    Wearing childishly colourful clothes seems to be mostly a generational thing. Except maybe for the ridiculous Hawaii shirts.

    Very blunt, can only speak on this as a 99p mr darcy-style english man, some points are very true, although i’m worried you may instead put the backs up of people with this opening. I hope they can see it in a way that is we all can look so super fresh in a gentlemanly dress; and it is kinda our heritage to look prim and proper as an english guy, so kinda makes sense, but also i believe in the mixing and matching of cultures, i can appreciate well-dressed street styles along with high quality tailoring, i use both, quite regularly!
    All in all, we should all be thinking about how we dress is another way of communicating your intentions, passions, and things you care about to the world, you can use them in your own benefit if you are wise enough.
    I hope i only showcased love and appreciation in my statement and thoughts, always fun to keep the discussion going! ❤

      Excellent comment, I too use both both styles and mix it up. The video is really targeted for younger guys in the audience who are kind of stuck in between and haven't yet figured this stuff out. First know the rules before you break the rules ;-)

    Perhaps leading by example is a good place to start. A v neck undershirt and and zipper cardigan doesn't really communicate the points you are complaining about. It seems like in prep for this video you might have put on a collard shirt like a grown up. Or perhaps in your prep for this video series, you should check out Kevin Samuels guides for how men should dress and present. People like clear, good examples. I look forward to seeing you up your game in future videos.

    I'm all for helping your fellow men to dress well but think of it this way: with every poorly dressed dummie out there, you've less competition for women, jobs and other opportunities. If you have a way to get ahead of the pack, best keep it to yourself, I think.
    All joking aside, I agree that our style reflects our character. But! if someone dresses better just because they've listened to your advice, they're still just following another's advice, even be it a better one which means that, character wise, they're still what you call "sheep". Personal style must come from within, it must come as a result of an inner decision, based on experience and a willingness to go your own way and know that it's the right path, even if everyone else is taking another.

      100% on the money. The point I was making is that there are foundational concepts to bear in mind, that then gets developed by the individual into their own particular style. The problem is that for many younger guys in their twenties they are starting from a position that is so poor, they end up casting around looking foolish, or not caring.

    ‘Thus, I think black is more suitable for garments, than any other colour is; and if is not black let it at least be somewhat dark.
    And this I say for ordinary attire, for there is no doubt that bright and cheerful colours are more suitable over armour and for gala use also dress might be fringed, showy and magnificent; likewise on public occasions, such as festival, shows, masquerades and the like."
    Baldassarre Castiglione The Book of the Courtier

      An excellent quote - that said, I am not a fan of black as much as midnight blue. In the USA, there is a Las Vegas type look with a black suit and a black shirt that I think looks far too "Hangover". To my mind, midnight blue is much classier and more individualistic.

    Good video.
    Its worth remembering that the vast majority of the flashy clothes you see in the UK on the idiots are probably fake. Or am I expected to believe that the guy with a low paid job has REALLY spunked £2K on a genuine Canada Goose Parka to hang out by McDonalds in?
    And the aforementioned kids spending £500 on a T shirt with an enormous logo on, could have spent that money on a half decent suit from suitsupply or similar, and had it tailored!

    Good stuff! Almost shockingly blunt but can't disagree with your points.
    Used quality clothes/shoes are great - take advantage of those who only wear their clothes a few times before moving on to something new.
    Look forward to the next videos.

    I was watching this thinking, "Yes, absolutely!" Then you lost me at the end with your montage. Are you target marketing your videos for men who make 6 figures, are 6 feet tall, and are at Ideal body weight? A bit farcical, innit?
    I can jump on Amazon and get a look that you have described (but not like your montage) and it won't put me in the poor house. Your'e not the first youtuber who are trying to help men dress decently (and I believe that you are helping), I just think you're aiming at the wrong demographics of men.
    Respectfully.

      Thanks for the feedback ;-). I wanted to give an idea of a simple masculine "Aesthetic" with the montage, rather than any overt suggestions. Firms like Massimo Dutti do greatly styled stuff for men, Hackett has loads of sales and eBay has absolutely loads of decent stuff. I will get around to making some clear suggestions in other videos.
      Re: bodyweight - A guy that is over or underweight has only himself to blame. Fortunately, this is "easy" to fix, I actually made a previous video on this here that you might like : ua-cam.com/video/jiXT3K10Js8/v-deo.html

    You claim that someone are dressed like an idiot but you refuse to realise who is getting robbed and beaten up in broad daylight because of stylish clothes.
    It aint me the idiot that noone notice when i escape that bad situation in a dark alley.

    • @james_nash
      @james_nash  Рік тому +3

      The point is that people shouldn't notice you for your clothes. The idiots getting robbed are often wearing flashy watches and clothes that are "Poor peoples lux": burberry, balenciaga and heavily branded. Also a little situational awareness and physical presence goes a long way; fit men are confident, aware, and not typically targeted. Phone addicted NPC's wearing $1k trainers are.

    ´Claiming that fashion is inherently female is complete nonsense. And especially annoying to hear from someone wearing a v-neck t-shirt.

    • @james_nash
      @james_nash  Рік тому +1

      V's give proportion to a muscular chest and shoulders. A v-neck is a stealth fighter, a crew neck is a Boeing 737. V-necks are stallions and crew necks, they are the donkeys of T style; steady but lacking in horsepower.

    Your idea of what a so-called high quality women seems, with all due respect, a little reductive as far as I can tell. A high quality anything doesn't, for obvious reasons, judge you on something as shallow as your clothes. Someone doing that is clearly neither deep, insightful nor particularly, shall we say, well read. Rather I'd expect someone like that to be struggling with profound insecurity and vanity issues which is why the expression of those kinds of values act as nothing but red flags. Back to the drawing board my friend 💛

    • @james_nash
      @james_nash  Рік тому

      Nonsense: __ "A high quality anything doesn't, for obvious reasons, judge you on something as shallow as your clothes". Its not _reductive_ at all, it is _additive_ , thats the point.

    • @suneasmussen2650
      @suneasmussen2650 Рік тому

      @@james_nash It would seem that you think you've somehow made an argument simply by saying 'no'. That's really sophisticated use of language and reason there brother. I'm almost convinced i feel 🤣.
      Furthermore, I could think of nothing less attractive than a woman being addicted to me because right in that very second I'd consider her a low quality woman. No longer any reason for me to strive to be the best version of myself because I'm with an easily hypnotized automaton. Come on dude. There is no free lunch here or anywhere else. No amount of suits and Lambos will ever attract anything but shallow, gold diggin' bimbos with very little self-insight and zero self-esteem. Get a personality instead - it's much more work, but it's the only way of attracting truly interesting people

    Talking about being consistent ...
    The "montage" has nothing that you can get cheap and used. Ferraries, Rolex watches, Mercedes Benz SL, no classic style, all the guys running around here are models for what ever overpriced stuff that.suits your fashion sensibilities.
    Don't get me wrong I can't stop laughing when I see those fashion victims but hey thats their choice to do ... Let them ... they will come around or not what does it matter to you?
