Chainsaw Carving a "Barn Owl weathering a storm"
Переглядів 4914 місяці тому
This design was inspired by a photo I saw of a Barn Owl perched on a fence post in a snow storm. Hunkered down with it's feathers fluffed up facing into the wind. It captured my imagination and reminded me that we all have to endure what life throws at us, good or bad. Chainsaw Carving Step-by-Step. Boxing hares
Переглядів 1,4 тис.5 місяців тому
Spring is definitely in the air here in Norfolk UK at the moment. The Brown Hares are busy sorting out their territories and pairing up for the mating season. They are easy to spot in the fields in early spring as the crops haven't grown up yet. This pair of boxing hares have been carved from a lump of English Oak. It took me quite a while to make them but it was a fun challenge. I looked close...

Chainsaw Carving a Short Eared Owl landing on a rock
Переглядів 4,1 тис.6 місяців тому
This video gives a detailed look at how I created a Short-Eared Owl sculpture. The brief was to make it look like it was landing with its wings up. I've taken some artistic licence with things like the width of the wings to give strength to the finished sculpture. I use a standard Husqvarna 550 XP petrol saw to rough out the basic form. Then the Husqvarna 535i XP electric saws running 1/4 inch ...
Chainsaw Carving a Sleeping Tawny Owl - step by step

Relax and unwind as you watch a dozing tawny owl emerge from a lump of cypress wood. I often hear these owls calling at night around my home. I can imagine them enjoying the last rays of late summer sunshine as they get ready for the nights activities. These owls can be purchased from my website shop: maytree.me.uk/products/tawny-owl

Chainsaw Carving a cat portrait Step-by-step
Переглядів 422Рік тому
This carving was a portrait of my Aunts cat Murphy. He apparently used to spend a lot of time sitting in the garden closely watching my Uncles racing pigeons, presumably hoping to catch one! As far as I know, he never did manage to catch a pigeon, but my cousins thought this sculpture would be an amusing reminder of his persistent antics. I carved this cat back in 2018, but I've only just gotte...

Thank you for posting this video. I am new to this art-retiring from teaching in a year-and I want to master the owl before I move on to bears or other things. You have helped me with the face of these birds. Lovely work.

Beautiful. 👐👐👐

Lovely ❤
Cutting trees 🌳 for this??
No. I only use sustainable timber. Most of it comes from tree surgery waist. Trees that have unfortunately gotten too big are dying or unsafe to leave in people's gardens. This was a conifer that had to be taken down as it was in danger of falling over after storm damage.
WHat is that wood burning tool??? I need it for my sculptures!
Hi, I use a plumbers blowtorch and a little Dremmel Butane Soldering Iron/mini gas blowtorch. Both are readily available from our local hardware stores or online.
Love it.😊❤
Thank you! 😊
Inspiring! Great job. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic
Do you use any particular woods or have favourites? Or is it just what tree has come down recently?
Hi, I normally try and keep a stock of Lawsons Cypress, as it's naturally rot resistant and easy to carve.
@@sallyMaytree Thankyou, I’ve not heard of that!
Love it.😊❤ I will be learning how to use a chainsaw soon. I'm so excited to get to try my hand at this art.
Wonderful! Have fun 👍

Perdon las preguntas son sobre la que utilizas con la espada colving
Hola, que cilindrada tiene la motosierra? Y que largo es la espada que utilizas, gracias de antemano
Hi, I hope I have understood your question correctly. The translation was not very clear. I use 1/4 inch chains only. The bars I use: www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product/cannon-carving-quarter-1435cm-3-8-lo-pro-050-53-drive-links/ This bar I use only for the very fine detail: www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product/multi1-bn6a-4p30-a-sugihara-tough-carver-r7-tip-12-1-4-043-68-drive-links/
The Husqvarna bar is the standard bar that came with the Chainsaw 14" 3/8 1.3mm
Excellent carving!
Thank you very much!
