New Home, New KEYBOARD (Roland Fantom FA-08)
This is an informal announcement explaining why I've been a little quiet lately and why I'm finally changing keyboards from the Roland Fantom G8 to the Fantom FA-08.
If you have questions about the keyboard, or if you have requests for new tutorial videos, let me know!

My Show at the SURF BALLROOM... Looking Like ZZ Top??
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
Here's a "behind the scenes" look at a Halloween show I play every year at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA with my Wisconsin cover band, Boogie & the Yoyoz. This video is from our show on October 29, 2022. Featured heavily in this video is my keyboard rig setup, which is based around a single Roland Fantom G8 workstation keyboard. This keyboard is no longer new, but it is still highly effec...

If you play keyboard in a band, or are accompanying a singer, this "Faithfully" Piano Tutorial is for you. This is one of the crowd favorites I regularly play in my Wisconsin-based cover band, Boogie & the Yoyoz. If you are looking for a transcription of this part, I don't offer one for this one - however, this is one of the few songs that the sheet music available for purchase online is actual...

Loving the stability and functionality- priced less than the Gibraltar. X stands simply not stable enough- esp if you are stacking!

Hi there - Wondered what notes are you actually playing in the percussive section of the intro? (sorry- it's going so fast, it's impossible to to register what you've actually played) many thanks

I played in a busy cover band for years and wish I had done something like this video for at least one show. It would be interesting to see how I did this 15 years ago with the equipment available in those days. One thing I notice now about bands is the use of iPads all over the stage. In 2009 to 2013 or so you never saw an iPad or tablet. Sometimes a fill in player or the singer might have a lyric sheet or sheet music, but the stage and stands were much cleaner. Not a criticism, I use a tablet now to do all my patch changes and run a light show - but it was . . . different.

I just found your page and I'd be insterested in a Keyboard group. There are lots of parts that are barely audible from 80's covers that I could use help with. Watching various videos on how people program the Fantom keyboard has helped me learn how to apply those methods to songs. I'd rather program than spend money on a patch of sounds.

thanks Mike for this lesson. Great job. I have subscribed. I am an old man now, (played guitar for 20+ years) and upon retirement wanted to learn to play piano. Mostly love pop/rock/blues music (70's and 80's). Getting pretty far along (took lessons for 1-year, thru 2nd Alfred book on my own) now and so grateful learning piano forces one to read music accurately, especially if you are going to play with other people. sorry to ramble. this lesson is very accurate, it will help me smooth out the changes. AND to all others, if you play an instrument (no matter how good your ear is) LEARN to read and eventually write music. It is a blessing.
