Can you elaborate on what was the kit you got from a local hydraulic repair facility?
It was not really a kit. I took all the old seals in, they measured them, and matched them to parts they had in stock. As you saw, mostly stock "0" rings, backup rings, and wiper seal. The piston seals were a set in a bag. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching.
Good stuff - always feels good to fix a leak that's been around for a while
Absolutely, Thomas. I hate it when stuff marks their spot!
Those inside U-cups can be a pain at times. I bought a cheap set of U-cup seal installers, they work GREAT. I did the same getting my parts from a local hydraulic shop, it saves a few $$. I just did 2 cylinders on mine a couple weeks ago. Great video 👍
Thank you! Yes, those inside u cup are so stiff you don't think you'll get them in and then they just pop into place. Having any nearby hydraulic, hardware, or go-to shop is a game changer. Thank you for watching.
Ya gotta love our local home hardware. If they dont have it, you don't need it👌
Yes, absolutely.!
Nice to see it done. My front axle seals lead intermittently. Have you done a segment on that work yet? I would be very interested in seeing that one. Thanks again. Doug
Thanks, Doug. The right one on my 855 leaks intermittently also. When I get fed up with the mess, I'll do a video on it.
@@cedarstoneestate I have the parts already, just haven't gotten the ambition to tear into it yet.
Don't let the front differential fluid get too low though. Good luck!
I rebuilt all the rams on my model 70 loader on my 755 tractor. The inside seal was a booger. Of course I didn’t realize that they make a tool that simplifies it.😂 Great video! Keep them coming.
Thank you! They do a bit on my Model 70 as well, but not worth doing them yet. Thank you for watching.
Thanks for the video therde. Give us a tour one time of your shop and tool set up if you think it won't invade your privacy.
Thanks, Glenn. It's a thought about the tour, which means I'd have to tidy up some though, lol.
I think you have something else going on. Those wipers should never see pump pressures. The oring you replaced under the wiper acts more as a backer/bushing than a seal. There has to be an actual seal captured down in the bore. Sometimes JD provides a part break down online. There is a slight possibility a bypass valve is sticking creating higher pressures than designed, but it looked like you were duplicating the problem at idle, and I didn't hear any engine strain from over pressurization. I'm not certain I would use low viscosity oil unless frequently started in sub zero temperatures. Zero chance I would pay JD prices for hydraulic oil. Harvest King or similar is more than adequate and meets spec.
Yes Shane, I do store it at below zero temps. I have shop manual and those 'O' rings are the seals. I did have an overpressure with the cross shaft draft control once which might have made it worse but the retainers were previously bent before that. I'm trying to make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks for the idea.
After they were bent and you straightened them they will keep bending because the steel have lost their temper
Could be. Although if you buy new lip seals from John Deere, they come as a set with a new hold down plate, which I suspect is thicker than original. My new plate is doing the same. Thank you very much for watching.
They have been work hardened. Every deformation causes them to resist additional deformation in the future. The opposite of tempering.
Good fix to add the thicker plate.
Glad you liked it.
Any information for the lip seals? Thank you for the update. I just got my model 7 a couple weeks ago. Haven’t been able to hook it up and use it yet. Hope to not have as many leaks and be able to use it. But I know that’s not reality😅
The wiper seals are 3/4" x 1". I'll try to post seal sizes in the next videos. Thanks for watching.
@@cedarstoneestateno thank you for the great content thank you! I still have to find some time to mount my 7 hoe on my 750. Hopefully no leaks but I know the cylinder will have issues. Thank you again.
Nice solution. I look forward to seeing the cylinder reseal projects. Thanks for another interesting video.
Thanks for watching Doug.
Nice fix. Slick and simple. 👌
Thanks! I thought it was a simple fix but it took way longer than expected.
Is your next project a demo derby car?
Do you have a donor car we could use and do I get to drive it?
Forrest gump would love to get his hands on that sweet machine👌
I can just see him toolin down the highway on this chewin out of a box of chocolates.! Thanks for watching in comenting!
My 855 uses two (2) air filters.
You are correct, you have the optional two stage filter housing like my 755. The outside one can be blown out periodically but not the inner. It should be replaced when it's dirty. Thanks for watching!
Help! Doing the test exactly like you did everything fine until I turn on the ignition. I don't get any voltage on the middle terminal or the top terminal like you did. Where does the yellow wire to that center terminal and the gray wire to the top terminal connect to? Are they connected to the ignition switch somewhere somehow? Fuses are ok.
Sorry for the delay in answering. White at top goes to plug at fuel shutoff solenoid. This is fused at top of panel 10A, controls fuel pump, shutoff solenoid also. Grey goes to light bulb in dash. This should not have power but resistance to ground if the bulb is good. Hope this helps
are you happy with Ancel vd700? want to buy something decent.
Have only used the service reset and parking brake caliper retract functions so far. Seems to be ok. I haven't used it for any serious codes, though. Thanks for watching.
Another new subscriber ! I love tinkering on my old JD 650 with the backhoe. I just picked up a Bolens G152 diesel to redo. It's rough but runs perfect.
Hey, thanks for subscribing and good luck reviving that old Bolens!
Nice job-doing it yourself/save some money and learn about your vehicle. Shows old school pride...
Thanks, Glenn. No shops in the area will touch it, and the dealer is over an hour away. They also charge $700 to do it!
Did i hear that right? 15,000km between oil change recommendation
Yes, that's the fixed setting if you're using the recommended oil. That's 9,300 miles. Would never go that far myself. My F150 recomends at 10,000 kms, which is still too much. I'll stick to once a year, about 3,000 to 4 000 km.
BENTLEY SERVICE INTERVALS Every 10,000 miles/12 months: Even if you don't use your Bentley as a daily driver, it is important to have your oil changed and tires rotated every 10,000 miles or 12 months. Depending on your driving habits, you may want to explore Bentley tire options to improve your Bentley tire's longevity and reliability.
@@cedarstoneestate thats crazy. Magic oil i suppose. Lol
thats crazy. if I had bentley or anything fancy I would for sure go for 8.000 km max.
I personally do it usually at 5,000 km on all my vehicles
Spencer needs to change some seals on our snowblower.
Good job for the young lad to learn on!
Got to have a really strong back and good balance to use that rake thing..
You're correct Glenn, very tiring and tedious. Hoping to get this pond where I don't have to do this anymore. Thanks again for watching.
Just put a jetski in the pond. If you don’t want to ride it and get wet then just turn the idle up let it run in there for. A bit and it will air rate the water plenty.
Haha, yes, that would be fun! Definitely would churn the water up.
@cedarstoneestate I am planning on buying one of these 7 backhoe attachments for my JD750 20hp tractor. Would you say it’s strong enough to do everything you need? I’m west coast and man out ground is hard here unlike the east. Lots of rock too. I just worry more about is it even strong enough to trench. I’ll definitely need it for the jobs I have planned and projects but if it’s a waste for the price he wants for it I may just go another route. Great videos thank you!
I haven't used it much yet. Our soil here is mostly clay, so it'll give it a challenge, I'm sure. I plan on posting some videos of it working soon. Thanks for watching!
If you do get it, dont forget you need the power beyond kit to access the hydraulics on your 750
Great job, sorry to hear that you had to drive home from Florida with no a/c.
Wasn't too bad, had the windows open like we did as kids, lol. Thank you for watching!
Can you be aggressive and 2 jet pumps ,one at each end of the pond to keep the water moving against each other. Keep in mind I know nothing about ponds or pools .
You could, you would aim them into the air, not sure if it would be as effective though as the fountain or as pretty. The bubblers and the fountain are intended to produce very tiny bubbles so that oxygen is absorbed into the water. The fountain at the top, which is also a feature and the bubblers from the bottom. Good idea, though, and thank you for watching.
Gotta love those plastic gears. Was the door jammed up at all to have caused that?
No, I worried about that as well but it was totally free. Thanks for watching!
Good job replacing the blend door actuator.
Thank you!

Having problems getting the stud on the bottom to back out do I use two bolts or one?
I was lucky the one nut stuck enough to turn the stud out. I thought I was going to have to lock 2 nuts together . It sounds like you'll have to jam 2 nuts together to get it yours out.
@@cedarstoneestate I used two nutes
Perfect!
Great repair! Getting the seals from your local hydraulic shop sure saved a lot of money.
Yes, it sure did! I'm sure he cut me a deal as we were chatting quite a bit about his drag car in the shop.
The backhoe looks great. Paint the bucket black. Seems like the red cylinder (Princess Auto?) has a little bit shorter stroke than the original, the dipper stick doesn't retract in as much leaving the gap between the stopper under the dipper stick and the boom, this prevents the dipper stick from folding in a little tighter when not in use.
Thanks, and yes, it's an inch shorter than it should be. Good eye! I'll try to get a proper one, but meanwhile, it works fine. Thanks again for watching.
You must have been a John Deere Mechanic in another life, you made it look too easy!
Thank you, but it is pretty easy. Thanks for watching!
When you are re-installing those wipers and o rings-do you use oil or vasoline on them as you put them back??
I didn't here. Wouldn't hurt. If I had the spool out to replace internal o rings, I would oil the spool before installing it. Thanks Glenn!
Right here-watchhing ur next video.
Thanks for watching Glenn!
An oil free shop floor is priceless.
Absolutely sir! Thanks for watching!
Great job keep it up, thx.
Thanks, will do!
That loader supply hose under the seat is supposed to be a line. I inherited the same flex replacement when I bought mine. I just replaced it with a new correct hard line. I think it cast $95.
Yes, you're correct about the line. I had to adjust it to keep it from binding. Many hoses, lines have been replaced. Look at all the different lines at the control valve. Thank you for watching!
Florescent pink🤣. That little deere has come a long way. Looks awesome.
Thanks 👍 It's a work in progress.
Awesome find!!
Thanks! Yes it was!
Green on teh b/h bucket. You should be able to out source those o rings/seals on that control panel from a good hydraulic shop. Make tat a video.
Yes, Glenn, I'll definitely do that! Thanks again for watching! 6 for black 1 for rust 1 for green 1 for florescent pink, lol.
Good informative video. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Fluorescent PINK!
Sure 6 for black 1 for rust 1 for fluorescent pink!
Machine is coming together nicely, keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do! Thank you for watching.
Black
Thank you! 6 for black 1 for rust
If it was mine i would paint it black. My tractor bucket is black as well.
Thank you! 5 for black 1 for rust!
Bucket black. Mine is. You are missing a pin for the top link. It will make the link solid, eliminating the tendency to hinge. My bucket/dipper pivot pin is frozen to the dipper. Not sure of a good course of action to fix that. I thought about heating the dipper with a rosebud to break it loose.
Thanks for the tip about the top link. I thought something was missing there. Yes, probably heating or rig up hydraulic jack to push it out forcefully. Either way, won't be pretty, lol.
Great video, leave it rust, have you tried copper sulfate on the algae . I have been successful with my steering column rebuild, had to remove it so went thru it.
I'm glad you're doing it right. Yes, I have tried it, but only cures symptoms, not the cause. It's very expensive also, but thanks for the input.
Paint it black and don't look back👍. Looks like a ton of work ahead for thd little hoe. Lookin forward to the next vid.
That's 3 for black!
