£242 to travel first doesn't seem that bad when it costs £193 for standard!

Note, I actually work for GTR and on Thameslink trains the standard class section do have seat back tables on unit numbers 035-060 and 125-155

Pontrilas Station, between Abergavenny and Hereford, was a victim of Beechingisation. The station buildings became a private house. My Mam nearly bought it back in the 70s.

That egg and hash brown roll looked amazing. Add a Hashbrown to a Greggs Omelette Breakfast Roll and one to the Cheese and Bacon Flatbread at McDonalds. Another great vlog.

i think this was the day i was stuck ona 158 for about 3h between Shrewsbury and Gobowen due to flooding, not great when you can see water where the track bed should be

Our first ever long distance train trip on 12th October was awful. What was a five hour trip ended up nine hours because of a line side fire. As a terrified traveller it's scared me. Birmingham New street station is terrifying.

10 out of 10 for the food on those TFW services. It looked absolutely amazing The disruption later in the day was unfortunate. Shrewsbury always seems to be one of the first places to be affected by flooding when there's been heavy rain

Toasted cheese and Tomato soup is such a comfort meal, perfect for such a dreary day. After years of travel I now travel with a set of utensils in a little case which solves a lot of plastic/ wood displeasure.

Did you have to buy new tickets for the journey back to Cardiff? TFW's catering seems far superior to any other operator in the UK.

brilliant vlog the TfW class 67 look amazing & ive yet to have a ride on one but ive seen a few out & about in the North West & Hereford looks like a lovely place to visit but maby not when its raining & i visited Shrewsbury back in Febuary when i spent a week in the Midlands & its a lovely town & i tried to visit the castle but i went on a Thursday & sadly it dosnt open on Thursdays

I remember this day a few weeks back, HD01, the train you were going to take, ended up sitting at Chester for a few hours and then went off to Holyhead. Pretty disrupting day, shame you didn't get back on them, I didn't actually know you could order stuff in standard, that's pretty awesome. Most times in standard I'm only on one stop, say Cardiff to Newport. I should try this one day, hopefully without the weather getting in the way, though!

Jen you put in the description that they are class 91 loco hauled, but that is LNER, TfW use the Class 67 for their premier services as they need diesel and the 91s are electric

Have you been on the new Class 805 Evero that are now in service to North Wales and Chester. And later this year the Class 807 Evero will begin service to Liverpool Lime Street and Blackpool North.

Puppy so big! I took my first train journey recently, thanks for your tips in previous convos. The coming home was a lot less stressful than going to my weekend destination (train slowed down coming into my first stop making us miss the connection). I'm still unsure I'm confident in getting on the right train to start with, if the time posted is the time the train gets there or is leaving. I assume it's the getting to the platform time and that the train at the station people are getting off is not the one I'm aiming for just come early. Because I nearly missed it first time despite watching the multiple screens with two trains coming to the needed platform. I assume my observation and understanding skills will 'level up' the more I do it and the more practise I get and lingo I learn to read.
