The baseline synth on closer was actually from a sample pack sold in the 90s called "A poke in the ear" He used and akai sampler while recoding it in the studio It was put through post processing with sample delay ect but the original sample was pretty much left untouched.

Thank you for this. It's crazy how good Trent and his team were at sound design, how much they must have paid attention to that. They weren't just using presets, apparently, they really dialed everything in carefully.

I learned a lot from this channel, I hope we'll see something new someday

I’ve been experimenting around with having the filter open up for the higher notes and I have found that it works even with sounds that I’ve recorded to make my own lead sounds.

I know I’m late to the game, but I’m glad I found this video. I’ve been trying to get a similar baseline and one of my songs, but I think if you added a little bit of course to this, you would be dead spot on perfect.
