GTAW - Identifying Contamination
This video explains some of the basics when it comes to identifying contamination of tungsten electrodes, and how to recognize if your ceramic cups, gas lens, and collet bodies are beyond repair and should no longer be used.
Examples of contamination in tungsten electrodes, ceramic cups, and gas lenses are provided, and there is also a brief explanation on how to remove contamination when possible.
Again, these are just the basics. Future videos will go into more detail with some of the topics discussed in this video.

Welding Symbols 2 - Groove Welds Pt. 1
Переглядів 26 тис.2 роки тому
This video continues where my previous welding symbol video leaves off. Where the first one discusses fillet welds, this video introduces groove weld symbols, specifically the single bevel and v-groove. Information is discussed relating to information that can be found on the welding symbol with both types of grooves. Information like depth of bevel, groove angle, root spacing, and more.
Oxyfuel - Track Cutter Demonstration
Переглядів 4,8 тис.2 роки тому
In this video I demonstrate how to operate a track cutter made by Victor, using oxygen and acetylene. Students need to know of the many methods that can be used to cut steel, especially when learning to cut coupons out of their test plates. This method, when used properly can produce cuts that more higher in quality than most manual cutting processes.
Introduction to Welding Symbols
Переглядів 61 тис.2 роки тому
This video explains what weld symbols are, and how to identify their meaning when drawn on a reference line. Examples are given to reinforce concepts related to fillet welds, fillet weld size, length, pitch, and contour. This is Part 1 in a new series of Welding Symbol videos, which I intend to phase out my older welding symbol videos with.

It prepares students for structural work they may do out in industry, and prepares them for open-groove welding that they will get to do in the SMAW advance class. SMAW Intermediate - Identifying Steel & Other Metals
Переглядів 9432 роки тому
Three easy tests to identify steel and other metals are demonstrated in this video; the magnet test, spark test, and the scratch test. In a perfect world, metal shops have all materials labeled so that there is no confusion or doubt as to what metal a welder/fabricator has just grabbed to work on a project with. While there are systems in place for us to "easily" identify what metal is what, so...

Great teaching. Probably saved people 1 day of college in the uk for less than 1 hour vide. Been welding since I was 12 with my dad and for all the jobs I've switched the last 20 years. Ive never had to work with drawings but always wanted to learn and you have made them less intimidating. Thank you.

You're probably new to welding so I would suggest trying some 7014 which is about all I use. Very easy to use, lays a beautiful, strong bead with flux falling off if settings are correct. Restarts super easy too. I strike a new rod on scrap steel then go to weld.

This person doesn't have enough knowledge how to use a track torch.. He's making the flame, too hot. The torch is also too high... Once the plate is preheated, the torch needs to be backed off, where just the edge of the blue core is touching the plate. Open the Main cut stream and activate the motion

the mode on the left(soft arc) is for low hydrogen rods(7018) and the one on the right(crisp arc) is for high cellulose rods(6010) but of course you can switch that but actually entering the arc force for each of those settings but thats the way lincoln has designed it
