One of my favorite fountain pens and yes it takes a little while for the ink to get though the feed then to the nib but worth the wait!

Nice pen? Yes, nice color in fine laquered body. But not worth the price. Unlike the old Duponts of 20-30 years ago, where form followed function and not the other way round, and nib performance was a primary concern of the brand. In today's model we have: - Grip section from chromed shiny metal that tappers down quite a lot. That guarantees it will get slippery after a short while. - Nib performance poor. From the pictures, this is a gusher, on par with modern chinese models. They no longer bother to tune it like they did in the past. Ok, they ensure to make the metal plate of the nib extremely thin so they can save a few miligrams of gold. (Like most top pen-makers do nowadays. They call it 'soft nibs'. What they really mean is big price, thin gold). - The band in the body ridiculously broad. Houses an overstated brand label floating around. Looks like an unpaid comercial in the hand of the customer. Or maybe they are afraid modern users cannot figure out the maker's name otherwise? All in all, a sad evolution of such a great brand and pen maker.

Would you believe that I finally decided on the ST DuPont Line D Guilloché in the 14K nib and amber lacquer? To be honest, it was the first Line D that grabbed my attention, and it crosses my mind frequently enough to know (as Mick Jagger says) You will be mine, You will be mine, all mine…coming to my emotional rescue. 🛟 On a serious note you were on my mind, and I wanted to check in to make sure everything is okay. I have to say that I simply do not like the shape of the Scribo pen, nor the "feel the writing" motto in English on the ring of an Italian pen. (It's a pretty lame motto in any language on any pen!). Since this video first appeared, Omas has made a reappearance, though it is controversial. The company is still based in Bologna. I bought two of their recent Ogivas and superficially they are close to the original Ogiva, maybe even weightier and sturdier. BUT! The nibs, while good and smooth, are no-where near the sublime sensation of the original Omas nib. I tested my original Ogiva (Museum of Modern Art Edition) side by side to the new remakes, and it wins in all categories by a mile. To be fair, I don't know of a nib that can compete with it, not even my beloved Montblanc 149 or the Pilot Custom 823. What magic did the original Omas craftspeople work? Truly, it is almost mystical.

I just watched Doodlebud’s review of this pen. His vid was made 1 yr ago and he also had nib issues.

those spring inside is to keep the cartridge in place because... who knows, it might loosen and sprinkles ink all over your pocket/bag/pouch.

Platinum nibs tend to run a bit dry. i had a platinum C (coarse, also called BB) ground into a great Architect by Matthew Chen. The Nakaya I have was ordered directly from Nakaya, and I specified that it be tunes a bit wet. It was and if one of my best writers.

I have 3 of these in Line Ds and can surely say this is my best writer amongst many premium brands...the Blue Saphhire one is what I got. The other two are Golden Hour and the LE Da Vinci. By the way, huge congratulations on pronouncing Dupont correctly with the T silent. Truly French way of saying it

Just checked this out and you’ve convinced me to buy one! I haven’t got an eye dropper and I think this will be the perfect first one! (and I’m just getting back into fountain pens after decades, we still use them for school here in the uk) Just a heads up Tomoe is a name, not just of a river, but used for women in Japan. It’s pronounced Tom-oh-eh (last syllable as in hey) Thanks again, I’m going to have to check out your other reviews!

I found your channel today and I freaking love you! You are so much fun! I am binge watching your videos while I swatch my inks (ink-cyclopedia) I am sorry for your loss and so love that you put you first and took that opportunity to spend time with your dad.

I have a platinum C nib (that's what they call broader than broad) -- Its really a huge amount of tipping. Platinum nibs/pens are often a bit dry (though not always). I love by C nib but its so broad that it doesn't work for many things.

opus 88 makes beautiful pens but i just cannot get used to 4 turns to unscrew the cap. utter madness.

The slip cap is going to take some getting used to for sure.

I also had problems with that Leonardo and hated using it. And then before sending it off to Kirk I flossed the time and tightened the nib and did a bit of buffing and now it writes beautifully. I Enjoy your content always appreciate your humor and intelligence.

Too bad about the BB Nakaya nib. That, and the even bigger Cosu are my favorite Platinum/Nakata nibs. If dry writing Id look at the ink flow and make adjustments to make it juicier.

Love this palette! Fall has arrived. Next week, our temps are definitely going to be cooler next week! Dude I'm experiencing the opposite with my Leonardo Fioritura Viola! Mine's scratchy and hard starts. Definitely needs to be tuned & smoothed - at a bare minimum. Sadly, I always seem to run into SOMETHING with Leonardos. They're beautiful & I love them but I only have one Leonardo in my collection that's been perfection from day 1 and that's the Arabian Nights I purchased from Pen Venture. Currently, I have 4 Leonardos that I need to put in Kirk's capable hands. 😂
