    Hi Jill and John. Jill. I’ve learned that leaving rubber bands on the rods is a bad idea…they dry rot and leave goop on the rods. Also. The sticker labels fade and fall off. Great job on the revamp. ❤best wishes to you both and I look forward to seeing your upcoming adventures

    Hello, am so glad to have come across your videos. You’re so clear in your explanations and demonstration.- thank you. May I ask what glue you used to hold the glass tubes in place? Is it a specific one that can take high temperatures? Or will all glues be useable ? Thank you.

    Put the tile on the filled mold, the hold it good from the bottom and turn it over. The tap the product loose and lift the mold. A vibrating table (tile) helps. Vib-tile can be a computer fan with a weight on a fin (screw) or cut a fin off. Also, a vacuum sealer bag can be used to clamp the odd shapes together to turn over.🤗😇🙏

    How far apart should glass be before firing so they don’t fuse together?

    • @FiredGlass
      @FiredGlass 2 місяці тому

      So they are not touching. Glass thats 3’m thick will always draw itself up to 6mm. Any thicker than 6mm and it will pool down to 6mm . Therefore 3mm only needs a spacing of 3mm. Leave more space for thicker pieces.

    I have the privilege to pull some of my own canes from a friend’s vitrigraph kiln. Towards the end of pulling cane, the canes are hollow inside. My friend tells me I can not fuse those canes unless I fill them with stringers. In your video, you’re cutting those hollows or tubes and full fusing them as is. I’m glad I saved those tubes and excited to use them in future projects. I learn so much from your videos and happy to see you back🥳

    • @FiredGlass

      Hi Carol, yes indeed you can use any offcuts / scraps of glass so long as it's the same COE. There is no wastage in glass fusing. Thanks for watching.

    32:07 It looks as if John likes to wear diaphenous thin white linen shirts as I do during the heat of summer, nothing so cool feeling as pure wrinkley linen. 41:50 Very nice, they look like irregularly shaped glass marbles. 21:16 Nice to show us all of the extraneous tasks involved in your glass work. Invariably, several dozen things must be done in order to do what we actually want to do, and your new furnishings are looking quite well done. A blessing that your husband is willing to work to make things happen instead of being a blob and hiring workers to do it. Just TRYING is onorable enough, succeeding is even better. 26:00 Good that there are ways to prevent work shops from burning to the ground nowdays. Long ago, glass shops, candle makers and pottery firing shops were notorious for burning down.

      Yes they can but you will lack the control of a glass kiln. The annealing process is difficult to manage in a microwave kiln.
