I have been playing guitar and mando for 60 years and the daughter of the man who taught me to play guitar sent me a dorbo he had build that had been setting in a closet in Arizona since the 90s. After a little work on some dry wood shrinkage issues on the instrument, its time to learn to play. Joe: I have an older Wechter-Scheerhorn I had pro set up with luthier Kent Schoonover guitars. And have an old black Morgan Monroe I had pro set up with R.Q. Jones cone & spider, put in Open D tuning. Can you post some Open D videos ??

Can someone tell me what the black pad is? I've been playing dobro all my life and I've never used one? Just to protect the finish and cover plate I'm guessing?

Ironically; Tomorrow I will be stealing wholesale from Blues Licks #1,2,4,5 , and all the Licks from the Moveable Licks video. 😂 ( Some of this I had already been doing variants of , but I be trying out how you have them logically tied together . Joe is an excellent Dobro player..I've gotten several lessons..and they were great to learn.

Joe, first song I learned in the 60s. Mentor taught it to me in E as he was a steel man. Later met Craig Wingfield and he explained most Dobro players used G so he retaught me. All these many years and no real progress. I can play the Rag though.🦇

My grandfather just passed away at 91 and I was able to end up with his dobro and I’m wanting to start learning and was feeling intimidated but your videos are great! Hopefully I’ll catch on to it here shortly!

Joe...Love your playing and your lessons. I'm just getting started. I've heard you and several others mention "Real World" jam tracks. Do you have a link? I Googled to find them, but with no success. I would like to have accompaniment to practice against. To my surprise, finding a local Dobro teacher is like pulling teeth. I live in Greenville, SC near Asheville, NC, about an hour southeast. That area is a folk music capitol. You would think finding an instructor would be a piece of cake.

I have to compliment your talent for teaching...parts 1 and 2 broke it wide open for my playing...I thank you very much...
