Приєднався 26 бер 2014
I am a certified chemistry teacher (AP chemistry, honors chemistry, grade level chemistry) and this is the place to come to for chemistry help! This UA-cam channel is a resource for my chem students to bring the concepts and lessons from the classroom to them at home. This channel is meant to teach lessons at home in the form of tutorial videos, provide a "how to" refresher for several concepts step by step, provide extra help or flipped classroom videos, or be used in place of a tutor. A lot of the videos on the channel have been specifically requested by my students.
Some topics include: atomic structure, electron configuration, orbital diagrams, periodicity, waves and wave equations, half life and writing decay equations, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, ionic compounds, formulas and naming, drawing lewis structures, kinetics, equilibrium, le chatelier's principle, thermodynamics, heat of reaction, acids and bases, molarity, conversions, and intermolecular forces (IMFs).

How to solve for pH or Ka in Weak Acid Problems + SHORTCUT | AP Chemistry
Переглядів 1023 місяці тому
In this AP chemistry tutorial video, I explain how a weak acid problem differs from a strong acid problem. For a weak acid, the Ka is a measure of how much the weak acid ionizes. If given the Ka and initial acid concentration, you can solve for the pH by completing an equilibrium problem relating to the ionization of the acid or the dissociation of the acid. I show how you can solve this with b...
Ksp and Molar Solubility Explained | How to Calculate Ksp | How to Calculate Molar Solubility
Переглядів 1834 місяці тому
This is a video explaining Ksp and molar solubility. First, the chemical reaction associated with Ksp is introduced. We talked about concepts related to Ksp and molar solubility problems. We then get into calculations and show how to calculate Ksp given the molar solubility, and how to calculate the molar solubility given the Ksp.

In this video, I talk about activation energy, catalysts, how temperature and catalysts affect the Maxwell-Boltzmann Distribution Curve.
What are Partial Pressures | Calculating Partial Pressure | Dalton's Law Equation Tutorial
Переглядів 948 місяців тому
In this chemistry tutorial video, I walk you through what partial pressure is, how you can calculate it, and how you can use it to solve for the total pressure in a mixture using Dalton's Law Equation. We go through Daltons Law Equation and I show you how to use the ideal gas equation, PV=nRT, for partial pressures or total pressures. We take a look at how partial pressure relates to molarity o...
How to Draw A Particle Diagram for a Precipitation Reaction
Переглядів 35211 місяців тому
In this chemistry tutorial video, I walk you through how to write a particle diagram or particulate model for a precipitation or double replacement reaction. I walk you through where certain ions should be placed in the solution, or precipitated at the bottom of the solution. I talk about the products, and relative ratios that should be drawn, as well as what to do for limiting and excess react...
What is Q, the Reaction Quotient | Predict Reaction Shift or Direction | Equilibrium AP Chemistry
Переглядів 112Рік тому
In this chemistry tutorial video, you will learn about Q, the quotient, which is really just the number you get when plugging in INITIAL concentrations (or partial pressures) into the equilibrium constant expression rather than equilibrium concentrations (or partial pressures). We can check if we are at equilibrium at any point by plugging in the initial data to calculate Q. If Q = K, then we a...
Gibbs Free Energy and the Equilibrium Constant (∆G and K)
Переглядів 320Рік тому
In this chemistry tutorial video, you will learn how Gibbs free energy (∆G) relates to equilibrium and the equilibrium constant, K. I start out by reviewing standard state conditions and what Q, the quotient, is at standard state (Q=1). Then we go into how a thermodynamically favorable reaction means that the reaction is going forward to create product, so when , ∆G is less then 0 or negative, ...
PE Diagrams - How to Read and Interpret a Potential Energy Diagram (For AP Chemistry)
Переглядів 377Рік тому
In this chemistry tutorial video, you will learn how to read and interpret a PE diagram. A potential energy diagram, or PE diagram, shows the changes in energy throughout the course of a reaction. We can use these potential energy diagrams or PE graphs to find the heat of reaction, activation energy, effect of a catalyst, and more for our reaction.
Properties of Molecular, Ionic, and Metallic Substances | Lattice Energy | Ionic vs. Molecular
Переглядів 207Рік тому
In this chemistry tutorial video, we look at properties of molecular compounds, ionic compounds, and metals. For ionic compounds, we will look at what lattice energy is, and how different factors affect lattice energy. For metallic substances, we will also look at the two different types of allows: interstitial and substitutional alloys. 0:00 Properties of Molecular compounds 2:23 Ionic Compoun...
How to Read A Bond Energy Diagram for Bond Formation | Bond Length and Bond Strength
Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
This chemistry tutorial video first reviews several facts about bonds that are needed to be known in order to accurately read and interpret a bond energy diagram, such as factors that affect bond length and strength, and how a bond is a force of attraction that requires energy to break. Then, it walks you through how an energy diagram for bond formation is created, and how it changes based on b...
Sigma and Pi Bonds, and Factors that Affect Bond Length and Strength
Переглядів 520Рік тому
In this video, we will look at the difference between sigma and pi bonds, and how to determine how many sigma and pi bonds are in a structure. We then look at factors that affect bond length and bond strength (atomic radius and type of bond). 0:00 What are sigma bonds 1:38 What are pi bonds 3:47 How to tell how many sigma and pi bonds are in a structure 4:47 Practice example for determining sig...

Heats of formation: What's a formation reaction and how to find ΔH from heats of formation
thank you for the quick recap 😀
I don't understand how oxygen is=O2
Very helpful 😊
Thank you! So happy you found it to be helpful!
What about a standard condition of 14.7psi and 60°F
Hi! To convert between moles and volume with any other other temperature and pressure condition, I recommend using the ideal gas law equation (PV=nRT) and plugging in the appropriate temperature and pressure (you may have to convert units depending on which R value you use).
The explanation about being the easiest to oxidise or reduce was really helpful!
Thank you!! I'm so glad that you found it to be helpful! Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!
I took hours studying this, she explains it the best you get learnt it in 10 min

Mrs. Cash, i have a homework where i have to fund the molecular formula. I saw the vid u posted three years ago on it but in the question u did the molecular mass was given but for my homework its not given how do i find it?
I tried doing the molar mass formula to find it but then it becomes 119.5/119.5 which doesn’t look right
I tried doing the molar mass formula to find it but then it becomes 119.5/119.5 which doesn’t look right
The question is ( An compound on analysis was found to contain 10.6 percent carbon 0.84 percent hydrogen and 89.10 percent chlorine. What will be the empirical formula and molecular formula of the substance ) - i have already found the empirical formula which is CHCl3 but i cant find the molecular formula
If K isn’t equal to 1, why does the delta G still have the standard symbol?
Mrs.cash, I’m a student in korea I love you so much, other videos did not tell me things like this(like the shortcuts), and it’s so well organized. I can’t understand my chemistry teacher even he is saying in my language I can understand your language better haha. Anyway thanks.(that was my longest comment I have written😅) thanks, love you with all my heart❤❤
You are so welcome! I'm so happy to help! If there's any other topic you need help with, feel free to reach out :)
