Annette Hennessy 260624 Stands Firm Against Roger Whitfield who Omits Facts About Paul Gardner.
Переглядів 53Місяць тому
In this video Roger Whitfield has no thought to ask Cllr Emma Blackmore if she is alright. His thoughts are only of defending the abusive behaviour of 0 Portishead Independent Political Party Leader Paul Gardner at the Residents’ Meeting with whom he hijacked that meeting. David Gunnell is seen checking on Emma Blackmore but regrettably wasn’t seen reprimanding Roger Whitfield at any of the pre...

Of course we know that the whole debacle over the Portishead Residents’ Annual Meeting followed the Extraordinary Meetings, which saw the resignations of the excellent Cllrs Ben Aldridge and Paul Churchill, which was caused by bullying and harassment towards them by their Portishead Independent Political Party colleagues and party leader. I have had to think carefully about whether to show this video from the 26th June 2024, Portishead Town Council Community Matters Meeting. It concerned of course the hijacked Portishead Residents’ Annual Meeting and Roger Whitfield’s refusal to let residents speak about that meeting afterwards at town council meetings. As demonstrated at the full town council meeting of the 19th June when two r...

Annette Hennessy Town Council 260624 Ensuring Meetings Welcome Residents, Yet Another Survey & Bins

This video is self explanatory. Why on earth are residents paying for yet another expensive survey, twice, through NSC council tax and PTC council precept when they haven’t seen outcomes from previous consultations? The Portishead Residents’ Annual Meeting (PRAM) was nothing to do with Purdah. Portishead Town Council 260624 Wasting Money on More Resident Surveys

This item from the Community Matters Meeting confused me because the Portishead Independent Political Party controlled town council and North Somerset District Council have BOTH already undertaken consultation surveys on Portishead Lake Grounds. This lady also speaks for an awful lot of Portishead residents. The Portishead Residents meeting was hijacked. The residents have not been listened to, and when the opportunity presented itself to rectify the situation, the chairman imposed his hubris onto the residents of Portishead and failed to permit previously successful annual Resident meeting events. Prior to Mr Whitfield's tenure this meeting was chaired by an independent chair and was very well received by all those who provided feedback. Well done Paul Maltby.

      Martyn, I just supported it for many years. The hard work came from the Portishead Skatepark Project who took the idea forward but were eventually blocked politically despite gaining planning permission on appeal. Portishead WASP then tried again when the main political obstructors lost their seats in the district council in 2019 and not only did the district council then give planning permission and landlord’s consent, they donated £50,000 as well. I have no positive words for the original obstructor in North Somerset Council who was a town and district councillor and sat on the NSC Executive. I was not the only person to spend many midnight hours requesting and assessing Freedom of Information documentation, the findings of which you would not believe. His deceit bit him hard when he lost his seat and fortunately the truth and facts won the day. Perseverance and dedication achieved the dream and despite some current councillors taking credit for the work of others, and many wheels users growing older whilst the political games played out, now those adult wheels users can use it along with their children and grandchildren. Enjoy it.

    You imagine taking on a lease of a failing golf course with the intention of improving it, investing hundreds of thousands of pounds so it might become successful & sustainable long term as well as employing staff to maintain it only to be told after you were given the lease that you now have to allow dog walkers & ramblers to roam across it. The potential risks of being hit by a golf ball are huge, insurance to cover potential injury would be astronomical if at all possible to get & make the whole project unviable. If I were the lease holder I would have sued Portishead council for the time & monies already wasted.

    I'm afraid you're very much mistaken if you think that Ken is due an apology. I was there when the incident in question occurred. Tanya greeted Ken in a very friendly manner and asked him how he was, knowing that he'd been ill. His response was to launch straight into a tirade about Portishead Town Council, during which he made repeated accusations about Tanya and her fellow councillors. His behaviour was extremely rude, and Tanya was quite upset by the confrontation. She was also contacted by a neighbour shortly afterwards to check she was ok, as her children had also witnessed it and had told their mum that "a man was shouting at Tanya in the street". I'll be generous and say that Ken has misremembered what happened, but he is in no shape or form due an apology. In fact, I would say that you owe Tanya an apology for repeating the accusation that she has defamed him and abused his character. Alternatively, you may wish to remove your video and post. Your choice.

    • @AnnetteHennessy1
      @AnnetteHennessy1 2 роки тому

      Ian, as Tanya Slatter’s husband, you were not at the appalling town council meeting when Mr Smith was defamed and abused with false accusations repeated by town councillors that Tanya Slatter had been reduced to tears in the street. Mr Smith claims this did not happen. I believe Mr Smith who is very respected and I have no reason to believe his recollection is incorrect. The apology that is due to Mr Smith is for the terrible attack on his character in that meeting without Tanya Slatter correcting her colleagues, telling the truth and stopping the cowardly attack on a senior citizen with a medical condition. So yes Mr Smith is owed an apology. Watch the videos previously posted and I would question why you are getting involved now when this happened last year. Perhaps your recollection is now skewed after such a long time. I am not interested in he said, she said. I am interested in residents in Portishead being verbally abused in public meetings by councillors who could have managed the matter in an alternative way. That is what I witnessed and I was astounded at the attack on Mr Smith. The video and comments stand.

    Sorry to hear of the incident that left you injured. We always used to say if the appalling things we have seen in the past Portishead Town Council go on here in a snall town, what even worse things must go on elsewhere especially in London. Fortunately since this video, our town’s residents voted out every single Portishead Tory town and district councillor and instead voted in Portishead Independents to form a new town council with 12 Independents and 2 Liberal Democrat’s. Meetings are pleasant and people are treated with courtesy. A refreshing change. So far no lies and we have a new open, honest and transparent council. Best wishes to you and good luck.

If we could join together we could find like minds, warm approval, useful facts, and access to resources. We'd then begin to see the theory of democracy emerge into practice - because there are far more of us than there are of them. I will subscribe to you channel. If you'd like to join me in finding ways for us all to act collectively, then please subscribe to my channel too (it's brand new and currently mostly empty). @stiffybristol - do I sense a bit of tongue in your cheek backlash against those who saved the land for Portishead from inert landfill? With any luck there will eventually be a skatepark at Kilkenny fields or Lake Grounds.

    • @stiffybristol
      @stiffybristol 6 років тому

      No tongue in cheek but naturally annoyed that they stopped it from being a great 9 hole golf course that would have been sustainable and so far we have lost £110,000 on the project. You may be right about the eventual site for a skateboard park but we did include it in the new proposal along with other attractions for the Under 18s. Portishead Golf For All Ltd surrendered the lease on April 3rd, NSDC rejected the surrender and suggested that we come up with other uses for the land. They have been considering it for a few weeks now.

    • @AnnetteHennessy1
      @AnnetteHennessy1 6 років тому

      stiffybristol Where has £110k gone because it certainly wasn’t on publicity. It was once a great golf course and could have been again but even locals thought it looked closed most of the time. One cheap sign on Nore Road was never going to bring in the punters. I am speaking as someone who wants it retained for golf but admire also the courage of two local ladies who wanted the land and footpaths protected from development. May I ask if you have relinquished the lease? If not, then do you not have a responsibility to maintain the land? It looks pretty dire although great for wildlife. If you have not relinquished the lease, then perhaps you should to allow the land to be transferred.

    • @stiffybristol
      @stiffybristol 6 років тому

      Wages for 3 years, machinery costs, fuel, planning costs and the £24,000 to buy the lease/company of Mr Watkins (he spent £42,000).Very little was spent on marketing (£1200) and there is a very good reason for that, the golf course was not good enough and never going to succeed without a good make over so there was no point in promoting something that you know is not going to work as it is/was. It was never a great golf course that is why it closed so many times. The views from Portishead golf course are fantastic but the steep slopes make golf unpleasant, we needed to address that with construction to make it less steep. When we got involved and bought the lease/company from Roddy Watkins our intention was to make it much better and we spoke to NSDC about our plans and submitted them and as you know obtained consent. There was nothing sinister in what we were doing but the two local ladies painted a bleak picture fueled by a barrage of untruths. There was no intention to turn it into a rubbish tip. Soil and Stone from fields and foundations were going to be used to build the new greens. I have designed and/or built over 30 golf courses mainly in the UK and never ran off with money. We have been forced into surrendering the lease due to a significant breach of that lease caused by NSDC due to the new footpaths that run North-South and East-West that disect the land in two. Our dreams for making an outstanding 9 hole course can now not be. NSDC have not accepted the surrender and we are in talks about other land uses.

  • @AnnetteHennessy1
    @AnnetteHennessy1 6 років тому

    Are you putting yourself forward Stu? If not, isn’t it better for Portishead Town Council to take over land completely to safeguard the land for the future as Ann Townsend suggests?

    • @stiffybristol
      @stiffybristol 6 років тому

      We have been in talks with NSDC about using the land for a skateboard park, pirate golf, putting course, soft play areas, adventure assault course, large clubhouse, sat in that first field (where the 2nd green was) for music, barbecues, in the second field a 200 pitch caravan and glamping park. Flat land at the bottom to be retained as open ground.

  • @rasputinsdayoff
    @rasputinsdayoff 6 років тому

    What Mr. Cross is suggesting is unfair. That it's up to the lessee to maintain the land as an open space and not a golf course at the lessee's expense, even though the lease agreement was for a golf course. Mr Stiff also is living up to his name and at present is failing to compromise on the future of the land. What he was doing at the end of last summer was maintaining the land to a very nice standard. Many dog walkers appreciated the stroll on the cut fairways. Not like this summer. I've barely seen anyone trudging through the long grass. Great for wildlife I'm sure, butterflies and bugs. It's only fair that if it is preferred as an unkept meadow then Mr Stiff should have the lease forfeited, the same as if it should be maintained to some degree but not as much as what was intended when the lease was agreed. I still think there may be some middle ground where we can enjoy the land as a golf course as it has been for over a hundred years albeit a pitch and putt as it has been in the last few decades with respected rights of ways. A trust perhaps? It worked with the pool and this would be a doddle in comparison.

    • @stiffybristol
      @stiffybristol 6 років тому

      Yes very unfair from Mr Cross in the video to suggest that we should be made to cut the grass when we have had the golf course stopped but I expect Mr Cross does not understand the full story. The breach of lease is with NSDC as the land can't be used anymore for the 9 hole golf course that we obtained permission because of the heath and safety of the footpath walkers on the new permitted paths. The Public Liability insurance is now very expensive with huge penalties and excess. Clearly you can't have walkers on the fairways and golf balls being hit that are invisible because of hedges or low ground.

    He had three apologies to make. One to Mr Mock for previous inappropriate disclosures of personal information, one to the public for not telling the truth and one to the public and Mr Mock for his use of inappropriate language. Takes a big person to apologise which Mr Burden is sadly not.

    Shame on Mr. Burden for not apologising to the public at the meeting.
