Made it on time! Hope everyone that had a celebration this last week stayed safe. The best way to say you stayed safe is to grab your coffee (or favorite drink), update_all, and get your MiSTer FPGA news from Lu!
The control fix is for a subtle but longstanding issue. If you had multiple (physical) buttons on your controller assigned to the same (core/game) button, it didn't keep track of them separately, so if you tapped a button that was already being held, it'd forget that you were still holding it. It now works closer to what people expect, which is mainly useful for shooters where you'd have two buttons mapped to fire, and one of them on autofire. After this fix, if you press them both at once, the held button isn't cancelled by the autofire, which means you can't accidentally ruin charging a special shot by releasing autofire too late (you can even keep holding autofire and when you release the regular fire button, autofire will kick right back in.) I hope that makes sense - go try playing R-Type before and after the fix to see what I mean. I think it also fixes the issue where if a controller had both a dpad and analog stick, accidentally tapping the analog stick the same direction as you're holding the dpad would make it stop registering the dpad as held - bringing mario to a crashing halt. (It doesn't try to deal with SOCD so feel free to make mario moonwalk still.)
Sinden mentioned in its discord that he thinks that the Saturn core does not support lightguns at all currently. That would be required to add sinden support to Saturn games.
oh man, good news on the Siden Lightgun support. Those sensors for the PS3 Guncon have been a complete mess for me. The shape of my TV hasn't been making that easy. The only way this can get better is if the Siden folks make the thing work on an original PS2 console.
2:14 hes never gonna get a minimum of 4 hours battery life unless the form factor is an oversized steam deck with a smaller screen and lower resolution. it just isnt going to be very portable. hope there will be a battery bank option though.
