As has been the experience, writing inside of MuseScore 4 is extremely volatile right now. I actually had to resort to a good deal of editing in MuseScore 3 while writing this. Another demonstration of the power of Muse Sounds and the MuseScore 4 play engine when notation is sequenced for realism. This demonstration also touches on a workaround for instrument sample range issues in Muse Sounds. Workarounds like this have been used in MIDI sequencing for years and they work just as well inside of MuseScore.

We look closer at specific solutions to create realism with the MuseScore 4 Muse Sounds and play-from-notation engine.

Timepiece is a chamber orchestra work written to test out the new Musescore 4 play engine and sounds. This is a 'playback' file with additional articulations and unorthodox expressions to create the most human performance sound possible in a short period of time.

We discuss strategies for improving Musescore 4 playback by creating a playback file with variance using MIDI sequencer style alterations to the notation.
