I filmed this video a few months ago after we bought the place. We will be doing some major improvements this coming spring and summer so stay tuned!
Does Starlink work in the Arctic Circle?
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
Starlink could be revolutionary for remote areas like the arctic or antarctic regions, but does it actually work as advertised? Update: Not mentioned in the video is the speeds we are actually getting, which range from 20mbps at the lowest to 180mbps, and are hitting the 130-150 mbps average that we were expecting.
Fishing for the Biggest Arctic Char on Earth
Переглядів 32 тис.2 роки тому
Some of the largest arctic char on earth can be found around Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, with multiple world record catches occurring in the area over the years. Fishing with Kakivaks, which are traditional Inuit fishing spears, is also practiced here and is still very effective even when compared with modern rod fishing techniques.

Update for curiosity please
That Char flesh is rich in calories and fat. Fight hard too. 😊😊😊
They need more satellites
How do you have a channel with these speeds! 😂
When is the constellation finished ?
Just came across the video as i was interested in Internet connection there. Has there been any difference in a year?
Great video very well made
Would you be willing to rent out the cabin for a week? I have or used to have friends in Cambridge and lived in Yellowknife for fifty years and want to come up to fly fish for Char. Let me know when you get a chance.

I am an arctic char-aholic!! Here in ICELAND we have both the sea run and the lake version. We rarely get any bigger than 5 to 8 pounds but I would love to come and fish at your place. Just wondering.... would a switch rod jot be perfect up there?
Looks really exciting!! Have you guys started to operate or are you still working on it? Greetings from ICELAND 🇮🇸
You should post an update video.
Ive caught a few 20-25 lb's over the years along Koztebue Sound's shore, but 32 lbs? I think for Alaska we go a few more miles north toe the Wulik River that emptys into the Kivalina Lagoon, by Kivalina village and a 29 pounder was caught up there..... wow, 32 lbs!
takua naniuit maqaivingit?
We need more videos.
my mans needed some help. Still managed tho so good stuff homie
time for a update.
time for a update
Amazing footage
New subscriber here. Amazing video. I'm planning to visit the tree river around August 15. Any recommendations for which lures to run?
I have a question. How do you charge your electronics while expedition? Solar panel?
I'm so jealous! Thank you for sharing it's beautiful.
I moved to Iqaluit in January. I was really looking forward to the river opening and fishing up here but I got a job back home. Going to need to make a trip back I guess!
Do you think a large UHMW toboggan would be better then the Komotic
The plastic would of certainly finnished on the ice road we would of still had to drive up close to the end of the road for sure
Why did you removed the skid to replaced the slid
We had to change the plastic runners on amorys rails they were 98% toast there was a spot that has a mm or 2 from bare aluminum.
In the arctic area, is it face the north or south?
North. Antarctic is south. An- means opposite, eg antonym.
Those char can really fight too.
Best char video on youtube. . No drama sounds Orr music. Superb narrating
Thank you for the video. Information I'm looking for. I'm going to be in the North all summer and I'm looking at traveling with one of these. I hit all your buttons. Checked me out.
this looks like a 200k+ yt quality vid
Really well shot and narrated
greeting from Jamaica
deserves more subs actual effort
Elon musk should have invested in fiber optics instead of this unreliable $hi* 😆
Peace from up north above the arctic
nice cuffs on the old CG!
I'm curious about polar bears
There are lots! Need to be cautious. Depending on the community there can be more or less risk. For example in Cambridge Bay there aren't many around
Dammm you round earth
I was always under the impression it was just pitch black 24-7 that time a year.
Nope! I think of you head further north you'd get a few days that are pitch black but we always get at least a glow on the horizon.
@AmorioWoods You learn something new everyday.
That's awesome, wont be long before you're able to play CS:GO all day long competitively.
Nice video, loved the tour of the town
Spring and summer it' sunny all the way overnight 😎
Love the spring especially when there is still snow but 24hr daylight!
Best wishes from Pakistan 🇵🇰🙏😊
Awesome Video
Thanks!
Hello from Hungary. I'm just wondering how people heat their homes there. As far as I know there are no trees in that region to use them as fuel.
All oil fired boilers. The fuel ship comes in once a year and fuel is stored at a tank farm and delivered to individual tanks at each home every few weeks
Who are you? What do you do for work? How tall are you? Please state your gender?
You're good at asking rude questions, aren't you?
Love past experiences from Cam Bay and enjoying your content too. Looked like a younger bear? Quite the sighting, adrenaline must have been pumping. Good stuff and, good luck with the cabins. I'd like to come hang out there and fish with ya.
short answer: yes, if you live in alaska you will be fine, for a mysterious reason elon musk saw it fit to prefer his kinsmen over other customers. when you look at the coverage-maps. Us 2nd class customers in the rest of the actic cirle ... canada, northern europe has been widely ignored by their sattelite coverage so far. We are allowed to pay for the interrupted service though. As it stands i cant use it for anything yet - i cant use it for work if i am kicked out of meetings and server-shells randomly, i also dont think i gonna watch movies with constant interruptions. Perhaps i can kick off a download - but that would mean the downloading machine would have to be switched to starlink wifi, and cannot be used for anything at the time that requires a modicum of reliability. I can deal with that for a short time - although i wonder why they release the sale to regions that are obviously not covered yet. Do they want bad reviews, is that it? However, there is hope they will increase densite in the future. so i am not suing them yet. Greetings from finland
I have heard it's a similar issue in alaska. For me, streaming movies in HD or 4k is no problem at all as it's fast enough to buffer beyond where a short service interruption will cause the movie to stop. I think for zoom meetings it's probably not reliable enough yet here.
So interesting! What do you do for work that makes you travel out there
I live in Cambridge Bay which is not much bigger than the the community I traveled to in the video. I work as a construction project manager.
