    I have recurring Ganglion Cysts which can get very big, usually on my middle finger PIP joint that can make climbing very uncomfortable. What I have found helps tremendously it getting rid of them relatively quickly (sometimes one day!) is to keep applying heat (I use some of those chemical hand warmers) and massaging switching between one of those acupressure finger massage rings and the finger scraper on a Wave Therapy massage tool. The heat helps soften it to a point where it will massage away. This is initially quite painful but does respond quickly and improve. Once it's nearly gone I tape around the joint before climbing (X pattern) which I feel helps it stop coming back straight away.

    Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to know you are able to climb hard again. I'm experiencing some pain very similar to what you described, although it didnt start with the pain in the top of the finger. Could you please describe wich method of taping did you use for climbing while the ganglion was painful? I hurt myself near the a2 pulley about 6 weeks ago, and i didnt find a taping method very efficient... so far the best way is to wrap the joint kind of loose, so the tape acts like a soft pad. In the first days i tried only H Taping, but it felt a bit worst once it didnt cover the cyst itself.

    • @AllegraClimbingPsychologist
      @AllegraClimbingPsychologist 3 місяці тому

      I would either H-tape or wrapping the finger normally around the tender point. It would reduce the pain just a little, I learned to manage the pain instead and after a while it went away. Check with a pick up device how your strength is compared to the other hand to check that you actually don't have a functional impairment before trying this and visit a doctor!

    Hi, before the cyst is not painful any more, what do I need to notice? No crimp at all? Ignore the uncomfortable from the pressure of jugs? how often did you do massaging, hong long for a singe time? Thanks a lot.

      @@DecurryLiu if you are sure it's a ganglion, you should be able to go back to crimping as usual, after a good warm up. I massaged all the time as an anti stress and I climbed on jugs while taping very tight

      Hi, a short review for recent status, two Doppler ultrasound examination didn't show any structure is abnormal. But pain is still there. This Friday I will try final Doppler ultrasound examination with an expert dortor. But I believe it's a ganglion cyst. Pretty painful or sore when jug pressing. For crimps, obvious different for pulley injure which can not stand any crimpping. But feel like sore rather than sharp painful. Hope I could manage to back to normal climbing load earlier.

    Ciao Allegra, ho visto un tuo video in italiano su un altro canale sulla gestione della paura di cadere , ed era estremamente interessante! Peccato che il tuo canale sia solo in inglese e non ci siano i sottotitoli in italiano. In quel video mi sono reso conto che la mia paura di cadere è legata al fallimento. Dove posso trovare altre spunti di riflessione, in italiano. Grazie. Complimenti veri per ciò che fai!

    I’m not sure what “stop climbing” means. We all should sometimes try routes that are above our level to identity our weaknesses. I mean this was a legitimate try. Only when you can’t improve after 2 or 3 tries, you should move on and come back next time.

    • @AllegraClimbingPsychologist
      @AllegraClimbingPsychologist 10 місяців тому

      Un this video you can see I'm visibly exhausted. You are right in saying that you might still be able to do well with a couple extra tries. You might even send. However the ability to learn, improve and recover in the long run will decrease. In that case, it's junk milage. I'm always the one advocating for trying way too hard stuff for yourself, too!

    Thanks, enlightening video! I'm extremely far from being a pro climber, just a very dedicated 7a guy, but I do climb a lot and have built an eating disorder. Oscillating between being underweight and building up too much muscle mass, I'm always looking for that sweet spot. In any case, I definitely know for a fact being too lean, and apparently ripped as a result, is bad not only for my climbing, but my health and mind in general. It also sucks being cold all the time, I can't swim in cold waters like I used to. So anyone out there picking up climbing with mad passion, beware of your eating and do not hesitate to acknowledge it if it gets affected.

    Would be great to see a series about mindset of routesetters. Not often talked about but personally I often struggle with thoughts like "I don't climb good enough to be a setter" or "I should be able to do this as a routesetter", "what, if someone who knows I set, is watching me failing", when I struggle in training. Not helpful but hard to cope with as being a good/ strong climber is required to be setter. I never hear routesetters talk about this but would assume I am not the only one (especially as a female routesetter).

      You know what? This is a lovely idea. I share a lot the struggles that you are talking about, despite that instead of having them for being strong enough, I have them for being creative enough. I am just starting and recognizing that I need to work on that otherwise it potentially gets worse and will influence my relationship to climbing in general but also is rumoring in the selfworth-zone so to say.
