Do you have to save the file before writing to radio? Thank you 73
I also wanted a crossband repeater. The additional 1.2 meter and 350 MHz bands were nice extras. I ordered one. Supposedly, it’s actually 2 radios in one box. I’ll find out when it gets here. Not much available on UA-cam regarding setup, practical usage or applications involving new bands/frequencies.
I ordered this radio Screw the government. NC here. We need help
I don't have "Import from Stock Config" in the dropdown box on the Radio tab so I can't download US Marine Channels. Why don't I have Import from Stock Config as shown in the video? Any tips?
Congrats on getting your ham license and welcome to the family. Loved your unboxing and looking forward to future videos. 73s. Kb9jxu
It's not only useful for on-frequency range testing, I've used it to test harmonic range testing. I walk 50-100 yards away, transmit on 145.600 on one radio and listen to 291.2 on another radio (the harmonic). Lo and behold, the Quansheng UV-K5 (which is hooked up to the Surecom) sends my harmonic loud and clear up to about 100 yards, with no obstructions other than a fence. So the UV-K5 is dirty, but not so dirty that I'd avoid using it.
My first of many HT...still my go to HT
Will it work while charging? Does it work with FRMS radios? What is a good roof mount antenna for the repeater?
Hablo mucho, y del radio, nada.
"Aramature Radio"?
What eas yhe since in making this video ehat a wast of time thanks again
As a tech I would buy it if it has SSB capability. From what I read it is FM only. We cannot use FM on ten meters.
There are FM segments on the upper part of 10m. There are both FM simplex and FM repeater channels. Have a look at a bandplan of 10m.
Is there an adapter for rj45 so i can use it with a base station
Yes. Theres almost every style of connector made for it.
did not receive the advisory sheet mention at minute 1:30
This is the fake one, but works well enough on 70cm bands
Just purchased the DM-1701 with OpenGD77 already loaded on Aliexpress $60.46 US
I am inside the UK what's is marine FR in chirp
Very good pitch! I learned about amsat at a hamfest today. Might have to throw some money at them. Thanks for the video!
Any updates on this radio? I have heard mixed reports on it.
I love your perspective and attitude.
As a ham radio operator who has been in for several years I say the bridge would be good, because I know a lot of us are on a budget, and needing 3 or 4 different brands floating around with an average entry price around $300 plus each for just the base bare bone unit it can get real expensive fast. The fact there seems to be a new digital mode come out every couple years lately it makes me shiver a bit reminding me of the small fortune I had to spend to be able to get proper HF going. (For anyone who doesn't know if you just buy a basic HF setup your going to get a good lesson on the sound of static. Also people will rarely answer back to your calling CQ because they just can't hear you. After you drop a few grand into a proper antenna, a few grand into proper cables and grounding, a few grand into a proper unit with dsp, antenna tuner, a sdr tap so you can watch the spectrum to see where people are transmitting, a laptop to hook up for digital mode/etc, and at least 600w amp to transmit with a bit of a punch to get you out there you can actually sustain a proper rag chew, or regularly check into a net if desired as long as the pathway is open. As an example of just how expensive HF is, and I don't think we should the 2m/440 newb/easy/kids can easily join in/tech learning/play with new things section to turn into the same kind of pocketbook slayer HF is.)
Good repiter
How did you fix the mic so it doesn't sound like you are unreadable
Great information
They should build them right into the radios I heard the UV5R can be programmed to send SR112 remote codes. Will try it, next. Since all Ham operators seem to do is bounce constant radio checks back and forth, these provide precise one-party evaluations and actually reduce traffic on the airwaves. I transmit on FRS 3 from a Baofeng HT. receive on the repeater radio, then retransmit on FRS 10. I thereby receive channel 3 (by delay) hearing myself and anybody else heard on FRS 3. But I receive on nice, quiet FRS channel 10 (on my HT). My "echo" repeats are sent on 10. This way, I can hear my own signal quality on 10 while monitoring the clamoring throngs over on FRS3. Address them as well, if needed. Nobody, except myself, hears more than one of my original transmissions. I hear it all. I'm King of the Hill, man. Naturally, you need a fully wide-open UV5R or a BF-888, to receive on one channel, and to retransmit on another. No FRS/GMRS marketing toys, thank you. We're big boys here. If you can figure all that out and program it in, THAT'S why you buy these repeaters. BTW, hang a Parrot on a GMRS channel at your peril.
What antenna did you end up using for your tyt TH-9800D?
im new to radio should i buy this one or the uv 82hp//
ugly
hi, a question, how many kilometers of gain did you gain with the surecom?
Do the math.
"You are not going to beat Chinese when it comes to electronics" 🤣🤣🤣As in: nobody else can assemble parts made in Taiwan cheaper. Chinese semiconductor. technology is good for microwave ovens and vacuum cleaners at best. Larger integration stuff gets imported. Authoritarian states ALWAYS lose- AK rifle works to motivate labourer dining ditches, not circuit designer.
All I care about is will it work for uv5r for talking on the regular walkie talkie radios and get a decent distance,
Love the feel of my Dm-1701 now if I can get it to work correctly. Watched your programming video and when I key the radio I see myself in Pi-Star and I am heard in BM. Problem is I get a Access denied and the a screen pops up and says private call. Thing is only Parrot is marked private everything else is group calls. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have you set your hotspot security password in the Brandmeister self-care? That is required now.
Not sure why but it is working now. Thank you.
I was having trouble with adding DMR+ network. I got no return traffic at all, even from parrot. I decided to come back to it later, and all of a sudden, echo is working. I think some things take a little bit to register
Nice video, then you 😊
Sent it back . Its a real POS . Worst you can buy . Its so so TINY and FLIMSY> The short duckie that came with the UV5R works much better . The Bing FU is a cheap useless toy . I Tested it . Junk
Doesent work with the new Chirp??? SMH....
There is now a version of OpenGD77 for this radio
Thanks for the info. 😃
Works nice for PMR. It is helpful when working on height.
It's no good quality... Problème
I am very nube to dmr I am listening 👂
Kool
Is a license required for this radio? I have a baofeng UV-5R and I know is not required but not sure about this one. Thank you
You need a ham license on any frequency outside GMRS
MURS, CB and ISM are the only license free bands. Power restrictions do apply.
Nice CHIRP feature! Didn't know it existed! Are US marine frequencies identical to European marine frequencies? I also see a selection "FR Marine VHF Channels." Does that refer to "French"?
what is chirp and how do you get it and how does it link to the radio . he didnt teach beginners anything.
If you say you're gonna do a follow up video then DO A FOLLOW UP VIDEO!
Good video. As a Ham, I want access, but I don’t want to scan maritime frequencies. Do I just a s for skip to do that when I download from CHIP? If I add skip is there a way to scan just that group anyway?
range for this plz ?......
The content of this video is basically.... nothing at all.
Great video. Can you program this radio with Chirp? If so how do you get Chirp to read from the radio? Is the factory software still available, preferably in English? Thank you. Ernest Bazzinotti, KC1LKB
I will never order zastone walkie-talkies again I have this walkie-talkie and think I'll throw it to the trash, it is always a problem to find the right software on the zastone website. why does it always have to be a challenge to find the right software for a walkie-talkie from china? and why is chirp not in the list? they are beautiful walkie-talkies but a lot can be said about the software I'm going to use my Yaesu again
Does the TH-9800 transmit ANI information? If so how do you set it up? Thanks
