Been playing this game for ages, never got the laser antenna to work. Never. I was just playing a pretty recent game and thought, let's give it another go. Still doesn't work. It says connected, but I can never access the grid on the other side. There are numerous bugreports about the laser antenna open that are open for years now. Lets hope they get this to work properly in SE2.
I'm sorry the video didn't help here. It never was simple and I guess there's more to it than just going through the motions. Shame, but yes, I hope they get this fixed too. SE2 looks interesting so far.... we'll see.

How do i set them to grind away armor blocks that is not part of my ship?

When I turn on "grind blocks that aren't owned" it starts dismantling my own ship...
It's so long since I played Space Engineers I honestly don't remember exactly how to set this up. However I do remember there were settings to tell the bots to salvage hostile blocks or blocks not owned by the player. You could then go on to prioritise which blocks you wanted to salvage first. Typically this was weapons or shields on the enemy ship. I'm really sorry I'm not much help here.

If you're not going to use nano bots then you're next best option is to increase the number of welders and increase the reach of the pistons. Perhaps double them up. Tricky, but a fun project.

Protip. Curved window over outside door wont lose any oxygen and it looks cool but also wont let 02 out. That way you wont need 2 doors (that still leak)

This was a very simple, easy way to test passing materials through the system. Everything described likely scenarios when setting a production process. Very helpful in fixing some problems I had with mine.

If you cant delay between actions the timer block is useless. Your base is full of huge ass timer blocks for one tool.
I suspect things have changed since I made this video so I'm not sure what functionality timer blocks have now. They did used to have a 'delay' option. Plus it's a game about engineering, you're supposed to have "huge ass" stuff all over the place haha!

Im trying to figure out how to create a hotbar button in my ship's cockpit (subgrid) where when I press it, it extends my platform's (static grid) piston and connector. I have the setup of two antennas respectively on each grid. And remote control block on the static grid, and a timer block also on the static grid that controls both the piston and connector. I can go into remote access in the menu, and take control of the static grid, but i dont want to do that everytime. I want it to where when im in range, The remote access is automatic and I can press the ship's hotbar button and it controls the static grid's timer block. Hope that makes sense
It's a long time since I messed with Space Engineers. I'm afraid I'm pretty rusty these days. Plus a lot has changed over the last few years. Would using a sensor to detect when you are a certain distance away that activates the piston be an option? I'm thinking that a hotbar button that only becomes active when you are in range might not be possible? I do remember having a separate hotbar for remote controls. I'm really sorry I'm not much help, although this sort of project reminds me exactly why I loved SE. I must go back to it some day. I wish you the best of luck with your trouble shooting and sorry again I'm not much help.

I quickly realized after making this comment that it's not possible to use the ships hotbar to remote control other blocks on a different grid, you have to use the remote control hotbar. Which is fine, I was just hoping that I could eliminate as much menu surfing as possible when it comes to doing stuff in SE

Hello, I am making my own hatita and everything is ready, my altitude and biome maps are ready, I want to place a city, but I could not succeed, can you help me, I wish I could understand the language better.
Ideally you should edit the map after the cities have been generated. If they aren't in the position you would like, then use Maptoolz to move them. Have a look through my other videos for instructions on how to do this. It would be impossible to explain everything here in a text reply. EDIT. I'm sorry I mistook which video you commented on. Unfortunately I haven't used Teragon for quite some time and I'm unfamiliar with the current method of city placement. I can highly recommend visiting the Teragon Discord channel where you'll find a lot more information that is more up to date. I'm really sorry I'm not being very helpful.

When the game loads it's a mix of WW and standard game. The trader is in a log structure and there are wagon wheels in the road (there are elements of Wild West), but there are also cars and modern houses. What could be causing this?
You need to use the new frontier map. Or if you are making a RWG map you need to temporarily rename the vanilla pois folder. You can name it back after genning a world. But use the New Frontier map for some solid gameplay fun. It's hand crafted and loaded with things to see and do.
Three years later, and none of this works. I have tried setting up automatically closing doors and the timer block won't actually close the doors you set in the block

I'm trying to do the same with a rover and a large ship but they don't connect, any ideas?
I'm afraid not. It's so long since I looked at SE I don't remember if there is something you need to do differently to connect small grid antenna to large grid. You could set up a fixed large grid antenna on a base and connect your rover to that to test the rover is configured correctly though? Sorry I'm not being very helpful here.

It's possible but the whole of the USA would be condensed down into 10 or 12k in width. Would probably be a little better to pick a region. Or a specific area that would scale nicely to 10 or 12k.

Not really. Kinggen hasn't been supported for a long time now. There was a way to get it working again with a21 but it wouldn't use city tiles which meant you wouldn't get the road system in cities. It's not really worth bothering with in V1.0/0 unless you're wanting to hand paint and hand place pois. Teragon is a better alternative but I'm not sure exactly how that is working with V1.0/1. Currently I'm holding off on using external map generators, using vanilla generators, then tweaking them in the vanilla world editor to place specific pois in places I want. Even hand painting maps/biomes is a little shaky at the moment. I'm looking forward to a stable version of Maptoolz before any serious map making goes on in the future.

I'm pleased you're enjoying the game. It's a lot of fun. Thanks for the kind words about my videos. It's a long time since I played SE myself but I had many many hours of pleasure with it. I don't believe the hinged doors were airtight unfortunately. Although you could use merge blocks to convert the door into a solid wall if it closes to an angle where the blocks line up fully. Reopening the door could be tricky though. Would probably require a programmable block to run a basic sequence. Hit button, separate merge blocks, rotate hinge etc. Thanks again and happy engineering to you.

When I control something that has a cockpit it won’t move I can use blocks but I can get it to move and the speed is set to default and the cockpit is set not as main
I'm not entirely sure. It's a couple of years since I played with SE. But shouldn't the cockpit be set as main in order for you to have control? Really sorry I'm not much help here.

Ahh. Using remote control? I'm pretty sure that system will have changed since I last played. It was janky back then. I'd hope they've tidied that up.
I had the same problem, had to roll back to an earlier back up save, I would recommend making a copy of that world just incase rolling it back does not work for you.
So does more Cities mean the game will chug? I know this question is hardware dependant, but I think what I'm feeling is the game having a lag about UNloading resources. I've got my LoD setting quite low, so I'm asking: does more dense == less FPS, always?
I'm sure no matter your settings or hardware, a bigger city will impact performance more than a smaller city. The effect may be less noticeable with higher hardware. I tend to juggle settings if I'm spending time in denser areas. Lowering shadows and reflections. I run a laptop 4070 and haven't found any city 'unplayable'. Horde night however.....mhm
i was tired of using like 9 clicks and 2 menu for action in my ship, with this now i an do it with like 3 clicks, thank youu

I added building to a custom map I generated, however in the map preview image within appdata, the added POIs don't show up on the map. This makes it hard to figure out where I need to draw my custom roads. How do I get my added POIs to show on the map preview image?

You can definitely paint roads. Rivers are slightly different. Have a look at my mapmaking playlist. More specifically the maptoolz one. I walk you through a few things there.

Great video have tried to follow but having a major issue in that Teragon is telling me "Critical Error. Could not access file" with the PNG. I'm certain I have the folder and filename right, it is renamed and is in the generation folder for the map. I have triple checked. Permissions seem fine. Any idea what may be causing this?
NM, Double checked for some reason it duplicated the world directory into the pathname. No idea why. Deleted the worldname from the path and it worked fine.

any advice for adding more height (and the right settings) to a heightmap extrapolated from geographic data or for creating a water map? I couldn't find any instructions.
The water map should be automatically generated. You specify the height In the settings. I don't remember the exact details of the settings as it's a good while since i experimented with the software. As for the height adjustment a simple method to increase the range would be to load your geo map into a photo editor and change the brightness curve to boost the lightest colours and lower the darkest colours. Sorry I'm not a load of help here. It's been a while.
Fair, was hoping to override it for manual placement if necessary, I'm having issues with a heightmap not wanting to play properly with the software for some reason, it keeps generating way too high water and i *THOUGHT* i had the filters set up right to get it to exaggerate everything before it applies water but i think i'm doing something wrong.

I'm afraid there isn't a current working version of Compopack available to download. I know they are working on a new one for v1.0 of the game but I suspect it'll take a little while to test before it's available.
