Love your one-pagers and gasped when I heard you say that you have a great way to get ink off of your hands. I had an Emerald of Chivor incident this afternoon 😖
Gorgeous! 💗 Love it and just got it. So happy you reviewed it. And yes, I notice way more shading properties when I write in print over cursive. Entertaining as usual! 😂 Thanks so much! PS - Yes on a lettering tutorial!
@@ferociousnprettypens I will! Can't wait. Up in Breck for the next week so it'll arrive before I get back down. Damn! I should've had it shipped here! 🤦🏻♀️
When there is an ei or ie combination in German, the second vowel says its name so ei=I (that's a capital i) and ie=E. :) *this information comes from my mother. Her father immigrated from Germany when he was a young boy
Why the shading is much more pronounced with printing: You drag the ink over the paper with your nib. When you lift the nib from the paper the dragged ink pools there. With the connected letter in cursive there is less nib lifting and therfore less shading. It's a nice ink color. I like cool pinks more than warm pinks. But I wish Pelikan would have smaller bottles of the Edelstein inks. 50 ml is just too much for me. I'll rather go for a sample. Your video was the first I found for this ink, so thank you for showing it.
Which explains why there’s more shading when I don’t slant my cursive; I lift my hand more. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. That’s a great way to look at samples vs bottles. I have way too many bottles at this point 😲
Bit late to the game, but I'm happy to see you making videos again! Love your fun but laid-back vibe. :) Great swatches/writing samples, I appreciate the paper comparisons. I've been very curious about this ink but was unsure if it would be too light to be legible. It looks great here, though.
I got confused on this one because the description says: Let's taco 'bout Pelikan's first shimmer ink. Which I love! Sadly no shimmer but still a good video :)
I just bought it and I am waiting for it to be delivered. After seeing your video I can’t wait to get it. On your col-o-ring swatch how did you do the ink splat that you get that nice splat. Do you have a video on splatters?
Hi 👋! So I don’t have a video in the splatters, but it’s done with a strawberry pipette from 1-2 feet above the swatch card. I usually put some scratch paper under because I sometimes miss the swatch card. 😳😂
Rose Quartz would look nice with your La Dotta Campanula. Also, thank you for turning me onto the Ninfea. It’s brilliant, and I can’t stop thinking about the Campanula. Sound familiar? ❤
I just received Rose Quartz, and it definitely needs a wet nib; not necessarily a broad nib: I get a legible, saturated-is line out of my Scribo EF 18k and my F 823 Pilot 14k nib. 💕 I wish it were a bit more saturated, though. With the old TR plain white 52gsm, it darkens slightly as it dries. I might take 2 ml and try to darken it with a purple-leaning grey, or leave 2ml in a sample vial without the cap to let it evaporate a bit to see what results I'll get. ETA: just noticed that "Extra Soft Ink" is written on the back of the box. ...Yup.
I didn't even notice the "Extra Soft Ink" - - that's so interesting. And that's a great idea to leave a sample of it uncapped to see what it does. Do you find that inks are less lubricated when you do that? I've only done that with Vinta Inks Maskara, and have mainly used it as an art ink.
@@ferociousnprettypens It really depends on the ink composition. Some yes, some no. For example, a few of my standard Herbin inks feel more lubricated once some water has evaporated from them, while my Platinum Pigment ink feels more gritty.
Thanks for so much detail and work - it's really helpful in deciding whether or not to buy an ink. This one is a pass for me, but that's because of visual issues that make lighter inks harder to see. I would have gone for it if it were a bit deeper and maybe had a hint a gray undertone. I tend to like colors on the granger side. I can see how this would be a lovely shade for art.
I almost did a search for reviews of this ink just yesterday. What a happy surprise to see your video this morning! I might have to invest in this color. 💗 I've heard, I forget where, that hand sanitizer is good for removing ink because of its alcohol content. Have you tried that? Is there any truth to it? Yes! Brush lettering!
It's such a funky color to be called Rose Quartz, but I think it's very pretty. I wanted to wait until the pen came out, but I have zero self-control. So you all get a review. Win-win. 😂 I've tried hand sanitizer and it get some of it out, but not all of it, especially my cuticles. It looks like I had an accident and caught my finger(s) in something. Hah.
@@ferociousnprettypens thanks for the hand sanitizer info! I wasn't sure what to expect with this ink. "Rose quartz" sounds like a very light color but this seems readable while still being a light pink. I'm glad you didn't wait for the pen...of course, I want to see it too!
Unfortunately, the pen of the year isn’t pink, but blue. I don’t get it. Seems like in prior years the pen and ink co-ordinated. But not quite this year.
That pastel blue isn’t the pen of the year. They released a green one last year similar to the blue one. The ink always coordinates with the pen…so unless someone just got fired at Pelikan, I’m really really hoping you’re wrong (even though you’re absolutely fantastic and probably right about everything else. 😅🤗)
Edelstein is pronounced „aydelstein“ (ay like in hay). It sure is a gorgeous ink. I‘m into all the dirty pinks at the moment and have a bunch of samples waiting to be tried. Thanks for the swatching! Can’t wait for the next „Artsy Fartsy“ episode ❤.
Queen, thank you so much for correcting me. I am still living down Mon(t)Blan(c). But only in my head. hahaha 😅😂 Artsy Fartsy time will be the next episode. I'm leaving this one up to you, would you rather have a step-by-step in Mandalas, flowers with sheening inks, or clouds/wave designs? No pressure, because they're all on the docket.
I love the matching pink makeup and ink...

Super video! I love the colour but it’s coming up more orchid than rose quartz to me 💖

Yea, I was surprised how it appeared on TR and Cosmo. I can see myself putting this in wetter pens for legibility. ❤️

is this old or new TR paper?
Old. I haven't come across the new just yet. Do you know if vendors mark if it's old or new?
So you just dip the nibs? And you look beautiful by the way.
Thank you. ☺️ I don’t dip the nibs, I swap them since it’s a Lamy.

It is so weird how it looks green in the bottle!
Right?!? I remember thinking that when I first unboxed it at delivery. It must be a specific neon pigment in there or something.
