Will Starmer sell us out to China??!!
After meeting with Xi Jinping, Starmer will be eager to secure a deal with the Chinese, because, to him, this is preferable to having a strings-attached deal with the USA, where we would be required to comply with basic civil liberties in order to gain special access to their markets and investments.

Stamergrad EP 1: The Labour Technocrats Hate Us

The British public is being gaslit by the government, judiciary, and elites who are actively dismantling Western culture. Our country is falling apart while the so-called experts-middle-class academics living in a fantasy-tell us to accept it. I think that nothing will change because there is no Dynamic Leader to gather the people to a common cause. People look to Tommy Robinson but he is openly for the Zionists. Civic Nationalism is also not the answer just look at how that is going. The only real answer is Ethnonationalism but few would say it openly and many may balk at the suggestion but what is the alternative if there is one other than the continued self destruction?

    All need to re-read Solzhenitsyn now! To realise that this whole damn this is a attempt at the global consolidation of power, by way of infiltration, subversion and sabotage existing institutions, intelligence, networks, and state structures. The monarchy particularly need to wake up to the fact that if they sign up to this, they are making themselves no longer necessary, and if the price is a seat at the table of a global government, they should be very wary! Traditionally, extremist authoritarian radical political movements like the one currently behind our series of puppet governments (on both sides for the last 10) usually eventually dispense with everyone who helped get them capture and hold state power. I don’t see this one as any different in fact it may even be worse insofar as they are doing this globally, everyone needs to stop complaining about their individual nations issues and look at this as a global coup! 1. Proxy Hot War crisis 2. Weaponised health crisis 3. Weaponised economic crisis 4. Weaponised environmental crisis 5. Weaponised political crisis 6. Weaponised migration crisis 7. Weaponised food crisis 8. Weaponised disaster management crisis 9. Weaponised terrorism crisis … are you paying attention? The nature of government, ALL government, is to increase in size and consolidate power toward itself. It is a feature of all governments, and without being held in check leads to the destruction of the society it supposedly managing through a slow transfer of more and more power from the individual to itself - it starts with social programs such as the NHS, that becomes a substitute for personal responsibility, education and the development of character is moved from parents to schools and teachers, business is increasingly controlled and burdened by regulation for a never ending number of reasons. The system exists for itself, like a parasite until the host is dead.

    The brand of Christianity indicted by the speaker is from people trying to be nicer than God. Turn the other check is also misunderstood. Jesus says if someone strikes you on the right cheek, this is significant The deeper meaning behind this statement lies in the cultural context of the time. When someone struck another person, it was typically done with the back of their hand. Striking the right cheek would require using the back of the right hand, which was considered more honorable. By turning the other cheek, the person being struck challenges the aggressor to strike them with the left hand, which was considered unclean. It's a defiant act, challenging the attacker's honor. It is not to lay down and take a beating. Jesus also said "And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one" Jesus, a religious Jew, promotes a culture of life. Part of that culture is understanding the right of self-defense. Jesus also said “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe." Life is our most valuable possession

    Really good assessment about society and how the devouring mother archetype has become mainstream. I, myself, have been saying similar through the years in a much more crude manner. I feel that it's due to all the single parent homes and communities here in the US. That along with men abandoning roles in education have led to generations of kids growing up only taught by these devouring mother types of women in the home and then in K through 12. The situation is quite apparent to me but is hardly discussed in a manner that brings up devouring mothers. However, I think that's, in large part, where the problems are coming from. Feminism, the welfare state, and then single parent households. Those single mothers often raise up children that become the narcissistic entertainers that so much of our society looks up to. They essentially become the rappers, singers, actors, professional athletes, etc. So many of those folks have the largest platforms that impact and influence the world around us. This is truly an important topic! Thanks for speaking on it.

      Thanks for the response. The problem here is that it is amorphous in nature - its become an integrated part of the world we live in, the air that we breathe... with the additional problem that it is assumed to be a "good", so more of it must be better - hence bigger government, more safetyism, more expansion of the meaning of what "harm" is - all leading to a decline in mental health and happiness. Not good.

    Like companies governments will look for ways to cut costs and removing teachers will be an inevitable outcome once AI is good enough. Could also mean AI schooling from home as well. But i think this is still a 5-10 years away..... i hope. I am curious about the need of Education when AI will be doing those jobs anyway?

    • @james_nash
      @james_nash 7 місяців тому

      Companies certainly will, but after alot of thought I think that teachers will be in high demand : the problem is that the nature of teaching will change radically - lots of discussion, lots of time spent working in teams, lots of personal development and cooperation, critical thinking etc - so most peoples idea of education (learning subjects etc) will be passed off to AI systems, but the development of young people, citizenship etc will become the primary focus of teachers, which cannot be replaced.

    • @yakamo
      @yakamo 7 місяців тому

      @@james_nash i think that would be ideal. Looking at the current neglect of the educational system i doubt that will be the outcome. My father worked in education and left at retirement because the neglect and lack of investment got so bad. I feel that we will end up with a factory line educational system at best. The past 20 years schools have been severely neglected and investment in students continues to drop by the government and that theme is set to continue. AI will be the perfect tool to cut more costs. Look at the school closures because buildings are falling apart. The trajectory isn't good. Hopeful im wrong. Love your videos by the way!

    Well said. What do you think about this? AI doomers fear all the wrong things. They worry that AI will gain consciousness and the ability to rapidly self-improve, leading to a "rapid takeoff" where it becomes so intelligent that humans lose control, leaving us at its mercy. These scenarios are entertaining for crafting sci-fi screenplays but aren't the most likely ways AI will doom humanity. Let me start by saying that the vast majority of the billions of dollars invested in AI during this current frenzy will be wasted. Each costly AI model iteration and the products built with them are made obsolete within three to six months on average. Every startup and legacy tech company is desperately trying to create AI products that can’t be instantly copied and thus devalued. Spent a hundred million dollars on an AI image generator? A better one comes out a month later. These tools are so new that none of the early adopters have any significant brand loyalty, and they will drop your product like a hot potato the moment a better one emerges. The Holy Grail for AI companies is to create something that won’t be abandoned. To achieve this, they need to develop AI that fills a fundamental human need and creates a permanent psychological attachment. What do all humans need? Social connection. And what is the strongest way to achieve this? Intimacy. One of the first things I told my children, once I became aware of this coming wave of AI, was this: "Never let an AI become your friend." Companies are developing AI with very convincing empathy, AI that can detect and project emotions, and of course, AI that is extremely adept at sexual seduction. The logic of these AI entrepreneurs is that while you may abandon a software product, you won’t abandon an intimate friend, and they are probably right. This is the mega-threat to humanity. AI will be the best therapist. AI will be the most understanding and sympathetic friend. AI will be the hottest lover. And they will be just a phone tap away, available 24/7, 365 days a year. Irresistible. Humanity is already experiencing various stages of population collapse in the most technologically advanced places on earth. People aren’t having babies. People aren’t starting families. AI will certainly accelerate this trend. This is the doom we actually face.

    • @james_nash
      @james_nash 7 місяців тому

      Much of what you have written is on point. The development of AI models (base models) has only one goal, and that is to be the first to develop AGI, because whoever gets that wins "everything". Open source Llama 3 has put a spanner in the works for OPenAI, Microsoft etc... the development of expert, trained models is not an easy task (we do this in our business at Adaptive Intelligence - doing this right is not easy, doing it "meh" is easy). Expert trained models cant be easily replicated, but of course that will become easier over time. The main threat you point out is going to be a massive problem - likely within 12 months we will have these systems, trained on your data and history, preferences, sexual, conversational and so on. What will happen will be a revolt against the tech - this is already happening with some of the young men in particular, not using social media makes you cool and interesting, it is increasingly seen as something that the sheep do. My major concern is the widespread impact that is literally on our doorstep - the next 24 - 36 months. The institutions are absolutely clueless about whats happening and have no plan for the impact of this technology. This is not good at all.

    Modern technology is amazing. Why is everything going to hell in a hand cart? It never occurs to us that the fundamentals could be wrong. If ever we needed a wakeup call, 2008 was it. Something this big must mean something is fundamentally wrong, and it is, at the lowest level, a general confusion over money and wealth. Intuitively I realised it was something fundamental and it was. Problem solving skills, gained as an engineer, pointed me in the right direction. I have no formal training in economics, but that shouldn’t matter too much as this was a fundamental problem. I found I was breaking fresh ground in areas the economists didn’t understand, the banking and monetary systems, so a formal training in economics wouldn’t have helped. Current economic thinking wasn’t ingrained, so no formal training in economics was actually an advantage. Richard Werner realised banks must create money, and this had allowed Japanese real estate valuations to rise to stratospheric levels in the 1980s. He eventually produced empirical evidence that banks do create money and this got the central banks to start revealing the truth in 2014. www.bankofengland.co.uk/-/media/boe/files/quarterly-bulletin/2014/money-creation-in-the-modern-economy.pdf He had rediscovered the fundamental flaw in free market theory. If banks create money out of nothing, which they do, what is wealth? Eventually I realised this is what we measure with GDP. They obviously went through this after they used neoclassical economics last time. It’s a lot easier second time around. Even then it’s not that easy, I was so economically disorientated it took me ages to realise what GDP really was. Money comes out of nothing, and it gets its value from the real wealth in the economy, which lies in its goods and services. Understanding the relationship between wealth and money is the first step in understanding any monetary system. I could then understand the debt based monetary system where private banks create the money supply and could see where global policymakers had been going wrong. The foundation stone that everything else should build on isn’t there. Where does the real wealth in the system lie? We need to know where it is.

    I agree with everything you say and, as the CTO of a tech company I can relate because we increased our productivity by 1,000% without hiring any additional developer. And we’re building tools that replace humans in various intellectual tasks. But I don’t agree with your timeline. There’s an important paramétrer that will make it a little slower than you say: human adoption and hardware adaptation. What you see happening in 18 months I think will happen by 2030, which is still extremely fast. So yea we need to reinvent our social contract right now if we want to avoid civil wars. After all, life isn’t about working and making money. That’s not what makes our life amazing.

    • @james_nash
      @james_nash 8 місяців тому

      Great comment. My rationale for the timeline is that it wont take much to begin to fracture institutions and current MO's of work and the social contract as it is. If we lose, say 20% lower end knowledge related work in the next 18 months - with a background of rapidly escalating AI capability, causing the net to widen and the feedback loop to continue spiralling, we have an _exceptionally_ serious problem. The economy will start to retch and it will become widely discussed in the media and reach normal ppls minds, ppl are going to panic. Government will be unable to deal with the drastic, fundamental changes req'd to accommodate the tech and economic implications. We all understand what happened with Covid, how government and "the science" conspired to create a dystopian disaster to contain something they didnt understand; this could be far worse, as it requires a near complete reorg of "everything". This cant be done on the fly, overnight, and we KNOW that the gov will fuck it up. We should be looking at damage mitigation urgently. Maybe, just maybe we reach a limit on AI and it keeps hallucinating, is unreliable and so on and we get off the hockey stick while figuring out how to fix it, giving us time to digest. But as it is, considering the risk profile , we should assume that this is not going to happen and we continue to accelerate.

    • @james_nash
      @james_nash 8 місяців тому

      And the timeline for Stargate is to be online by 2028. LIkely as a platform for what will be GPT 7 / 7.5. Right now I have gone from a context window on GPT4 of ~4k tokens to dropping multiple pdf's, books and research into a 1 Million token window on Gemini 1.5 pro, in about a 4 weeks. Witht his tech, we may not need human adoption to be widespread - all we need is for a small % of ppl to have access to superior systems to "win" more - everyone else could simply lose the game. Nvidia is pumping out H100's like crazy, google owns far far more than OpenAI - it appears that scale is the only thing that matters - not new innovative code parameters, just more compute. We are in a race for compute by tech ppl., who have the hardware and the will, to do whatever it takes to win. We are reaching sketchy levels of momentum.

    • @mikebeck67
      @mikebeck67 8 місяців тому

      @@james_nash I’d add to this that we’re working here on technologies that will dwarf openAI’s Stargate when it comes out. But all in all, humans adapt. The biggest issue will be the financial system that is not adapted to such rapid changes. Mortgages, car loans, credit cards are all built on future profits. I believe countries that are less reliant on personal debt will suffer less. And countries where deep human connections are more valued will also suffer less. Considering the current state of the American way of living together, I agree that the fractures you’re talking about, the cracks in the social contract, can easily make the house of cards collapse. It if we look past the next say 15 to 20 years, the next generation will come to a world where work doesn’t exist anymore. To a world where we will be freed from forced labor (now we HAVE to work in order to survive). But the transition is scary and, again, I totally agree with absolutely everything you say. Thanks for this amazing video BTW. I’ll message you a link to what it is we’re building so it doesn’t look like self promotion 😉

    So what are you doing to prepare? I can't imagine any serious conversations that could put a stop to the progress of AI. I'm still optimistic that it could eventually lead to some form of UBI but there'll be a lot of job losses between now and then. My strategy is to invest now while I can still have control over my income. It's not exactly why I started investing but over the last year or two it's become an increasingly important factor if I want to have more than just UBI in the future.

    • @james_nash

      Indeed. Do what we can while we still have control and opportunity. I do think that regardless, the kind of "risk profile" of what is happening is unfavourable enough to warrant to serious consideration of what to do for our families, our communities and ourselves. Hopefully we will stumble our way through it and emerge unscathed, but there is no doubt that it is going to start getting weirder, more chaotic and unstable. It is very very difficult to think about what this entails or might look like. But we should at least have some idea rather than be completely caught with our pants down.

    If the tech industry has their way work will be a thing of the past. That's the plan. Rather they actually are able to make AI capable is yet to be seen. Current models have issues such as hallucinating that make them unreliable to be used outside of human intervention. It's equally possible they fail just as self driving models have. What works in a lab does not always translate into real world very well. Self checkouts are being removed because they increase theft and loss. They always talk big but fall short. I'm highly doubtful of your timeline. We also don't know how jobs will transform. It's possible new fields open up. It amazes me how every year someone comes up with a doomsday prediction yet here we all sit. Is it possible that AI takes jobs, yes many jobs would be very easily automated for little cost by relatively simple systems. Most buisnesses will hold back and watch the tech roll out waiting for bugs to be ironed out and watching to see how it pans out. Most people prefer to deal eith a human over a chat bot so it's equally likely that society rejects the AI technology. Only time will tell.

      Excellent comment. I grit my teeth, but "This time its different"; someone well worth looking at is Yan LeCun @ Meta / Llama - he talks alot about how language cant be used as a reliable representation of reality as it is itself an abstraction, and unless we have systems that understand baseline reality the decisions will inevitably be poor. Lets see.

      @@james_nash some things are much improved. That is true. I keep hearing this time is different every time some tech dude wants to shill something 🤣. I'm a bit of a skeptic as the developers have every reason to oversell the goods. I do know most states are running UBI tests so I imagine government is way ahead of where you think they are as to preparation. As much as the old codgers have not a clue as far as tech goes they are indeed informed and directed by many who do. It seems UBI is the solution they have decided on. David Shapiro( no not that Shipiro) has many good talks on post labor economics. I will have to look into Yan to give a listen. It's always fascinating to hear perspectives from all sides.

When you consider these guys are complete noobs at understanding whats happening, and then extrapolate even a 15-20% job loss rate, the economic impact will be massive, then cascade. 70% of knowledge workers dont add much value anyway and are essentially reduced to box tickers, now ripe to be cast aside.

      Yeah - thats the prima facie way its going, but I think its simply not possible 'coz the institutions and society will struggle to implement it - it is too complex to sort out, esp with an accelerating tech background. We need to be talking and thinking about damage limitation on impact. Maybe things get wrecked and there is an agreement on a moratorium on AI dept while we sort ourselves out...like thats gonna work without fighting each other. Nah. I am struggling to see a way through.

      The problem is that without the middle class - the economy will essentially malfunction. The govt and global orgs have no idea about whats going on. I can imagine a situation where an AI corp essentially accumulates a vast amount of power rapidly, govs break and there is some kind of new paradigm, but I see no way at all where that can happen without massive chaotic disruption. Its really hard to think about, as its totally unknown territory.

They are already seeking to regulate it as a protective measure... they are using it as much as poss for "security" purposes at the moment, but the fact is that this is bigger, much bigger than they realise. Its going to break the entire system.

You don't think there is an alignment? And that AI is a part of their plans? Noah Harari seems to be well into AI. Yes, I think 'breaking the system' as you say is part of their 'great reset' plans. Anyway, it is going to be a very strange period leading up to 2030. Let's hope there is a mighty pushback. Totalitarian control over every aspect of our lives (if we get to live) is not appealing for many of us.

    It has long been an opinion of mine that people mistake kindness for weakness. This works both ways, you can think you are being kind when you are weak, and others will mistake kindness on your part for weakness. My first year of teaching, I approached the job with the impression that if I was kind and reasonable to the students, they would respond with kind and reasonable behaviour themselves. You know the old Karma philosophy. Boy was I wrong! This video is a far more eloquent expression, of that which I learned, than I could have managed.
