It’s a really good point. I think the initial goal of making art is to make art - not necessarily to sell it. If it does sell, the collector is made aware of the materials and its quality. Similar with collage work, at its core it’s generally all found materials and not archival. Good food for thought tho! :) thanks for watching!

High quality house paint is pretty stable, especially exterior paint. I think it will last pretty well compared to mid-range acrylics (certainly some decades). Some professional artists use house paint. And I agree with OP about collage - I never use magazine pages because they're poor quality paper and inks. Jessica did mention that Pollock used house paint. His stuff in MOMA seems to be holding up.

@@lobstermash Pollock’s use of house paint has caused all sorts of problems in his work - fading, chipping etc. it’s often quoted as an example of why you shouldn’t use house paint!
