Carl, thanks for this. I find myself fascinated with your clean mixer panel layout you've got displayed so nicely at the bottom. I tend to have my mixer running full screen on another monitor but honestly, there's little benefit due to it's odd internal layout. Once again, you're making me rethink everything.
Wow, great performance, I like Qtractor but I can't figure it out how to set multiple outputs drum plugins like Drumgizmo and AVLDrums, but in midi, is a beast, the best midi DAW on Linux!
Very good composition, Carl, well mixed to. I can not get QTractor to work that way, because i ALWAYS have some issue with Jack or Jack2. So i keep using LMMS and Ardour where i can choose Alsa as the server. Anyway, vary well done.
Ugh. Jack is a major pain. I wish that Qtractor would formulate a purely pulse audio / alsa dependent mode. It used to have one years ago. Try ideas from here, if you haven't already. www.reddit.com/r/linuxaudio/comments/mzz1cq/jack_just_wont_start_ubuntu_2004_on_hp_omen_15/ For me, it helped to do the following in qjack ctrl: - set frame rate to 1008 - specifically designate output card to hw:0 or 1 (rather than as 'default'). See what options you have in your list. - additionally you should wait for a short while for all audio drivers to load at start up before opening a qtractor session.. you can also start jack in qjack ctrl when qtractor fails to launch it automatically. - lastly, it is vital that you use a distribution that is built for AV like Ubuntu Studio LTS. Use a fresh installation with nothing more than the KXstudio repository. Use appimage versions of up to date applications without monkeying around with the distribution or adding a bunch of specific repositories and additional hacks. Keep your distro as clean as possible. Good luck! I tell you this because while LMMS is awesome and I still use it for some electronic centered stuff... it simply can't do what I demonstrated here due to its midi controller/automation limitations (specifically on the mod wheel, which is needed for the VPO performance sample sets).
@@i-scoresmusic3928 Thanks Carl, i think i have tried the solutions in that link, and even have tried AV linux with wine-windows-plugins and Garuda linux with pipewire preinstalled, but there to, some problems here and there. And i don't like to switch to other distro's too much. now i am using Manjaro and am very pleased with that. Maybe we have to wait until Pipewire is fully operational. At this time i am downloading librazik, but according to the size of it (3.4 Gb) i think is maybe a bit too new for my desktop, but i let you know. Thanks. Jean
Carl, i have seen your video of today where we can put a face to a name. Thank you for that. Meanwhile i have tried the librazik studio live OS and as i would expect, somewhat like Ubuntu Studio with tons of software, however the most important thing NO SOUND out of my speakers. So i really hope the developers of Qtractor listen to you and make it possible to have the choice to select ALSA as server, because i have no issues with this server to make music. Maybe it is because i disabled my crappy onboard sound-card in the bios settings and have a USB audio interface, and honestly, i don't care anymore. I keep using alsa.
@@germona I have to admit, I don't expect that there will be a change. The creator has been somewhat adamant about Qtractor being a Jack application that serves the QJackCtrl and various other Jack aware plug-ins that he maintains. He also rejects the idea that Qtractor is a DAW, and therefore shouldn't be compared with other applications. But... there's no harm in making the case!
@@germona Hi, its 2 month ago, but want to share. I run Manjaro with pipewire and pipewire-jack. I start qtraktor with 'pw-jack qtractor %f' and it runs fine, i use helvum as patchbay.
Beautiful theme with an elegant DAW , I think I've seen enough , Ubuntu Studio is to be my definite tool. Many thanks.
Awesome composition and orchestration !!
Also great to see the power of QTractor
