Hello, We can do a purple tint with a blue mirror. For mirrors we use Blue, Silver, and Gold, and we stick to those three because we can do them in house and finish them more quickly. They both run on the same XTRActive technology, but I have observed that the XTRActive Gen 2 Non-Polarized appear to get darker than the polarized version. I don't know how much this really matters when you consider that the polarized version is better at filtering disabling glare. All photochromic lenses are sensitive to heat. XTRActive lenses are UV light and somewhat visible light activated.

Interesting. I haven't noticed that about any of my Gen 8's. The XTRActive is my favorite too! I wish they had all the colors in XTRActive.

Yes, warmer weather is a challenge for all photochromic lenses. XTRActive New Gen is still the best option in warmer weather.

Thank you! I agree with you that the need to have a good set of polarized lenses for driving is a must. Transitions lenses are the best technology we have now for a single lens solution to all situations, but as you said some tools are better at some things. For driving, I do like my Drivewear lenses among other polarized lenses that I have for myself.

That sounds about right for a high quality frame such as a Face A Face paired with high quality lenses. Face A Face uses premium quality acetate materials that look better and last longer. With Face A Face you are paying for the quality of craftsmanship more so than the name.

This is the Kirk sun by Etnia.

It is a 30% density, but even still that is just dark enough to show up a little. The mirror hides the blue color, but you can see that the lens is slightly darker in the top than in the bottom before it is activated with the UV light.

These hinges are not flexible, and in fact nothing about this frame is flexible. There is a small amount of adjustment that can be done, but it may not be a good choice for those who need a larger size.

It all depends on UV intensity, and a little on temperature. Even with clouds you still have some UV. On cooler cloudy days they can still get pretty dark, but on warmer cloudier days they may not get as dark.

Swap how? Do you need a new prescription lens made for your Aero? We can help with that. What kind of lenses do you need?

Your existing lenses have scratch coatings and probably anti-reflective coatings. Lenses that are to be tinted have to be treated first so that the hot dye does not damage them in the tinting process. Once anti-reflective coatings have been added then tinting is not possible. Tinting older lenses either won't work at best or will damage them at worst.

We fit them on men and women. If they feel loose around your ears then that sounds like you need another adjustment. If they are adjusted properly then they should not slip on most people unless they are not the right size frame for you. Sometimes adding custom adjustable nose pads will help the slipping. This is something that we offer.

Thank you! They’re very loose over my ears, seem way too large for my small head but I was assured they’d fit fine after adjustment. I’ll go back for another adjustment.

To my knowledge they only use that one style of snap on nose pad that is not a standard attachment.

There has recently been a new realise of xtractive so I don't think there are any new versions coming soon. The reaction times to fade back are harder to improve with xtractive as the dies need to be more sluggish so that the lower amount of energy in visible light is able to enact a visible change.

Hello Leonardo! I love XTRActive for all things that require spending a lot of time outdoors because they just work better in the sun, especially in warmer weather. I am not aware of a new Gen XTRActive coming soon, but it does feel like we are due for something. I think it's been about four years since XTRActive Gen 2 was released, but it may be a while yet. I think it took about ten years or more to go from Gen 1 to Gen 2.

It's about a 35% blue to about a 25% yellow.

Transitions brand photochromics are available on many other brands outside of Essilor. Essilor only uses flash mirrors that I am aware of, but it would be possible to put solid mirrors on them. I do not recommend that though for reasons mentioned in this video. Zeiss Photofusion flash mirrors are similar to these in this video.

They are what some call virtually clear. You can see a very subtle color on white paper, but most will to see this color when you are wearing the glasses. When combined with a premium anti-reflective coating they will not appear to be tinted while you are wearing them indoors.

It's hard to say without being able to see yours. Any Ruby that I have made looks exactly like the one in this video. Brown and Amber look more well, Brown and Amber. If you were my customer I would hold your lenses next to my Ruby sample lens, and compare the two to see if yours color matches. I hope that helps.

You might ask the place you bought them from if they can provide a Transitions certificate of authenticity for your lenses.

XTRActive only come in Grey, Brown, and Graphite Green.
