using the luzon as your letter opener is crazy work haha
@ivannolia5458 The Luzon is just plain fun and it really does make a nice letter opener 😁
My favorites cold steel are ad10 spear point, recon 1 clip point, 4max scout, american lawman and broken skull
@alessiotraverso9201 Somehow your comment double posted. I answered the other one.
My favorites cold steel are ad10 spear point, recon 1 clip point, 4max scout, american lawman and broken skull
@alessiotraverso9201 Those are all great choices! It is hard to go wrong with Cold Steel. They may not have the latest and fastest lock, but more importantly they have a very strong lock, which is important in a working knife.
@@LastChanceKnives Absolutely agree cold steel is a sturdy knife with a granite block. Reliable, safe and cuts like a charm. Since Lynn Thompson has been gone there has been a drop in quality I hate to say but that's how it is. I'm Italian I hope I answered correctly
You have a great collection of Cold Steel folders, thanks for sharing. 👍I only have one, the Recon 1 spear-point in s35vn and I like it a lot. 👌Take care my friend and Cheers!
@@singingtoad The Recon 1 in any version is such a great knife! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Lynn would be proud with all those tantos!
@pretztel1551 I love a good tanto! Lynn would want to see one with serrations, though! I don't like serrations for an edc knife that is going to be used for work.
Solid lineup! Thanks for showing these off, buddy!
@@davidkurle5418 I do love my Cold Steel Knives! I've been buying them for at least 30 years now!
19..
@@gvines You didn't watch until the end!
Everything in that kit looks very useful, I'm not sure whether the knipex stuff is worth the money, kinda like a write in the rain note book, or space pen that everyone puts in their kits, you added a pencil thats a smart use of money, otherwise useful stuff in your kit
Sweet collection Ken. You and your family have a wonderful day and a wonderful Thanksgiving my friend.🙏🏻🙏🏻🦃🦃
@@jeffjackson5331 Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
@ you’re welcome! We are going to give our best, thanks
I have most of them...but no Espada yet...=)
@Tardisius You have to get an Espada then. Of The two the large is more practical than the XL. Did I say practical? LOL 🤣
3 of my favorites are the large Espada, Recon 1, AD10
@@halcooper6059 I like the large Espada and the Voyager XL a lot. They both hit the sweet spot for a large knife that still is excellent for edc and that disappears in the pocket.
I like everyone of them. LOL.. all quite similar but I'm sure very different in feel operation and tasks..
@thebodybeatdownDiTi They are similar but different and every one is a keeper!
Man Ken tour killin me over here….. if there’s a modern that I love that would be my cold steel knives….. if it wasn’t so late and I was in bed I’d break my cold steels out….. maybe it’s me but I can carry the big ones and not really feel it in the pocket great knives brother….. thank you so much for showing these great knives…. Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe out there 😊
@jerseyknifeguy6382 Break em out! Let's see those CS Knives! Have a great Thanksgiving! I feel the same way, those large ones just disappear in the pocket and are easy to cary.
nice collection
@@MacBeanScottishFitness Thanks! Cold Steel makes a great knife for a great price. Many of them I have had for years.
These knives turned out great, Ken. Glad you were able to save that Case and OT from the scrap.
Knives that I have worked on end up getting carried a lot more than ones I haven't. It's funny how that works. I do love the scallops. They look better, but more importantly now have a good grip. Have a Great Thanksgiving!
Great mods on all of those. thanks for sharing...Jim
Thanks! I am really happy with how they turned out, much nicer than plain smooth delrin.
How did you go about tightening up the bolsters?
@peterfreidel7721 Take a look at this video. In it I tighten the blades and sand/polish the bolsters. ua-cam.com/video/eUXy8HMk9o8/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Thanks, I did get some of the side to side play out with a padded vise@@LastChanceKnives
@@peterfreidel7721 I am glad that the simple fix worked! Since the pins were not peened the wobble may return over time. The Old Timer in the video was really loose and way passed squeezing in a vice. For some reason I pictured you were dealing with one that was pretty bad. If it gets loose again the best thing to do is peen the pins so that it holds the bolsters together. You may be lucky and never have to touch it again, which would be great!
This is great Ken! Thanks for sharing this with us! Love the scalloping on these... they are great knives!
@@J.O.VenturesOutdoors I like the smaller scallops on the small knives and the bigger scallops on the larger one. It's best when they match the size of the knife.
@ also I sent you an email about this project.
I bought RR yellow delrin stockman to give this a try! I hope mine turns out as well as yours!
@@waynemiracle8928 Will you post a video of the finished knife? I would live to see it. Practice on some scrap wood before working on the knife.
@ Thank you for the advice. I thought that would be the best thing to do is to practice on some wood. I certainly will if I can figure out how to post a video to you some way! Thanks for your encouragement and videos! Much appreciated!
My brother fantastick work!!!!!!!!!! Very nice looking knives, buddy!
Well by now you know that I can never leave anything alone! LOL
The first knife has to have something special to it for you to spend so much time on it. It's your baby.
There is nothing special about that particular knife. It was dirt cheap off of ebay. With a little TLC it gets a second chance at life. These old high quality knives that can be found almost for free are fun to restore and use.
You really did a great job with the scallops on those knives Ken. Very nice!
Thanks! It is fun to mod these knives!
Those knives with the scallops look fantastic!!!!
Thanks! I have loved scallops ever since the first time I saw them many years ago.
I was thinking about you today I put some oil on my wallet I bought off you….. you should see how soft it’s getting……. Stay safe Ken 😊
I have now past the year and a half mark carrying mine every day. The leather that I use on the wallets is oil tanned. It will always be a little stiffer than veg tanned. I wanted the wallet to hold it's shape better than veg tan would allow.
His Stanley ratchet is a 3/8, however, the wera sockets in his kit, are 1/4 inch drive. Good luck with that scenario
@1Barsamian Nice try, it is a 1/4" ratchet and works perfectly with all the sockets. It's really funny how many people are negative about this tool kit video. On the other hand, there has been 50 times as much constructional criticism, which is something that I appreciate. It has made this kit even better!
If you don't have a full complement of the short spaces filled, are the ones that are in there going to be wobbly?
@penitentialarts There are 5 spaces and they all have to be filled. Some I plements take up more than 1 space. For example the phillips driver takes up 2 spaces. The 1/4" bit holder takes 4 spaces. If all 5 spaces are not filled the implements will wobble. My tool came with some plastic spacers that could be used if you do not have enough implements to fill the tool up.
Nice work!
Thanks! I am very happy with the knife now!
This process was really neat to see, buddy! Cheers!
I am glad it was useful.
Nice..turned out good as always.
Thanks!
What a fantastic job Ken! Looks way better and its got some mass grip now for sure!
The grip is much better. That is the main reason for adding the scallops, but it also looks better too!
You probably said it, but why do you go one direction?
@@JustineWiniker It was easier to sand in one direction to keep from hitting the bone covers. Don't fix blade centering the way I did it in this video. I figured out much better ways later on that only take a couple of minutes to do without loosening the pivot. I think this was my first try at centering a blade.
I seriously wonder if there's anything you can't do man. Very nice
Thanks! Well, I have never done brain surgery 🤯🧠🤯care to volunteer???
@LastChanceKnives I love you man and if you had the knowledge I would trust you but for right now let's just skip that part 😂
Looks good Ken. Good job bud. You have a wonderful evening.
Thanks! I am much happier with the knife now. Yellow delrin is a little plain. Some texture makes a big difference!
Looks great!
@Alabama-Knife-and-Tool Thanks! I think scallops are what make make yellow delrin! It's still a great high viz working knife but with better looks and grip.
@ I agree. You’ve inspired me to try this a some point.
@@Alabama-Knife-and-Tool It is not hard. Test it out on scrap wood until you get the feel of things.
This is great Ken!! Wow! This model is one of my favorites in my collection! Thanks for sharing this with us!!
@J.O.VenturesOutdoors Do you want the knife scalloped? I would be happy to do it for you! I really like scalloped yellow delrin!
@ 😀 Really? I was thinking of asking you but didn’t want to impose…thanks! I’ll email you..
@J.O.VenturesOutdoors Next Saturday I'll show the 3 that I have done so far. The other ones are 3 7/8" Stockman with a smaller scallop pattern, since they are smaller knives. You will be able to get a look at them side by side to see what you like better.
@ great 👍
I loved how you modified your sog and arch as well..I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with on the long and short blanks they offer.
@@Daveggay Thanks! There are a few new blades coming out this month that I want to get. I'll probably order a few blanks at the same time. I am not sure yet what to make out of a blank, but I am sure something will come to mind. There are a few more Leatherman mods that will be coming in a few weeks.
I keep asking you if you want to be my neighbor…….. fantastic job Ken be safe out there 😊
@jerseyknifeguy6382 Every time you say that I get the image of Mr. Roger's in my head! Do you remember him? "Won't you be my neighbor?" 🤣😂🤣 With just a little TLC and these RR's can be fantastic knives!
That turned out pretty nice! Might try that on one of my RRs. Thanks for sharing!
@diverdave2179 Practice on a piece of scrap wood until you get the pattern right. Then go ahead and scallop the knife. I would love to see the finished product!
I like how you're not scared to just do things like this. Making them truly your own. Good job
@thebodybeatdownDiTi Even though this was only a $12 knife I have made mods on knives that are a couple hundred. Those ones are a little more scarry!
That looks great! Nice job on that modification. 👍🔪
@@RadioGeekBlades I have done a few of these now. Maybe I'll make a video showing scalloped knives.
@@LastChanceKnives That would be very cool to see.
Free hand skills are on point 👍
@magbertrafuna3714 Thanks! You can take the time to carefully draw out a pattern, but that's not how I like to do it. Alterations have to be made on the fly to deal with things like the shield and the angled bolsters.
Another nice looking blade
Hello there. Hope you feel a little better tonight.
@thebodybeatdownDiTi just a bit. This one is a ^$^#>
@MacBeanScottishFitness Sometimes these cheap ones along with a little work can make the best knives!
Good job
@ringaleavo Thanks! With just a little work these RR's can be quite nice!
@@LastChanceKnives Yea, I'm a fan too
I'm in the process of doing some mods on my SOG PowerPint, which I love this tool. Size, weight, multi-carry options, all the important tools I want, and some I don't need. Just a great smaller tool. I removed the cross tip driver bc the flat tip drivers work on cross tip screws just as well. Tool I don't need or care for, is the serrated knife. I wanna replace that with a wood saw blade, and any advice on going about that would be greatly appreciated. I like the scissors and awl, but wanna replace em with better ones, or making em more functional. Scissors don't cut as well as Victorinox/SAK, and besides those, none really do. I prefer the awl to be more of a wood, leather, and soft metal punch, rather than more for sewing.
@jphillips2471 Replacing the serated blade with a saw is a great idea. I have been thinking about this today. What came to mind is starting with a Sawzall blade and grinding it to the proper shape. The right jigsaw blade may also work. I am going to do a fix on the scissors. I think that they can be made a lot better by tightening them up and a little sharpening. I don't like the hole that is in the awl either. To me it feels like a weak spot. You can take a long shank 1/4" bit and grind an awl on it. The tool can be used a a handle. I have made an awl and a chisel out of leatherman flat bits. The chisel still gets carried with selection of most used bits in 1 sleeve. The sleeve and P4 fit nicely in a belt sheath.
Great kit 😊
@rasputinscastle Thanks! I am testing out a Knaffs Knife Roll right now and have everything over to it. After it is tested for a while there will be a review.
awesome video and kit, that tool check plus is going for around 90 dollars these days its a shame.
@tacocow5815 Wow! You are right about the price. I just checked. I bought my Tool Check Plus several years before covid and paid $35 for it. At that price it was a great deal, but at today's price I cannot recomend it. I am due to post a revised version as the kit has been "tuned " over time. I'll add an alternative option to the Tool Check.
Thanks for sharing these videos Ken!!
You never know what you will find on my channel! I am not as focused on just one thing like a lot of people are.
You seem to know what you're doing..So wont question your methods..Always great stuff..Have a good day!!
I know just enough to be dangerous! LOL
Thank you again for taking the time to show us. Kind regards Cliff
I was glad to do it! Hopefully it helps someone or someone tells me a better way of doing something!
Nice kit. I would recommend a thicker produce bag(s) or something similar which can double as a trash bag, a bag to hold a bunch of small parts so you don't lose anything, or can sub as a cheap glove when dealing with dirty or wet repairs. Having a disposable bag has been invaluable for me in the past. Best part is that folds easily, and can fit in the netting pocket.
I actually have some bags like that, it is a good idea. I have added disposable gloves in the kit since I need them for working with theater type lighting.
