Great video! Thanks for doing the research and sharing so much valuable information. I've been watching this project develop over the last few years and was hoping for a great green space like Vancouver's Stanley park. It's so disappointing that they almost doubled the units they plan to build on Villiers Island. Good comparison to Liberty village.... Looks like they're building Liberty Village East

Great commentary and coverage of the port lands. Government definition of affordable housing is really subsidized housing. Affordable housing is not overpriced shoeboxes built on expensive waterfront but in mature suburbs accessible by efficient public transportation.

I very much enjoyed the tour of the East Bayfront. I hope the powers that be can allow this area to live up to its potential. You're probably the last person I should suggest this to, but I would love to see someone explore some of the older neighbourhoods that will very soon disappear and be but a memory, due to demolition and redevelopment into new highrise structures. It's a growing list so it wouldn't be difficult to locate them.

We have a housing crisis because the prices of these for sale condos are unaffordable and the home owners are waiting for a magical rebound that won't happen and don't lower the cost

When we bring in 1 million people every year. You need to build a city the size of Edmonton able to house 981k ppl every year. With the resources and infrastructure for that available. Immigration is totally out of control to our ability to handle it

Imagine paying north of $1MM for a corner unit and then buying a $500 sofa and table from the Brick or Ashley. Nothing says you're in over your head like the furnishings here.

So all this discussion about how the waterfront is separated by condos and not best used by the city, then we do this? It looks like a complete failure. Liberty Village wraps our whole waterfront now. The housing issue should NOT be solved by downtown Toronto. We are Canada. We insist on bringing in half a million people into Canada, where the vast majority move to Toronto, expecting downtown real-estate that hasn't happened in decades. That is insanity. Barrie, on the GO train line, isn't even adopted for solving any of this. Stop bringing people to Toronto. And as of last week, the new Commissioners west to Cherry, is already backed up. Seriously backed up. Planners should stop thinking forcing citizens into traffic, will get them into the TTC to make it profitable. "Fishing and canoeing" is not an industry.

Unfortunately the condo sprawl planned for this area will offer nothing for Toronto, other than more traffic and faceless masses. Charmless and ugly, the same as what happened to the Spadina corridor.

Absolutely love this area, our dream is to get in there at some point, although now that we finally can afford it, the inventory is super low. Fingers crossed we find a home there one day!

OMG THESE UNITS ARE STUNNING

The history of Cabbagetown in the latter half of the 20th century is very reminiscent of what was happening to Downtown Hamilton (where I live) of the same time. I love the Victorian houses in both places and can't wait to see our communities take a upturn for the better.
