Wow. You actually have such a good oolong tea from Wuyixing. Very good.
We need more vidsssss
Your cups will be affecting the texture flavour and aroma
Hey Mathew! I really enjoy your videos, come back! I just love your comments on tea.
12 tea a day was overkill, he’s done with the videos😂
What kettle are you using please?
Looks like a Fellow Stagg
Loved the concise form here even if it wrecked you
But how does it compare to Bigelow and Stash is it even worth it or is it all in the package.
Cool experiment! 💗 I'm just getting to know the gongfu method of brewing tea and bought myself a gaiwan last Friday. When you pour the tea from gaiwan to the pitcher, will you use some kind of tea strainer to prevent small tea leaves from getting into the pitcher? I also just brewed some cheapish pu'erh I bought a couple of years ago. The first time I brewed it back then, I used the Western method of brewing (i.e. fewer leaves, more time to brew) and really hated the tea. Now that I used the gongfu method (lots of leaves, quick brew), the tea is drinkable although I still don't love it. Maybe some more expensive pu'erh might taste better?
I can see why you are kinda refering to this as a tisane (herbal) but if it's camelia sinensis it's arguably actually tea; alternatively strickly speaking Yerba mate and Yaupon are caffienated tisanes. Some people are making tea from ornamental Camelias; tea aligned tisane? Certainly very early buds on ornamentals can have a white tea type flavour when chewed off the bush. I presume tea flowers would be pretty low in caffiene. Interestingly Citrus produce caffiene in their flowers to reward bees which is a interesting twist on the over simplistic idea that caffiene is biosynthesised as pest control (which it also does).
Far too little attention is paid to the dosing of teabags - part of the reason American enthuse about UK tea bags is apart from better quality is way higher dose per bag > ususally UK tea bags are 2,5-3g per unit - Liptons I think is 2g and Bigelow even less - with green and other teas they can really skimp on dosage - I guess esp. with the mass market the lower dose green reduces bitterness and games the caffiene since the expect green tea to be 'low caffiene'.
Not tried Mei Leafs but been disappointed with the Xin Juan oolongs (I sort of associate 'milk oolong' with the flavoured TGY stuff) I have tried but loved a Xin Juan green tea which was surprisingly oolong like
Your right; I've avoided PuErh for about 10 years but thought I should try again and LM sounded like about the best introduction or likely candidate to try and enjoy this catagory of tea. I enjoyed it and sort of started to crave it a bit but not sure I'd invest in a whole cake and since this seems a non typical PuErh I won't likely risk wasting money on further PuErhs when their are other catagories of tea I'm passionate about
Youve cracked it dude, Just what I need. A cute lady to taste my teas before I do for quality purposes 😂😂😂
Microplastics !!
Thank you so much!
You messed up the whole test doing different temps and brew times for different cups. Should have kept the temp and time the same for all .
Just discovered your channel and there are some great videos! Hope to see some more soon! I'd like to see some more reviews of the more famous tea supplier channels' teas like Mei leaf and Nannuoshan. It's nice to get second opinions on flavor notes and preferences to compare and contrast. Hope you're doing well!
I love all your videos but that takes the cake. Absolutely precious. Wonder how 1st grade went
Can I drink matcha tea at night or is it just for the morning? I just purchased the Rishi matcha green tea box.
I tried going back to tea bags after gongfu cha and its like walking compared to driving a car. Totally different experience. I found that i would rather wait to go home and drink tea via gong fu set up than drink restaurant tea
I have the Luminary Misfit,. From my experience I can say that it is very good young sheng. The tea has nice texture and mouthfeel, but the most I appreciate the complexity of the aroma.
That tea is incredibly fruity, definitely a favorite of mine.
where you hiding mate, been a while
Why do they keep brewing the bad tea? 😭
yunnan sourcing offers a white tea cake that has tea flowers in it. Very tasty!
How long are suppose to leave the bag in hot water... and can you leave it longer?
it says it on the box 🤦♂️
The House Roast Mayer's Alishan Milk Oolong iz $22USD for100 grams on January 1st it is available in Light or medium roast.
People spend 80% of their time sniffing and talking about tea and very little time drinking it. Can we all admit that tea tastes like scented water.
Soda tast like chemical water😂
I'm not a fan of stevia.
Yooo so whats your top three wuyi oologns and their brands.
Yoooooo
How does it compare to the Amber wuyi oolong
Everything ok with you guys? Would love to see a new video soon!
Second this, hope everything is okay with them.
Everything is great! Life is full at the moment. Hope to be back soon though!
@@tearush great to hear, be safe!
@@tearush Excellent! Looking forward to it!
Hi, may i know what water temperature you used?
I started drinking Puerh tea today, its amazing, great energy from it. It is from Jeju Island in South Korea, and tastes great and smooth, no bitterness. It is around 20 USD for 100 grams. I brew mine for many minutes, like it strong. Cheers. Thanks for the redemption video.
Pu erh tea from where ? 😂 Pu erh tea should come from Yunnan (or Laos). What you have called out is for excellent green tea, but I doubt they have the big leaf tea trees to make pu erh of.
@@predatorofthehaters4987 Balhyocha - a dark tea which is technically in the same category as pu erh, but with unique Korean twist. Tastes awesome like no other tea. There's another unique dark tea called Goishicha from Japan, pressed into bricks, also technically can be called pu erh and it's amazing in its own unique way. But yeah, I wouldn't compare both to classic Chinese stuff and call it 'I started drinking Puerh tea today'.
@@smashexentertainment676 Theres only one Puer. The rest are just fermented teas
@@domplma hence why I didn't call it pu erh, I said it's technically in the same category.
What kind of kettle is that?
Hi @tearush, when can we look forward to a new video? :)
Completely useless video. You could see little looking at the lump of tea inside the cup. Looked too green for second grade tea. Was probably a third grade tea.
Hi there, great tea couple you guys!! Just one small request from me, could you please do a video on the best Sencha or Sincha (sry if I’m spelling wrong, I mean the first harvest of Sencha). Thanks in advance 😊
A nice couple drinking a nice couple of tea. if this isn't wonderful (nice) what is? :D
More Mountain Stream teas plz
Iv'e only tried the regular Jade Arrow and the mouthfeel is incredible. Very thick, soft and velvety.
I had the ulalov for almost a couple years and just got the ekg. I was fairly happy with it but started rusting and having the issue where it is not sensing the kettle. It tends to overshoot the temperature but worked fine. The pour was nice too. The EkG has been much better holding the temp exactly as you want. I really dont like the restricted pour and in the last couple days havent figured out how to pour with it without straining my wrist. Not being able to alter the pour speed seems to be affecting my coffee flavor (using a hario v60).
Not to come off as rude or ignorant but isn't that a bit too much tea? Or did you put that much tea just to show the color and to be able to describe taste better? 😅
😂 It's never too much tea! Ok, sometimes it is, but that looks about normal. I usually start at about 5 grams per 100 ml. Definitely a lot for a Western style brew, but for gong fu cha it's pretty normal.
Also, with those Taiwanese oolongs it's pretty difficult to over brew them. Takes a lot before they get bitter.
Looked like 8 or 9 grams. Nothing too crazy for Gong Fu.
Drink too much of that last one and you start pooping silk I'm pretty sure 😅
Even though this is not a current video: I just saw it, and wanted to say thank you. From the teas of your list, I only know Luminary Misfit (which I also like a lot). Your description made me directly order a cake of the Fortune Teller. Already looking forward to try that one!
Nice! This comment inspired me to do a fortune teller session today. So good.
@@tearush So, the cake arrived today - and I directly had to try it. It's interesting (which I mean in a good way). So far, I mostly had young raw, or cooked puerh. This one - let's call it semi-aged - already feels a bit like a shou, but only a bit, some "raw" taste still shines through. I like that mixture. The first 1-2 steeps were super smooth. Then I got a bit too bold, I guess, and brewed it for too long - yes, there's the bitterness of a raw puerh. Thanks for the recommendation.
@@kail9757 May I ask how you feel about Fortune Teller now that a little time has passed? I’m in a similar situation, only had some relatively young Shengs and a few Shous, but all in all I’d say that I am still inexperienced when it comes to PuErh in general.
@@Trojanischer_Esel Short answer would be: I quite like it. Frankly, I'm not as hyped as the review in the video, but I definitely don't regret buying the cake. I re-read my first impression from the comment above, and to me it's still accurate: You can get some bitterness if you oversteep it, but if you don't, it's super smooth, and not as "green" tasting as a young Sheng PuErh: You get a sense of a bit of ageing, which made the tea rounder, more "calm" and quite approachable, and which I enjoy. It might not be the fruitiest nor the most exciting Sheng out there; but it's an easy-drinker, and a nice introduction to "semi-aged (or, slightly aged, if you want) Sheng", not as "raw" as a fresh Sheng anymore, yet totally different from a Shou. The white2tea description "perfect combination of affordability and age for daily drinking" fits very well.
@@kail9757 Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply in such a detailed way, really appreciate it! This actually sounds pretty good, I like the idea of a more rounded, calm and easy drinking Sheng, even if it’s not the most exciting. Definitely going to buy a 25g pack or maybe even a whole cake with my next white2tea order.
U guys suc
Hahaha. “Maileaf” and “real premium stuff” dosn’t really match.
How can you tell ? I'm not gonna argue...I'm just interested on how you got to that opinion!? :) Currently thinking alot about a good place to get Tea from and I thought they might be a good one ? :o
Great video, thx!
