see here is what ya get!!
I understand the video is about the tonebenders, but that tele looks and sounds so good on its own. Also very impressed with the boss
Post of the Year? Ant ... sounds fantastic.
Ah man you showed me one of these a few days ago in the shop. I didn't quite realise the significance of this beauty! Small world haha
I Think this is the 10th time I see this vid... looking forward to using it on Plinth's album!
What a great video
I paid more attention to 7v; i think it is right as it should; it is not choked/locked at all; it is just right; please urge Boss to make it into production line! It would be awesome!!!
I bought my first sola sound pedal from macaris like 19 years ago. Ordered over the phone from them and they shipped it to phoenix az usa for me
Talking Fuzzes at the end made my day ! 😂. thanks
"...I put the beard on today, " Sounds good to me. I just built a Mk-2 Tonebender from a DIY board and some ancient Aperex transistors from Small Bear Electronics. I like it! Very similar to the one you just jammed! Not quite the gain though I think. Sounds classic fuzzy like your beard.
I have both, they are great.
I thought it was good but not this good wooow... AMAZING well done Boss you did it again
Fantastic entertainment. I must buy a colorsound pedal!
How bad is it, if i prefer the Boss to the vintage one (though i also like to sniff on old transistors and paxolin boards)? Great of you to demo the reference unit and that you are so behind the product. The product got my interest.
Fuzz pedals are so lively! alive with attitude and character! When I hear a guitar player say ‘what’s the point of fuzz’ I always want to tell them to go take up sewing instead :)some of the best tones ever comes from a fuzz! Those sounds in the 60s!!! Oh yeah!!
You just sent me my SCB blue meanie a couple weeks ago, now I need one of these if I can find one......
Boss needs to make another run.
POTD is back!
That Les Paul is killer!
I really like the pedal too.
For the record, I was referring to that first Les Paul he opened up with.
@@timsullivan1940 i love that guitar :)
@@macaris_official that’s a rare gem, I’ve only seen one or two on the internet, none in person. Never seen a single P-90 version before. Great taste, and it’s great to see someone play that instrument and not just treat it like a museum piece.
the way you put the guitar down with the back of the neck on the edge of the coffee table though 🤦♂️
I just got mine :D
This sounds awesome
I wander what transistors they used
Why is there an ad for this when it sold out in preorders?
Beard looks fantastic.
at LAST !!!! This was the whole point of making the video ! Thank You
The original one as "J.P" written on it, hum ❤️
well spotted
hi normal to see any volume drop when the pedal is activated?
Why are the input/output jacks reversed on some fuzzes eg. Coloursound Powerboost?
I love Sola Sound and you’re the best Ant .
But
What year Gibson and what model is .... sounds epic
looks like a pre 63 SG(les paul)junior and a Custom Shop Les paul reissue 😂
Thank You - we aim to please :) . Its my '61 LP/SG Junior - such a great guitar - my Dad gave it to me when i was 16 ! He bought it from LuLu and the Luvvers for £ 80 . It had a big hole through the body and a Burns pick up at the neck !!! Never selling it . It actually feautures in the Haynes SG Manual - was really pleased when that came out .
I have the Sola MKII I got in 2012, not the same at all. Close and great PR but not the same.
With these fuzzes you need to turn the gain (attack) on full...then roll back as needed for the clean-up...if you don't turn the gain way up you loose all the presence in the fuzz....this is also true of fuzz faces especially germanium ones....Silicon..Gain can be backed off slightly from "full" as silicon output can be a bit much and those typically have more "treble/brittle" to them anyway.
Did they quit making the Boss Tone Bender?
Wowowowow
Is it just me or does the Dam built Mkii say JP on the back? if so why? (Jimmy Page as a nickname for the Mkii? a Tonebender with similar specs to his?)
no way! It defiantly stands for Jazz Pedal ;))))
Do a 2nd run in gold hammer tone!🙏
This really upsets me as the music stores I've tried getting one of these have screwed me around and never let me know when they were coming sucks thanks to these bloody scalpers!! would've loved to use this amazing pedal on my rig that I'm currently building.
Agree, it’s not fair.
9:36 says it all. HAhaha amazing.
It sounds so much better then the real thing !
wow - i've never neem compared to a 70s funk band before - thanks :) . I must say - i think The Real Thing probably have the edge .
I don’t think it’s quite at that level.
The Sola sound has that mojo in it ! sound in it more raw and agressive.
Boss made a descent copy no doubt! Cheers!
You're really making me wish I had $750 lying around for one of these. Haha
Wish they were more commonly available
is it already in stores ???!!! i just cant find it anywhere over the internet !!!
GREAT Sounding !!!!!
Greetings from Portugal
Stay Safe & Keep Rockin
there was 3000 made.. they have already been presold before they come out
@@jnovak7892 damn!!!! not fair ... grrrr !!!! ;)
they should stop advertising it !!!!!
cause its painful to see and cant touch it !!!!
grrr... thanks for the info though ... ;)
I hear the Ronnie Wood Faces tone.
How come you didn't put it through a mandolin?
you're right - we need to re-shoot this !
@@macaris_official funny pome humor
So there you are Mr Mc
Good to see you, me old son
The wine les paul al A

ha ! Hi Paul - yup still rockin' along trust all is good with you . come and say hi if you're ever in Haywards heath - Ant
I have that same guitar 61'......... its a beeeeeeeaaaast
0:04 as if he didn't know he was being filmed 😆
it was a complete surprise - they had snuck the cameras etc in during the morning and then suddenly - WHAM !!!
Which amp is this?
my late 60s Marshall PA20 through a Fender 4x12
PLEASE DO CHEAPER 1
Yay \o/
The transistors look to be Russian. Nothing wrong with that, but there are plenty of them out there. I’m not seeing any hard to get parts.
Nah, they're pretty standard TO-5 transistors, not Russians. There's better shots in the other videos. They're also marked CEN, as in Central Semiconductor, which is a USA distributor. Doesn't guarantee they're USA made, but they probably are.
What do you mean by "Preset"? you mean "bias adjustment trim pot"?
exactly - but we had limited time
@@macaris_official My D*A*M OC75 TB2 has one, too. So.. Mine must be an inferior one.. :(
Anyway, I have always wondered where the default position of the trim pod was when David tested it..
@@kkkrich nah it's not inferior. It's just not 110% vintage accurate, as far as having a stock looking circuit. Often times the trimmers are just used to bias to a vintage units voltage, or (wrongly, in a MK2) to 4.5V which is half of 9v.
A pedal with trimmers, modern low tolerance resistors, and non-OC series transistors can sound as good or better than even an original vintage unit. Just the nature of germanium fuzzes.
How does this sound good?
Amazingly, you can't even get the Boss pedal on the 2ndary market. I would have expected by now that you'd see all the scalpers out there making a small fortune reselling them, but none at all. Heck you can even buy a Klon if you have enough money. I'll save my $$$ and just fly to London and get the original, at least that would come with a nice trip and a story to tell people. I understand this video's intent, but why do others even bother with a review of the Boss TB-2W when there is no chance at all of ever getting it. I'll just keep playing my JHS and Keeley Bender pedals.
They haven't shipped yet
Its such a shame that many of these are just sitting in a box in a cupboard bought up by scalpers who are never gonna use the things except to make a hefty profit on them, they do sound pretty good.
EARGASM
Not sure......................
Ruling shirt.
Good thing boss managed to completely flub the marketing/announcement in North America.
Ive played mk2 and fuzz faces as my 2 main tones for 20 years now. This isnt the creamy sustain i get from my mk2 pedals. I will say i have heard tonebender clones that have the buzz like sound of this. But its not the big creamy bold fuzz that im used to. But tone is just an opinion so i cant say its bad its jyst not a mk2 i would want to own
He's playing at conversation level in a rectangular wooden room with no people in it. It sounds here like it might as well be just about any Zvex going through any Fender-derivative at under 1/4 output through bog-standard V30s.
...and it's particularly absurd that most comments are acting like it's the greatest pedal demo they've ever seen 🙃😑🤨
The boss get cleaned better, the Sola has too much gate effect when cleaned.
$1000 used for this Boss pedal on reverb lol cryyy
Lol "buy em both" yeah.
Hilareous
I don't know why I'm watching this. I'll never be able to get one.
I'm so gutted I. missed out onthe Boss Waza, I pray to the Gods of Trump they make another batch!
Sola Sound is a much better pedal
Meaty
Guys were predicting they'd be resold on Reverb for insane amounts and they were right. It's stupid, though I don't want to rain on anyone's parade - they are totally not for me. I think Boss pedals are kind of humdrum and boring. Function wise - good enough - but form wise - uninspiring and modern boredom squared. Jagoffs paying $2000 US for them used - fools.
Too bad I can't buy this sold out thing
we really had no idea it would sell like it did . . .lobby your MP for another batch . . .we'd love to do it
@@macaris_official but I think by making just THE batch of it makes this pedal so much more special tho
@@jerryyeaaah15 i doubt if lobbying MPs would work anyway tbh
:)
@@macaris_official 😂 yeah I would just wait for an Sola-Dam mkii😈(which I am now 😂)
It wasn’t that hard to track down and buy when it released. No one I know who wanted one didn’t get one. You just got to pay attention and be on it when they release.
I hope they keep the run limited to as is. It’s very a special limited release.
Sound like ass. LOL
Bigger box sounds way more better, sorry Boss you are too hifi this days
I'm sorry to ruin the fun for you guys, if you haven't heard of Neural Amp Modeler, better sharpen up. I just downloaded the Boss TB, I already have the MK2, sounds better than the hardware. Free.
Not even worth $100
From growing up when every cheap amp and pedal sounded like this, I have to say is the worst sound in the world to me!
hmmm interesting - when did you grow up out of interest ? when was this time and place where every cheap amp and pedal sounded like a '61 SG through Jimmy Page's Tone Bender played through a vintage Marshall head and a 4x12 ? maybe you're referring to the speaker in your phone ? or is it my playing ??? - I'd understand that :) Ant
