Ok I have an extremely wild theory. Since Nemesis and Optimus are spark twins, that is very similar to RID 2001 where optimus had a literal brother that being ultra magnus. The other similarity lies in the fact that in both this rewrite and RID 2001, Nemesis and ultra share a commonality of having an initial conflict with optimus prime. Also, bulkhead mentioned that the previous leader of the wreckers had been killed by shockwave, leaving the position open. Given the fact that you take a lot of inspiration from transformers prime, it is safe to assume that ultra magnus will step in. Though I prefer Ultra magnus being optimus's longtime ally, this version would nonetheless be an extremely unique and clever take on the character

I wonder what nemesis's fate will be, either he die sacrificing himself killing shockwave, herald of unicron, or become a full fledged autobot

One element I really enjoyed from FoC and its take on the Dinobots was that Grimlock was just as intelligent in his post-conversion state as he was prior, but that he had difficulty actually articulating because of what Shockwave did to him (whether this was physical or psychological, I'm not entirely sure, but it could be a mix of both). Grimlock having difficulty getting others to understand what he's trying to say is something that I really relate to, especially when I was younger, as I'm on the autism spectrum and communication can be a bit difficult and frustrating. Speech impediments in media (like other disabilities) are often coded towards or synonymous with the pop culture view of "low intelligence". It also reminds me of how stroke victims can sometimes lose their ability to articulate words but can process language just fine, and FoC seemed to imply that Shockwave did mess with grimlock's mind just because he could. I had this video randomly suggested by the algorithm (obligatory "praise the algorithm" comment to appease its fickle machine-spirit) and realized I should probably watch the other rewrites before getting back to this. In general, these are some very well done rewrites. This sort of thing can often come off as fanwank but I personally find them to be fun creative exercises. Unlike what many companies seem to want people to think, you can't really own an idea or narrative, and it can be just as valid of a creative outlet to take existing media and rework it to better fit ones own tastes as creating something "entirely original". Storytelling is inherently deritivative and imitative but not in a bad way. Clichés, tropes, plot structures-- these are all tools that have been refined across countless millenia of human experiences ever since the first human decided to tell the story of how the fish they caught was **this big**. It can be easy to think of creation as a competitive process, but "I think I can do better" doesn't need to be from a place of bad faith and ego. Internet discourse is constantly filled with a need to quantify things or judge it on an "objective" scale, but the vast majority of stuff we like oftentimes comes down to gut reactions and post-hoc justifications. "Art" doesn't need to be some sort of masterpiece, it just needs to have intent behind it, something that it wants to express or say, even if it's something minor. We live in an era where negativity-driven Engagement bait makes it profitable for people to take an approach of "it must be for me or it's not for anyone" (I mean, just look at geewuners). Projects like these are always neat to see because they're relatively low-stakes and honestly are a great way of exercising one's storytelling muscles. For whatever reason, there's this idea in the cultural consciousness that any artist or creator makes things exactly perfect, but for every sculpture someone like Michaelangelo made, there were countless learningexperiences, mistakes, and experiments, because the creative process is just that: a process, not an input and output chain. You've earned yourself a subscriber. Keep up the good work. I'm very much looking forwards to what occurs in the next installment considering this is going in a completely different direction than the films.

Shockwave going full G2 is a fun twist. He's one of those characters who has multiple different "values" that can be tweaked (loyalty to megatron, ruling cybertron, being logical, or mad scientist) because of his vastly different incarnations across the years, and yet they're all quintessentially shockwave.

I feel like this version of Megatron and Optimus's final battle is much more thematically resonant than Optimus committing a war crime because "let's find out lmao" It's not Optimus who initiates it, but Megatron and his hubris. It turns the final battle of this war into a bit of a gladiator match, which feels like the way Megatron would want to go out. Either he wins and conquers Earth but has to live with the fact that Cybertron is lost once again, or Prime ends him and he gets the last laugh by showing Prime he couldn't solve this war with idealism and Diplomacy. (EDIT: I wrote this before the fight scene was explained and it went pretty much as I expected, including Meg's reaction to his death, which is pretty solid character writing) Of course, a lot of this has to do with a lack of executive meddling, more hindsight, and a bunch of other factors-- I don't really think any of the scriptwriters for 07 or DOTM wanted to tell a bad story, they just didn't get the opportunity to refine these ideas into what they could have been. Writers rarely get the level of respect they need from the production side of film-making, especially for films like these that are seen as little more than money printers by corporate and recruitment propaganda by the Department of Defense (which is why the military features so heavily in 07, ROTF, and DOTM). EDIT 2 (Cybertronium Boogaloo): I really like this interpretation of Sentinel. If the core theme of the DOTM rewrite is "How does war push people to extremes" then Sentinel is very much a solid example of what happens with radicalization and extremism, how someone can think they're in the right and entirely justified despite sacrificing every element of their morality for that goal. It's a good mirror of Megatron and Optimus and how the war changed the both of them. His end is also much more resonant than being executed (despite the original being very meme-worthy) because it's him suffering for his own actions. While Optimus does make a conscious decision to neglect his mentor's wounds and let him bleed out and suffer, it's entirely understandable why he would do that considering Sentinel's actions. It's the furthest possible fall from grace and ends the arc in a way that makes sense.

The US Military will fund big blockbusters as long as it shows them in a positive light (Battleship, the other hasbro adaptation by Bay, is similar). It's also the only way film makers can use actual military vehicles or equipment as props and the US Military gets the final say in how it's presented. Transformers 07 was a car commercial meets a military propoganda film with some toys tacked on. That doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed, or that people are wrong for liking it, it's just the corporate reality of the product.

Nice rewrite, i also had the idea of shockwave surviving dotm and being the villian after megatron's death in my bayverse rewrite too In my AOE rewrite lockdown survived the fight in hong kong and ratchet didnt got killed by him but shockwave appeared and killed ratchet. Sadly shockwave was very strong because he tricked ksi into rebulding him into shockblast (galvatron isn't a thing in my rewrite) so because of that bumblebee, arcee (she survived rotf and has her rise of the beasts design in this rewrite) hound, crosshairs and drift weren't killed but were brutally defeated by him. Only ultra magnus (yeah he exists in my rewrite) and optimus were actually strong enough to defeat him, meanwhile, lockdown escapes. (He later returns in the last knight) My rewrite version of shockwave also considers megatron a traitor because he wanted to end the war forever (optimus accepted megatron's truce but he got killed by sentinel afterwards) Shockwave also replaces megatron in the last knight and he's actually he's main villain instead of quintessa.

Grimlock choosing to follow Optimus through a code of honour works so much better for the character than bowing down to a death threat - imo of course - such a nicer way to encourage further teamwork with prime and the Dinobots, and not just have them just appear in a junkyard with the bots after they’re set free and run off in China

I have to say, Prowl & Drift’s arguments just works as a good contrast between a Cop and a Samurai. Sure they may fight for what’s right, but they have different moralities & codes that makes them stand out from none another. Plus Prowl is more of the Law & Order kind of Justice, whereas Drift’s more of an honorable warrior. I think their arguments help gives this rewrite some inner conflicts between the characters, something the actual movie tried to do, but failed miserably.

These just keep getting better and better! I love the science behind the matrix and its creation of the new generation of Decepticons. I also can’t wait to see the other cells of Decepticon remnants. It would be cool to see if the Combaticons still exist as well (bias cuz they’re my favorite combiner team).
