Lu got my back on Monday's, got my coffee and update_all going. I wonder how weird it's going to be playing CD-i on direct video through a Retortink 4k? Probably going to be a recreation of Indiana Jones Lost Ark.

No one needs to revisit the CDI.

I'm legit, super hyped-up for that CD-i core. I get that it's.... less than reputable, but still. Being able to mess with that library is going to be some dumb fun.

Hear me out... SAM should have a mode where the current game / commercial is synchronised online with every other user. Ie we all see the same content at the same time. It would feel kinda like an old school TV broadcast and make us feel kind of connected.

I am so stoked about this CD-i news! Means I can stop waiting on Fixel to maybe actually build and release the Phøde. That thing is looking more and more like a scam every day. Very excited about CD32 and Super Attract Mode, too.

I'm thrilled to still have my original CD32 along with some games! 😁 Now that I can use it on MiSTer, I don't have to worry about it failing on me. 😅

Great vid. One recommendation to improving your soldering skills is - don't just melt the solder, but apply heat to what you need to solder and then touch it with the solder so that the soldering area melts the solder and you don't end up with a cold joint, which results in bad electrical contact in the long run. A CDi and/or 3DO core on MiSTer would mean you could watch VCD movies on your MiSTer. Just putting it out there for anyone who might have a thing for forgotten and obscure movie formats.

I want basically two Mister clones, one for console, and one for retro computers. Should I wait for the Taki clone vaporware bs, or should the other Chinese clones be sufficient? I basically need composite out for a CRT TV for the console one, and VGA out for my CRT monitor / the computer based one.

I think the Taki board is fucking vaporware to be honest.

Now that these 4 player Konami cores are here, how do we get 4 players to work with Mistercade ?

What's the latest on M.A.R.S.? Still dead in the water?

Taki Udon’s flagship MiSTer portable console has HDMI input with adjustment knobs. He also reacted positively to someone who suggested that it will be modeled off a PVM (“Get this guy an award”). We have a portable screen and MiSTer larger than 8” with HDMI input, adjustment knobs, and likely modeled off a monitor. :)

Is there any way to have individual game entries in the MiSTer menu that auto boot Windows with the game selected (for example Minesweeper)? I know we can't just use something like eXoWIN3x with runexit since that has a Windows version bundled with each single game which probably wouldn't make sense here. So if we install all games in this one Windows instance, could we have a MiSTer menu entry apply a specific autoexec BAT to boot a specific game and back out to the menu when the game or at least Windows is exited? If not, I guess at least we could copy that Windows VHD multiple times, then set up each individually with a certain game. Did anybody ever try this?

The big bug caught me the last two weeks but I'm BACK and running that update_all, I'm sure there's a lot to catch up on but luckily there's Lu to give me all the MiSTer FPGA updates! I keep forgetting to put this in the comment, another word of advice is if you use the method I do which is completely remote which is using a smart switch to turn on MiSTer and use Wizzo's remote control (vpn optional if outside) then it might be best not to have that option of playing a random game turned on. I forgot who made it but I appreciate their work, it's just when the random game starts then you cannot run update_all anymore until you restart the MiSTer. Just a random thing I encounter sometimes and would like to pass on the knowledge.

Biggest problem with china shit is always quality and or underated or fake components. All my experince over with china stuff is, the more.power it uses the more unreliable it will be.

Please do a video on computer cores that support Standard Def TVs. I have switched to a CRT which is great for consoles, but I really miss SCUMMVM - I have been drooling over Tandy1000 videos because of the amazing graphics under SD composite. I know its possible to scale some cores down, but the configuration is really hit & miss. I see there is a spark2k06/PCXT_MiSTer with some kind of Tandy support - will appreciate some coverage.

has anyone an idea if one day there will be a marble madness 2 (marble man) core? its playable on mame but i have no clue on what hardware it runs and if the ripped ROMs can be used for that. great vid btw - as always.

The retro frog case looks quite nice actually. Not usually a fan of 3d printed cases, and it does have the hallmarks of that, but not as obvious as some and it's a tiny form factor to boot. If I didn't already have two ironclads I'd consider it.
