Lastly Khaine and the other cythri are Elfen gods, gods that the Asur are not allowed to worship (what happens when you tell a child they are not allowed to do something) and bearing in mind warhammer elves view all matters in extremes... they are a highly emotive people who have been told they cannot feel things due to slaanesh? The reason the Asur cannot eliminate the Druchii in their entirety- it is because it from the kingdoms of Asur that the Druchii are still actively recruiting... now the army books want clean, easy to understand, digestible conflicts so you can paint your armies and take them to the battlefield- and are hampered by what can be easily represented with a limited model range- which inevitable means corruptive forces like the dark elves, and Chaos are naturally going to suffer when it comes to their limited lore- (Why doesn't Luther Harkon have undead Kroxgors?) Why are there so many dead humans in Lustria? Wouldn't it make more sense to sail around the southlands in an effort to get to Cathay? You can play this game with any faction!

Their culture promotes selfishness and backstabbing, they don't actually love each other or care for one another BUT for some reason they super care about that one nerdy loser called Malekith and his mommy, EVEN THOUGH FOLLOWING HIM ONLY EVER LED THEM FROM ONE DISASTER AND DEFEAT TO ANOTHER! :D They've no reason at all to be loyal to Malekith other then fearing him I guess... What motivates them to even make and raise children if love and care are outside of their grasp? Their children would all just die from neglect. :/ Makes no sense. =)

I hate how Dark Elves are portrayed. They make no sense at all and as you said, their society shouldn't be able to function. I really love Dark Elves, I love the idea, but... How 1/10th of a nation, that then gets halved twice, so about 1/40th (of the original nation), that wouldn't be able to really grow their numbers (due to all the backstabbing, death nights, harsh climate and all of that) can make a massive invasion and then lose it all and STILL be a military power... Like, they don't even have a stable economy because they can't preserve their labourers lives and have to make constant raids to supply workforce

Well so the first 90% of the book is the player invading Ulthulan. The last 10% is a rate my Teclis one man doom stack.

"Elves, man"--the despair. No, it's stupid people writing about elves, that's why he's sad.

This lore makes me realize that Eltharion is one of the best written characters. He does great stuff, he calls everyone stupid (which they are), and he even has a great death... if we're going to acknowledge the end times.

These stories are great, seriously helps me with tying in all the lore to my TW warhammer campaign

TBF Tyrion seeing Malekith charging a huge attack and stepping into its path shouting "1v1 me bro!" seems like it'd be peak Tyrion

I'll be honest, this kinda sounds like a lot of World of Warcraft. Some good original ideas, but then the execution is abysmal, wholly contrived and there are no lasting consequences for anything. With the 'adventurers', here the 'lovers', affect nothing of the outcome, despite the advertisement saying they do. Still better love story than Twilight though.

Nagarythe is sparsely populated specifically because of the devastation caused during the civil war. It was not really hte case before that. Also remember that elves were actively moving there during Aenarion's reign, because he was attracting elves who were most hurt by the war (having their family murdered etc.) and during the civil war, they mostly sided with Malekith. During the civil war. And those dark elves fled to the cities that were turned into black arks, those cities were not just magically spearated on a whim one afternoon, it was the direct result of losing the war. Also Dark elves are not nearly as treacherous as Dark Eldar (and I mean between themselves, they will absolutely betray anyone else). Also the vast majority of Dark Elf economy s based on slavery, which means they have a lot of warriors and other specialised people, instead of menials, like High Elves.

What can I say? Dark elves are just too good at killing their Ulthuani kin

Oh right. If memory serves this is the book where it talks about how people across the world feel inexplicable sadness over Alarielle's death--except the dwarfs, who specifically don't give a fuck about what happens to some elf lady.

If there's one thing I learned from Warhammer (Fantasy and 40k) and later from DND, it's that all 'Species of Evil' are spoiled trust-fund babies, with their god/goddess (Khaine/Lolth) being their bankroller. Hell, even Venture Bros. had a similar idea with the Calamitous Guild, because of its mysterious (maybe alien maybe supernatural) 'Investors' that keep giving them money for stupid villain plots! Okay, sure, you 'can' make excuses for some like Orcs/Orks and Skaven 'because biology' or something, but their biology is basically magic. Your plot armor requires a lot of stupid-proofing for these guys. Or, a tyrannical god of evil that kicks in their teeth whenever they're going really off the deep end. Tolkien had the same problem with Sauron and his minions, but his letters show he understood the horrifying implications of all this and thought it better left unspoken.

Well maybe we all underestimate the impact of the cult of pleasure in the dark elf population

Didn't Malekith not only have the the culture of pleasure, that had infiltrated many other provinces, but many elf lords directly swear loyalty to him. I imagine around 30% of total population left. Death night probably is a net loss in pop but probably causes orgies to off set it a bit.

Colonies again are left forgotten. And also it is important to understand that Nagarythe army during the Sundering ≠ shitshow of current druchii warhost. During the Sundering it was basically the biggest and most trained army group of elves, possibly being the height of their military power, with Nagarythe, not Naggaront military traditions and without all that edgy backstabbing. Nagarythe + colonies was centralized militarized society which practiced war for centuries, while other kingdoms were just existing on buble. If you want history example - look for Ceaser in the Gallia, where despite them having big edge in populace they crumbled before his politicking and military might of legions.

Conquest mode is a huge W in my opinion for quick play, land battles on ladder have always been a miserable experience, it also makes the scene way more approachable that doesnt require a 12 page pdf of rules to play. Conquest replacing Land battle on quick battle is the best for the health of the game in my opinion. Land battles will always have its tournament scene, but as for quick battle and your average player conquest is going to be a better experience in my opinion.

I would like to see human boy trying a conquest tournament now and then. Similarly to how he sometimes does ultra funds or 2v2 or other formats I think it would be fun to see some conquest battles on the channel
