So good! I just wish I had the sausage roll too. But during the edit, I discovered that the pie stand in Carlisle station is the same one that supplies the First Class, so I may have to find them next time I'm up north :)
I recently travelled between Manchester and Edinburgh a few days ago and first class was nice but the service was baddddd. Granted first class was full. But it was 40 mins after we left manchester before we received our 1 and only drink that was offered during the journey and 2 hours before our meal was served!!! Some passengers waited even longer. The issue was each passengers food and drink over was taken and made 1 at a time! The service felt very personal which was nice but felt soooo slow.
Which is weird. On this journey, the host took everyone's orders in one sweep and only then started preparing the food. However when Glovestrains did it, her experience was more like yours. Perhaps they need an extra member of staff in the kitchen whilst there is a host dealing with customers?
By the way I forgot to mention that the pop up Pie Stall you saw at Carlisle is Pie Demand- the same people as make the TPE 1st class sausage rolls. They are usually there every Thursday to Saturday. Their bakery is actually in the arches below the sidings which are beyond Platform 1 at the station- the bakery has a retail shop as well which is open most days. The bakery/shop is accessed via the station subway accessed by lift from the platforms.
Is it my imagination or did I notice a grim brown stain on the seat of the chair you chose to sit in. I have just booked a first class ticket to Edinburgh in November on this train line so thank you for the review.
Wow great video! I did TPE the other day in 1st from MAN-OXN and it was absolutely amazing! Opted for the sausage roll and a coca cola! And the seats are so comfy! Along with great value for money! They're a masterpiece I would say! Also just to note on this.. TPE have a 1st class lounge at Huddersfield and thats the only one :)
@TravelSoGood I know! I remember it from when they said about there train driving simulation last year! They said they hosted it in Huddersfield 1st class lounge. I was confused myself I'm yet to go see what all the fuss was about 😄 🤣
Just been on a 14 hour sleeper train from Chișinău to Bucharest and no food service at all. Good job I was pre-warned and brought my own. Mind you it was a lot cheaper at around £11.00 for the journey!
Great vid Jessica, and the new menu sounds delish! Had a bag of crisps last time, will have try this new stuff out 😀

5:09 So the Vegan Sausage Roll on the weekend menu is NOT lovingly made in Wk1, just Wk2 😆
The weekend gets that weeks' cast offs 🤣

I'll have to remember that next time I'm passing through Carlisle!
A day at Carlisle is not complete without a visit to the Pie Stall. Their Cheese and Chive Pie is to die for..I want one now!😍

Ewww now I can't unsee it 🫣🫣🫣
Hopefully it's just from a piece of dropped food... 🙈

Interesting about the lounge at Huddersfield. It's weird how I can't (couldn't) find that info on their website

What do you think of TransPennine's new First Class Menu? Is it enough to entice you back?
Yes i would. They have improved lot's i like what i am seeing. Brilliant video as always 😃
The only issue for me (Sheffield to Manchester) with transpennine express is the volume of cancellations, and first class is like 4 seats.
Yeah... I should really review the other two routes/train types too and see how they compare!
Just found your channel through this video being suggested! One occasion where I'm glad of algorithms ahah!
Algorithms do know what they're doing sometimes! Glad to have you here :)

The grass area at Oxenholme is there because of the 'Totem Pole'- a Peace Pole- which was installed in 2014
That would explain why I don't recalled seeing it before. I worked there in 2010
I need that stew
It's lush :)
Looks tasty!
It was :)
