On the road since the spring of 1995.
What would happen if you actually took that plunge, lived that dream, and simply rode your trusty steed into the sunset never to return? What places would you see? What parties would you attend? What friends would you make? What women would you bed? What adventures would you enjoy? What manner of hardships might cross your path? Is such a life really even possible?
Well, Scooter Tramp Scotty and the old Electra Glide have been on the road since the spring of 1995 doing exactly that. So come along and see for yourself what the realities of long-term road-life actually are.

In this video we’ll check if the heads need rebuilt – or NOT
If you’ve been thinking about a top-end rebuild, this video will explain it all in stupidly simple detail and you should have all the general info on how it works, what’s important, and if the motor really even needs an entire rebuild.
The general condition of valve guides can easily be checked by hand. Anyone can do it, and I’m gonna show you how. If they’re all good then the heads don’t need rebuild (which’ll save you a ton of money). If there is a badly warn guide of two then you need to make sure the machinist replaces it/them (he may not otherwise, and the motor will just keep using oil). I’ll also show how to hand-lap the valve seats back into a tight seal. This will stop valve leakage and bring compression back up to factory spec. It’s also another job that anyone can do using two inexpensive tools from the auto parts store.
My book “Josie’s Journey” is a not a motorcycle book, but rather a spiritual tale told in the story of one man’s journey to freedom. However, Josie’s is not a flowery yarn, nor does it venture anywhere near the sterile cleanness or deep phycological thought of many spiritual books:

Think it’s time for a motor rebuild? Maybe not. This video explains it all.

In this video I’ll explain when it’s time for a rebuild and when it’s not. And if it is time, we’ll have a look at exactly where the problem is, how to check those two areas, and how to fix them at home. In fact, the entire procedure you’re about to see was done in an old barn using only basic tools Think it’s time for a motor rebuild? If the thing’s not using oil it’s defiantly NOT rebuild tim...

Barbra-Jean claims to have lived on her bike for 19 years and I’ve seen her in different states around the country for at least that long. Her methods differ dramatically from mine, many I find fascinating, and a few of them we are going to hear about in this talk. This is the first of a three part series on both new and long term motorcycle drifters that I met in Sturgis 2024. In it, I’ll be talking with one man and two women. Two of these are rather new to the road while Barbra-Jean has been out here for 19-years. But lets start with a guy who calls himself Half-Ass. Good morning
Rebuilding my 95 FLSTC Orginal Carb and this video is exceptional...many thanks...
Badass way of life Scotty! Just saw someone’s video where you plugged your channel glad to be here!
It's been a while since we've had pizza & soda in Hill City, SD....
What an absolute treat to listen to her story. Thanks for sharing.
Great job on this video very informative Thank you
Hey Scotty I hope you are doing good. I ran into you back in May when we were both at Asheville Harley Davidson. I hope you "scooted" out of there in time!
what brand of adjustable pushrods do you like best? I have tried s&s quickee pushrods and v-thunder and I had clearance issues with the front cylinder on the exhaust side rubbing against the side of the pushrod in the head . also didn't like cutting the pushrod tubes for the s&s rods.
Thank you , I have learned a lot from you over the years, still remember reading your words in Biker magazine and many others. Not just motorcycle things, but so very much more. Take care man
Thanks Scotty !!
I always have Marvel Mystery oil with me in the saddle bag. I put a dash of that stuff (MMO) in the gas every time I fill up. I don't know why most people don't do this. It will extend the life of all the top end parts. I keep a small metal bottle of the stuff on me , but buy it a gallon at a time, This is the kind of stuff old farts do and it worked back in the day and still does work. It's sort of like taking a vitamin. It may take years to really see the results.
I never knew that an oil control ring could just lose tension even with relatively low miles. I thought you had to have a lot of miles before the oil ring gave up.
I have all the tools to do the top end (like the valve spring compressor), but I sure would like to have the stuff to true the flywheels. For a non-pro I have a lot of stuff,. that comes with being 69 years old and buying tools over the years.
Are you safe during all this flooding?
Good video Scotty. I never knew about that suction trick pulling the valves with your finger over the hole. Very interesting
we are of the same mindset, i did a similar but far more crude valve job on an old international bulldozer ... oh the good old days !
Well done STC. I love the ending.
Hi Scotty, enjoy your videos so much. I’m in long-term care so they’re a huge lift for me. Couple questions for you. You never get sunburned on your ears or your back or your neck and have you thought about selling T-shirts with your books at Sturgis you could have them drop shipped right to Sturgis for when you arrive and then if you have leftovers, you can stash them for the next year. Good luck safe travels, and thanks for being there
A little grease will help keep the keeper in place when you put the valve back in. Not at all necessary but it helps me stick them in place with my club hands.
I learnt how to lap valves from my power mech teacher in grade 8. Brigg's and Stratton lawn mower motor.

Tonight is the first time I'm going across the US on a motorcycle or anything
Thanks Scotty good show. No main stream BS media for me. Hope Alex Jones reinvent himself and makes a comeback.
Ive seen this part 2 already lol i need pt.3
Ok, ok!
Hold your horses
Smooth fellow 😅😅
Love old school motor work. Thank you Scotty, love and respect.
good job mate... love the ease of the Evo..... cheers
Good video of an ole Skool machinists work day. No commercial shop has time for that kind of detail. Replace with new, machine it, slap it together and on to the next job. Backyard DIY was only way to go.
It's amazing how similar Evolution engine is to Panhead and Knucklehead. Old school Harley-Davidson thinking was the best! 😊
And I've had enough of you, you piece of crap. That's right it's me that keeps getting your UA-cam channel taking down. Their are some people in this world you can't f"k with. 🤍🇮🇱💙

@@scootertrampscotty surely you have researched what the statue of liberty actually is?
@@Jimbo-v3mIt is chained to the hendecagram or Qliphoth, 11 pointed star or 11 points of evil!
@@timryan7198 The MAIN thing is....look at the chain! ....... its broken. He was already released. We are now in the "little season" That statue was constructed by his minions (masons) to celebrate his release! The millennial reign of Jesus has already been and gone. Its the BIGGEST deception of all time.
Thanks for the video. I sure hope that more people would start going to where the truth is said and learn what the truth is so they can fix themselves and all kinds of other things. It’s hard to convince people we’ve been lied to for this long as soon as you say that they turn you off most of the time, but it is the truth, as always I hope you’re doing well. Scotty learned a little bit of something in this video thank you, sir.
I know. It astonishing. We're being purposely and systematically destroyed and no one wants to hear it? Barnum of Barnum & Baily once said: "You will never go broke overestimating the stupidity of the masses".
do comments and a like help the algorithm? here ya go …
my hearing is so bad I depend on closed captioning...Utube has it...where as the othere don't...So I do watch the othere Yet I'm kinda stuck with the you'tuvbe..
The others are the best place, maybe only place, to check anything heard on mainstream. Mainstream media is their primary weapon and its working unbelievably well!!
I use to do that hand valve grind thing when I was like 14 years old, with supervision of course, I became a good mechanic over the years.
Painted will look etter but, paint can add 10 - 20 degreesof running temp. I read an article in a magazine. I thinkg it was in Cycle Source or maybe Backstreet choppers
Ive heard that too
Did you do a compression test before tear down? Hot and cold?? Also next a leak down test will tell about leakage of valves.
No. A quart of oil every 500 miles was enough evidence for me 😊
Great stuff Scotty. Learned a lot from your instruction!
Hey, my third bike at sixteen hodaka ace 100 with an expansion chamber pipe. Makes me smile thinking bout that one.. im running a progressive monotube kit on my dyna it has performed well, I find brake dive much reduced with these...
@@markstabolito2596 Mine was a Hodoka too. 100cc.
Thanks love it.
That's my new motto, shit don't need to be perfect.
Great information Scotty, you got my mind right. One question, why not replace all the rings? And if the valve seat is really fkt up, can the seat be replaced or is the head junk?
Not trying to hijack your question, but valve seats can be re-cut if pitting/gouge is not too deep.
Yup, seats can be replaced but i trust original more because ive heard of them coming loose. And i did replace all the rings (next vid) 😊
Excellently done video
Thanks for the info Scotty!

Does it really matter those pitts it would not concern me.
Not worried about the little ones.
Awesome video Scotty as always, but you lost me a bit with the red loctite. What were you trying to secure, the rubber seal to the shaft? If so, does loctite really work on rubber? Thanks Scotty!
Yup, thats what i was doing. Those seals dont fit as tight. In fact i had one come off once. Dont know if locktight works or not but a really good mechanic had me do it that way once.
